Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1464: Chapter 42: Aesces Will Surely Be Pleased by the Bustle

It seems like the Stelter Family is ready to make a move.

Hill couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Don’t you know him?”

Ellie suddenly lifted her head, then quickly lowered it again, ”Using the Scaret People in Danboro isn’t considered a sin.”

”Don’t provoke him again.” Hill warned calmly, ”If you try to do something after I’ve said this, even if you’re killed right before my eyes, I won’t care.”

Ellie couldn’t help but shudder... She understood very well what it meant for a Great Sage to say such words.

She almost led her family down a path of destruction!

Ellie could no longer blame her brother for his recklessness.

If Lind was just driven by jealousy, hoping that Great Sage Belfran would be so harassed by all sides that even he would abandon her as a temporary student, then her selfishness could have truly endangered all her family members.

The difference between a prince and a prince protected by a Great Sage is vast; she certainly understood that.

Ellie silently grasped the hem of her dress, trying hard to recall all the ties between herself and Prince Scaret... then let out a long breath.

Fortunately, her performance was interrupted in the charm-spreading stage because of Teacher Belfran’s arrival.

This was very normal in noble society... All women took pride in making men from opposing factions fall at their feet.

As long as there was no real progress, no private meetings, these were minor issues that no one could blame her for.

Ellie looked at Teacher Belfran with extreme gratitude, ”Teacher Belfran, without you, I would have made a huge mistake!

This is far worse than Lind’s mistake.

Lind... only brought shame to the family.”

Belfran’s identity couldn’t be kept secret, especially since the Stelter Family definitely wanted to show off this Archmage’s ability to naturally promote Lind to a mage.

Only, after being fully prepared, slowly leaking the news is vastly different from being caught off guard like now for the Stelter Family.

Ellie knew that Lind had always been able to act according to people’s expressions since he was young, and even when acting spoiled or playing tricks, he never crossed Count Stelter’s bottom line.

This time, Lind probably also thought that the trouble this incident brought to the Stelter Family wouldn’t affect the family’s future, which is why he used the same method for matters related to the family’s safety.

But Ellie didn’t think that their father would tolerate his actions this time.

In Count Stelter’s heart, the future of the family comes first.

He could even sacrifice himself... An assassination from desert thieves is no joke, and although that nosy fellow Ismael helped share a lot of the burden, how could a true powerhouse be discovered so easily?

For the past five years, the Earl hasn’t been free from serious injuries, he’s just been covering them up.

Not to mention his beloved wife, valued eldest son, and adorable children, if it’s for Stelter’s future, even with tears in his eyes, he could heartlessly give them up.

Hill glanced at her slightly, ”You’re still a child, and always being held in high regard in Basia City, thinking yourself smart enough to handle any situation is normal.

At least you have boundaries, that’s why you could avoid this disaster.

Be careful in the future, it’s okay to be strategic, but don’t easily play with schemes.”

Ellie stood upright before the desk, bowing respectfully, ”Yes, Teacher Belfran.”

Then she supported herself on the desk, leaning slightly forward, ”Teacher Belfran, it seems the Desert People place great importance on this Magic Tower’s items.

But now everyone knows that father sent the items to you overnight... so...”

”It’s okay.” Hill smiled, ”Can they possibly...”

Suddenly, a piercing bell resounded in the study.

”Ah...” Hill silently closed his mouth, then motioned to Ellie, ”You should go back, no need to worry about my affairs here.”

He sneered, ”Just in time, I recently researched an interesting array, having more people to test its power on is not bad.”

Already beginning alchemy lessons under Yanos, Ellie knew this was the timed bell set by Teacher Belfran sounding; he was probably doing an experiment and got disturbed by her, as usually, she would only come the afternoon of the next day.

This time she had been too reckless... however, compared to letting Teacher Belfran learn about it from someone else later, she could only rudely interrupt.

Fortunately, before coming out, her last bit of rationality made her confirm first: last night after Count and Countess found out what Lind did, they hurriedly sent everything from the Magic Tower to Mr. Belfran... even including some little fine strange objects that Count Stelter originally wanted to keep for himself.

Otherwise, Mr. Belfran’s attitude probably wouldn’t be so good.

After yesterday’s warning, Ellie gained a little understanding of this Great Sage... A gentle demeanor doesn’t mean he himself is truly that gentle.

