Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1488: Chapter 66: Don’t Mistake Courtesy for Favor

Helena coldly looked at her daughter: ”Ellie, your noblewoman’s education was initiated by me.

The things you can think of, I gave up twenty years ago.

This time, you got lucky, running into Great Sage Belfran just when you were about to play those little tricks.

But...

Your luck does not equate to the Stelter Family’s luck, understand?

Do you see those enemies secretly eyeing our family? Do you think if you truly had a flirtation with an enemy prince, you could hide it from anyone?

You didn’t even hide it from Lind!

Don’t tell me it’s because you weren’t guarded against your little brother... the moment you dared to play this dangerous game unguarded, the ending was doomed!

If your superficial thoughts lead to the family’s downfall, what do you plan to do?

Surely, you don’t think any prince would marry a woman without a family?”

”She was lucky to live.” Lind tilted his head, smiling, ”And then she’ll spend her life living for revenge!

I believe my dear sister still wouldn’t live her life freely.”

”I... didn’t intend to have any private contact with the other side, I thought meeting only in the Hall of Abundance wouldn’t matter.” Ellie lowered her head and said slowly, ”But now I know, as long as someone is determined and vicious enough, even a trivial matter can turn into a disaster.

I will no longer hold onto such wishful thinking in the future.”

Yanos pondered and turned to her: ”Ellie, I hope you understand, Ismael may rely heavily on luck and seem irritating... but his talents are so high that he can completely dissolve the resources brought by luck.

This is the foundation for his arrogant survival until now.

Your talent is decent, but your luck seems to surpass your talent, if you’re not careful, you might be crushed by your own luck.”

”Pa!”

”Mom?” Lind was extremely surprised, ”Why did you hit me?”

”Your sister is arrogant and made foolish mistakes because she thought too highly of herself, and you?” Helena couldn’t help but hit him hard again, with a sound so loud that Ellie, curled up on the sofa, couldn’t help but shiver.

”I... never thought there would be such terrifying enemies targeting the family!” Lind couldn’t help but defend himself, ”I was planning to wait for her to really hook up with the other side, then let Uncle Steward find out directly!”

Ellie silently lifted her head, glaring viciously at her brother... In the entire Stelter Family, it was the steward couple Ted who loved her the most.

Lind intended to sever her foundation.

”Why do you have such a big grudge against your sister?” Helena asked puzzledly, ”I see you don’t even take Ditte that seriously!”

”Ditte never tries to snatch things from my hands.” Lind glanced lightly at the female steward standing in the corner, ”But Ellie...”

Feeling Lind’s gaze, the female steward couldn’t help but shake her head and smile wryly.

Back when Helena planned to use her assets to buy a golden path for Ellie, she also tried hard to dissuade.

But... whether she gave it her all, she couldn’t be sure herself.

After all, she and her husband preferred Ellie.

But the couple surely wouldn’t continue to spoil her if Ellie took the entire Stelter clan’s life to gamble.

Lind’s style might be a bit harsh, but he grasped the key point correctly.

”Pa pa pa!” Helena knocked Lind several times in succession and growled angrily, ”I’m not dead yet!

And you’re already thinking about dividing my wealth?”

Lind was stunned for a moment, then said sullenly, ”Then what can I hope for?”

Yanos said harshly, ”Isn’t your own future something you should strive for yourself? Your parents have given you the best nurturing you could achieve.

In this era, as long as you have ability, there’s a path. Do you plan to marry off yourself?

To marry, ha~ that’s a bird that can never return to its nest, your mother can only give once.

But even if you divide the family, can’t you continue to gain benefits from her?

Don’t always look at how much others have gained, also see what they lost!

Tsk~

If I were...

Forget it, there’s no point in saying if.

You, kid, have suffered too little, that’s why your mind is so narrow!

Lady Helena, do you plan to rebuild the castle?”

Helena nodded blankly.

Lind held his breath... Yanos had officially taken him and Ellie as students, and regarding their education, even Helena couldn’t stop Yanos’s decision.

”When the time comes, let Lind make the stone bricks.” Yanos said calmly, ”Let him understand how a mage apprentice supports himself.

As for Ellie...”

He glanced at Ellie, who was holding a round pillow and hiding her face behind it, and smiled slightly: ”Just right, she needs to train her synchronization with wind elemental creatures, so let her carry the stone bricks!”

Helena immediately nodded: ”Of course, your decision, Ellie and Lind will obediently follow.”

”I...” Ellie turned her head to glance at the white villa next door.

