Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1466: Chapter 44: Golden Yunlan

”Not liking alcohol doesn’t mean getting drunk easily, you know? Purwell! Don’t listen to List’s nonsense, he sometimes just wants to mock me.” Hill said seriously, ”I used to get drunk because as a child, I absorbed more of the uncomfortable stuff in the alcohol than others, and I wasn’t exposed to it much before, so my reactions were more noticeable!

It’s determined by constitution, but as I drank more, it wasn’t a problem!

I can drink fruit wine as if it’s water!

I still don’t like spirits, but I’ve always wanted to create an alternative to the Crystal Mystery to give to Uncle Adrian!

The Crystal Fruit Tree demands too complex a living environment; only one can be planted within 1000 square meters, even for me, I can’t make them live harmoniously with each other.

So, even for me, I can’t provide Uncle Adrian with an endless supply of Crystal Mystery!

Now that I’ve encountered materials that could potentially replace Crystal Fruit, it’s only natural for me to want them!

Ah~ See, every new world is meaningful.”

Hill sighed, resting his chin with a wistful expression.

”Alright... maybe...”

”Sir, what kind of expression is that?”

”If it’s Rose again... you see, she insists on taking control even in places where elves have long moved away, so do I have to find a world without any elf traces to escape her?”

”Sir, aren’t you going back to Teraxil sooner or later?” Purwell asked, puzzled, ”won’t you still meet her?”

Determined to follow Hill anywhere, the Otherworldly Whale obviously already heard about the situation in Teraxil from List, and not to mention the talkative Undead Tribe!

He knows everything he should and shouldn’t know.

The Undead Tribe has always been very interested in him, enjoying chatting and playing with him, and Fran doesn’t mind if he stays on the clouds or by White Dragon Mountain.

So, the Otherworldly Whale knows that Hill’s world already has Rose’s influence.

”It’s different~” Hill answered cheerfully, ”In Teraxil, as long as the Elven God King is there, Rose definitely won’t interfere with humans.”

”I thought you would say there’s the Goddess of the Earth and God of Time and Space?” Purwell strained his brain but couldn’t understand Hill’s logic.

”It’s different~” Hill chuckled, ”because the one she most wants to kill is the Elven God King.

And as long as her plots don’t involve humans, the native deities of Teraxil definitely won’t interfere... not adding insult to injury is already human deities showing restraint.

The Goddess of the Earth~ although it’s her rational side that governs the world, but... if the safety of the entire world isn’t affected, I think she wouldn’t care either.

Although Rose is sinister and vicious in character, daringly doing anything, she always assesses the situation and won’t go too far without a chance to suppress the native deities of Teraxil.”

Then he suddenly smiled gently: ”Really, what am I talking about with all these grand theories~

They’re all useless pleasantries for outsiders.

Teraxil is obviously different, let’s not mention Rose, even if AO comes, I wouldn’t feel much.

Frankly, once I return to Teraxil, I won’t have to live so cautiously, afraid of getting caught up in troubles I can’t handle.

That’s my home, in my home, I just need to stand behind my elders watching the excitement, without worrying about anything.”

Purwell hesitated for a moment, then slowly asked: ”So, for the earlier part, if someone asks in the future, I should respond that way?”

Hill blinked, a bit lost with his Little Whale’s train of thought: ”Who would ask?”

”Rose?”

”Alright, you can start cleaning now, Purwell.”

Hill’s life, though slightly tumultuous, remains cheerful and at ease.

But Stelter Castle fell into chaos.

The news Ellie brought back made them shudder, and the Earl personally led the Guard Squad to search the castle.

Of course, before that, he piled all the silk products in the castle onto the training ground, had them guarded, and directly invited the people from the Alchemist Association to examine these silk products for any issues.

Then he had the butler confine all servants who’ve been in the cave in one room and thoroughly searched their residences.

However, to his surprise, although indeed a few people had taken outsiders’ money to relay information about the Earl’s Castle, they really couldn’t find any traces related to spider silk.

Count Stelter would never think a Great Sage would speak carelessly.

Fortunately, being notified by the Count to check in a specific direction, Finch brought along a precise analyzer crafted by his father to the Earl’s Castle.

And it was confirmed that these silks indeed had some influence on emotions; over the years, with extensive use, they made Lind’s temperament increasingly extreme, especially those thickened sheets, causing his dreams to veer off course.