It’s just that many things, which seem significant to Ellie and her friends, would barely cause a ripple in the eyes of a Great Sage.

Ellie bowed her head, respectfully asking to leave, then pondered in her heart what kind of gift to bring next time... This time she came in a hurry and only managed to find an oil painting in her little treasure chamber, said to depict the scene when the true half-elves, who hadn’t left the Forest of the Elves, evacuated Aesces.

This is one of the few things she could be certain that Mr. Belfran might have some interest in.

There’s no other choice, she can’t afford to wait... After all, the Archmage likes to go out in the afternoon to stroll and see the customs, and then if the Stelter Family doesn’t react, someone will inevitably speak a few words of apology on their behalf.

Before leaving, Ellie glanced at the bamboo woven chair placed in the living room... This should be the piece that Mr. Belfran suddenly took a liking to a couple of days ago from that Bamboo Weaver.

No one would think that the Great Sage would empty a stall on a whim with any particular goal in mind.

He always prefers buying handicrafts, occasionally even buys a couple of unwanted ancient artifacts.

The so-called antiques, once they enter the market in Basia City, those high-level shops would let their appraisers take a look to ensure they’re nothing but items showing the passage of time, only then allowing free buying and selling.

Clearly, the Great Sage Belfran is just whimsically buying things... probably as compensation for those stall owners he disturbed.

How can I put it? Although he doesn’t act arrogant, with a high-handed attitude, just his presence can silence the market and make everyone cautiously avoid him.

So he buys whatever catches his eye... of course, at market price, though this Great Sage is actually quite clear about the bottom prices here.

There are a few who dare to shout high prices in front of him, although he doesn’t show any anger, he will avoid those areas from then on.

However, these few people didn’t end well... Even if he didn’t reveal his identity as a Great Sage back then, he is also a High-level Mage!

Officials managing the market, no matter how bellyful and careless they are, won’t let such fools continue to obstruct the esteemed Mage.

Of course, if Mr. Belfran didn’t care, even didn’t know, maybe they wouldn’t manage it.

Anyway, it’s not them whose lives are at risk once discovered, but they definitely have extra income.

Furthermore, this Great Sage also showed some interest in buying plants and trees to take home and even didn’t mind some ordinary fruit trees.

Mr. Belfran’s puppet does household chores quite well, even managing the front and back gardens excellently; Ellie hasn’t seen a plant that she couldn’t grow.

Especially some seeds accidentally outflowed from the Forest of the Elves, she could actually grow them.

The first time Ellie saw the little tree that looked like white crystal, she almost thought she was dreaming.

It’s a pity, even if the Crystal Tree matures, it takes three years to bear fruit, she doesn’t even know if she still has the opportunity to see it... Although Mr. Belfran did not reject her continuing to learn, yet three years later, what’s on those notes should be taught entirely.

Recent events made Ellie increasingly feel Mr. Belfran’s indifference, often he wasn’t unmoved due to deep scheming, but simply did not care.

Rather than being concerned about their grievances and enmities, Mr. Belfran prefers tending to his garden.

Ellie stood at the villa’s gate, looking at the beautifully landscaped garden harmonizing fruit trees and ornamental trees together restrainedly... Yesterday, standing here felt like the sky was high and the sea wide, with a relieved mood.

Today, the same scenery, why does it now look full of desolation?

When a person is mentally exhausted and even doesn’t know what to do, will their eyes not see the brightness?

Ellie lifted her skirt hem and slowly walked towards the door.

”Sir, please don’t make assumptions randomly.” Purwell said solemnly in the study, breaking the ring of the bell that interrupted Hill’s words, ”We’ve all been sent to this damned place by your terribly skilled mouth... Can you be a bit more cautious?”

”As long as the outcome is good, then it’s fine!” Hill said defiantly.

”Ha~” Purwell said mockingly, ”Should the Sir ask List, who can’t even send out a voice, whether he feels this is a good ending?”

Hill pursed his lips.

Then he looked at the garden outside and spoke: ”The Array seems to be completely finished! The emotional manipulation just now seems quite successful.”

”Yes.” Purwell said with great certainty, ”If even Ellie with her will can be so easily affected, then probably anyone below Mid-level Magician staying in the Enigma Array for more than ten minutes could be ensnared.”

Hill started to laugh: ”That’s sufficient.

Aesces should be quite satisfied, right?

Basia City in the future will surely be very lively.”