”Ellie, the agreement between the Stelter Family and the Great Sage Belfran has been fully completed,” Yanos said, furrowing his brows. ”You may visit again, but absolutely not as frequently as before, understand?”

He stared closely at his student: ”I don’t know how gentle and kind he is, but I do know that respecting the powerful is the rule of this world!

Don’t mistake the other’s kindness as your blessing, understand?”

Ellie put down the pillow and stood up: ”Yes, teacher. I... will definitely be careful.”

She glanced sideways next door... their conversation on the terrace must have been overheard from start to finish by the Great Sage Belfran.

However, there was no reaction from the other side to Teacher Yanos’s warning.

This shows that he indeed thinks the same... completely not intending to break any rules for Ellie.

Ellie bit her lower lip with her teeth, applying slight pressure... the pain froze the fleeting fantasies in her heart.

She gently bowed her head: ”I... will definitely be careful.”

Helena glanced at her twice, shook her head slightly, and turned to walk out the door.

”Countess...” The housekeeper followed behind her and could not help but speak after getting into the carriage.

”Don’t worry about her,” Helena said calmly. ”It’s normal for a young girl to have some fantasies when she meets someone so outstanding.

It’s the praise she receives all over Basia City that makes Ellie feel she is invincible in the realm of romance, daring to play emotional games!

Ha~ After facing setbacks, she will understand.”

”Still, it’s a bit of a pity,” the housekeeper said after a few seconds of silence.

”What’s there to pity, someone like Great Sage Ismael, there’s only ever been one throughout the ages,” Helena laughed, ”But, what self-respecting girl would want to be a tiny part of that?

Among those willing to accept it, aside from the first who could only consider themselves unlucky, don’t the others have their own schemes?

As for... this Great Sage Belfran, I never thought he would be interested in Ellie.

Didn’t you just say that the partner of a wolf can only be a wolf?

Ellie is indeed outstanding but not outstanding enough for the moon in the sky to lower itself.”

The housekeeper sighed: ”Madam has always been very rational.”

”The Stelter Family is always walking a tightrope,” Helena sighed, ”I suppose you understand why I must rush to the castle immediately.

From the beginning, the Earl admired Great Sage Ismael, I can’t let him make the wrong decisions.

As for those mysterious visitors from beyond, we should observe them for a while first!

At least, not all at once.

100,000 of these Level 5 Professionals... even if they’re a bit weaker than those who trained themselves, ha~ even at their weakest, they’re still Level 5!

One can only hope that this Great Sage knows what he’s doing... surely he won’t be reckless enough to make them Level 10, right?

Then what would we ordinary folks be needed for?”

Hill retracted his intense gaze... because of the intense focus, his eyes were a bit widened, a bit prolonged, and a bit strained, forcing tears out.

Under the illumination of the moonlight, his unusually bright green eyes reflected light.

Ellie’s small thoughts hadn’t affected him at all... Hill found that what Yanos said was right.

The presence of a proper teacher indeed helps one know what to do and what not to do.

Before advancing to a Mid-level Alchemist, Ellie really shouldn’t appear in front of him unless there is something important she needs to relay.

Casting away those unnecessary distractions, Hill’s mind echoed with the thought ’He actually summoned 100,000 people in his first try’!

If it starts with 100,000 people, and even more in the future... has the entire Northern Continent server been activated?

Tsk tsk~

No matter how capable Great Sage Ismael is, he’s just one person, and now managing the server can only be left to Aesces himself... he can’t possibly enlist All Gods as admins and customer service now?

Hmm...

Hill blinked his eyes: If that’s the case, perhaps in the future, this world would be dominated by Tritons... All Gods either completely lose the will to exist or outright rebel.

Is game customer service a job meant for humans?

No matter how perfect the game... it’s impossible for a game that satisfies everyone to exist in this world.

Just like William, no matter how cautiously he behaves, he still ends up being cursed.

Hill raised his gaze to the glaring moon... it seemed pretty normal, indicating Aesces is still striving.

Without the unparalleled thickness of William’s face... let’s hope Aesces’s ears are still fine, and his brain hasn’t exploded yet.

Hill flashed an exceedingly gentle smile at the sky.

Three years?

If Aesces can hold on for three months, it’s considered a victory.

Of course, if Aesces completely gives up and shuts down the server, that’s another story... but by then, the players running all over would have already activated all the Silk Spiders, is he going to let All Gods in to clean up the mess again?

That would certainly delight Tritons!

These spiders may not greatly fear water, but their nature still resists nearing the sea... Scaret would surely be fine.