Furthermore, the malice that surfaced while watching the Archmage in Belfran’s garden patiently instruct his sister, while he struggled to find a glimmer of hope, was also amplified by the environment, leading Lind to ultimately make a foolish mistake.

Although Finch emphasized with a twinkle in his eye, ’Silks can only amplify the malice in people’s hearts, not create it from nothing,’ Count Stelter didn’t care about this bit of sarcasm.

He had long since seen that malice arises from discontent, having served many years in the army.

Yet most people would suppress such malice due to the constraints of reality, never acting on it... as time passes, some thoughts are completely forgotten.

Lind’s little schemes were indeed numerous, but without such continuous amplification day after day, he might have just been a second son full of little ideas... but in aristocratic families like theirs, which second son wouldn’t harbor some grudges?

Just a few years younger, and after coming of age, one is in the sky, the other on the ground.

And most people come to terms with fate after maturing... acknowledging sometimes birth is indeed a trick of fate.

Unless the child is so blunt as to not care at all... but in the Stelter family, there hadn’t been such a fool.

He just asked President Finch again to check if there was any problem with the exotic plants in their little garden... Count Stelter’s mother loved collecting foreign plants back in the day... could there be an issue?

It’s no secret that the silk of Crystal Silk Spiders can be affected by their food... therefore, the spider’s feed is crafted after careful formulation by the butler Ted and his team.

To conceal their feed recipe, Ted even hides it within large orders of food and horse feed, adding several specific materials by a few trusted household servants during the production process.

Count Stelter certainly did not doubt his butler... if anyone could bribe Ted, the Stelter family would have been ruined long ago.

After all, no matter how capable he is, he couldn’t have hidden so many things alone.

Ted is far more trustworthy than Lind.

Hence, if it wasn’t the spiders, then it had to be those few servants making the feed... however, nothing was amiss in their rooms.

Count Stelter quickly thought of his own beautiful and diverse garden.

Lind also failed to resist the impulse to cause trouble upon seeing the Prince there.

Count Stelter wasn’t sure what problem he hoped it would be... if it was the spiders, then Danboro was inevitably in for a great turmoil.

Which noble with some capability wouldn’t have their own silk factory?

But if it was an issue with the garden, and those servants he trusted and appointed, some of whom were dowry servants from his own mother... the very thought made Count Stelter’s heart tremble.

Back when Helena was pregnant with Lind, she almost ended up dead in an attack by pirates... it had always left him with some doubts.

His wife wasn’t weak in combat; she concealed her true ability only to avoid becoming the royal family’s exclusive guard.

If it were purely about combat prowess, he might have lost to Helena in the training ground.

And yet, during that incident, Helena was unexpectedly weakened.

Though everyone said it was due to carrying Lind, who had magic power, and being overly fatigued... yet when giving birth to Ellie, Helena even helped carve out new spaces within mountain chambers—cleaving mountains with a sword.

Count Stelter, with no expression, watched as the alchemists tested those rare plants that either came from foreign lands or deep mountainous regions, suppressing his inner tension and unease.

He waited from high noon until the sun set in the west.

”Count Stelter.” Finch approached with a pair of tweezers holding an especially enchanting golden orchid, ”Where did you obtain this kind of golden orchid?”

”Golden Cloud Orchid?” Count Stelter asked in surprise, ”How could there be an issue with this flower? It was examined!”

This orchid was purchased by his mother from overseas merchants.

Each flower stem could bloom at least 20 dazzling golden blossoms, and when they bloomed, they resembled golden clouds drifting across the sky. Moreover, within a hundred meters, they exuded a thick, intoxicating fragrance, so his mother adored these orchids, even creating a large flower pond in the garden specifically for planting a vast collection.

But being foreign plants, they had indeed invited more than one alchemist to examine them back then!

”I know.” Finch said calmly, ”The original identification documents are still in the Alchemist Association. Before coming here, I specifically reviewed them.

Initially, I didn’t suspect this flower, but... I felt the floral scent seemed different from what was described in the identification documents.”

Seeing the Count’s incredulous expression, he sneered: ”Count, you probably wouldn’t understand the difference between being bathed in sunlight and feeling slightly intoxicated, would you?”
