Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1096: Chapter 889

Hill looked at the giant screen and showed a gentle smile. Leonard had won Edna’s favor, but it was clearly not love, meaning he was in a controllable range of danger.

As for always encountering big bosses because of his good relationship with Edna, there’s no need to worry. When the heroine faces real danger, she’ll explode with a cosmos burst.

On the contrary, most of those who split up are doomed… if there is a male lead, given the fate-shaped melodrama, an annihilating result wouldn’t be surprising.

Furthermore, Nature Mages are primarily supportive, and with Priests and Paladins unable to act now, Leonard, who can help heal, detoxify, and lift curses, hardly has any chance to exert himself.

In a traditional Western adventure party formation, Leonard should be the one standing behind Edna.

On the giant screen, Edna was like a little whirlwind, spinning around in the Hidden Town… every store owner who knew she was about to go on an adventure would smilingly give her a farewell gift, and then watch her buy the same for her Half-Elf friend.

When the four Junior Mages followed the little girl with their entourage, they twitched their mouths and also bought Edna’s exact set.

However, the Mithril Elves who have always spoiled the only underage in this town did choose the same adventure gift boxes for them but specifically gave the Mages universal versions, either gray or black.

Edna’s tools and equipment were crafted with alternating pink and silver colors, obviously made using Mithril and Aurora Colored Steel… Besides the particularly girly color, Aurora Colored Steel can self-repair, combined with Mithril’s extension, making this set of tools enough for Edna to use until transcendent.

The Mithril Elves probably prepared for the day this little girl raised by the leader would leave long ago.

So when Edna, holding Leonard’s wallet, ostentatiously shouted for another set at the elves, the Mithril Elves unsurprisingly brought out a set of indigo and silver-colored similar tools.

Aurora Colored Steel essentially has two colors… The elves probably thought Edna might dislike pink when she grows up, so they prepared two sets for her.

The timing couldn’t be better for Leonard.

As for those outsiders who followed… Knowing these people were dispatched by Edna’s father, the Mithril Elves really weren’t welcoming these human mages.

Is this not a reminder that the heir they’ve been raising for years has real parents waiting to reclaim her once nurtured?

It’s already kind of the owners to sell them some ordinary sets made of steel rather than scrap iron, showing even a tad of professional ethics!

The youths from the Permanent Battle between City States Quel Senta actually feel unwelcome, but they don’t sense any peculiar feelings… what is this coldness anyway?

It’s known that as a slave state, leaving one’s city could result in danger anywhere.

Even within their country, they must constantly be vigilant about their safety… Quel Senta has many City States antagonistic towards magic, where those not careful could be assassinated without a trace.

Furthermore, some City State nobles consistently consider themselves privileged, insisting on having elf slaves serve them… Many who’ve harbored such intentions have died to the elves’ curved blades, yet fools still line up to perish.

It’s known that a multi-racial elf squad has roamed near Quel Senta for long, always poised to rescue kin upon news and eliminate senseless slave masters.

In departing, their elders advised most clearly to announce their city, not country.

Especially since they’ve arrived at one of the elf strongholds, they shouldn’t claim to be Quel Senta people; they might be dragged down by foolish peers.

Though elves bicker among themselves fiercely, they unite outwardly… including Zholar.

These dark-skinned elves, upon encountering enslaved elves, instinctively eliminate both the enslaver and elf together.

To the youths, the Mithril Elves’ attitude is already quite decent, coldness is better than hostility… Little do they know, the elves present in Hidden Town have returned from the Outer Plane and are poorly informed about continental affairs.

Mithril Elves departed during the height of elf power… The Crown War began because, after vanquishing dragons, they found no more foes worthy of battle aside from themselves, right?

These Mithril Elves never imagined elves could be enslaved one day.

If they’d encountered Day Elves, Moon Elves, and Wood Elves from Agleya City, their luck might have been less favorable.

Having followed Edna around the entire town, the mage youths from Quel Senta realized… Although the girl consistently treated them coldly, she didn’t intend to abandon accompanying them on the adventure.

Yet her elusive attitude was clearly evident.

It meant Miss Edna had her own ideas on this coming-of-age journey… Should they fail to meet some of her conditions, she might choose to ditch them.

That won’t do.

Mage travel assignments aren’t aimless wanderings, being dispatched naturally means they promised to complete this coming-of-age trial alongside Edna.

No matter the progress in relations with Edna, tasks take precedence… Failure in the mage’s graduation task means indefinite postponement.

If not for Edna, such talented apprentices who’ve learned exclusive Magic Tower spells couldn’t have received graduation tasks this early.

It’s customary to await opportunity until transcendent: structured spells surpass ordinary prospects, impossible to escape without peeling layers!

Otherwise, only families with exceptional status using particular methods to ransom their child from the Magic Tower could possibly… Yet on Azuth’s sacred turf, who has the power to suppress the Magic Tower?

For youths of promising backgrounds, early graduation is ecstatic for them and their families!

Otherwise, they wouldn’t bring so many excellent warriors along, all provided by their families for extra protection.

But now, those youths who’ve calculated too much start to regret… They should’ve chosen the strongest bodyguard instead of picking the best from what’s lacking.

They sensed that Edna, guarded by Teraxil Elves, might disdain their followers, hence behaving in such a way.

Moreover, that Half-Elf… Even during the Magicplague, when magicians’ abilities were limited, wouldn’t one suffice against all of them?

This while having considerable magic scrolls at their disposal.

Thus, the Scroll Mage who’d been of distinct status finally formally became the leader of their group… He previously tried representing them to communicate with Edna, but the other three’s clear defiance made him hesitant to approach.

He wishes for nothing more than agreeing with Edna, devoid of being dragged by the others, for that would be shameful enough!

He never entertained thoughts of companionship… Engaging in a speculative romance with the mentor’s daughter when emotions haven’t matured yet, requires utter foolishness!

Unless genuinely fond of Edna, he won’t exhibit an ounce of frivolous admiration, hence he meticulously arranged his subordinates for authentic adventure travel from the outset.

What genuinely deterred him was the knowledge of Edna’s father being a high-ranking Azuth Church official and her mother the daughter of Elaströ… As an ardent believer in the Deity of Mages Azuth, he definitely doesn’t want his people embarrassed before Silvermoon City’s Mystra worshippers.

“Miss Edna,” said the Scroll Mage, first to approach the lovely young lady seated on a garden bench in front of the Space-Time Hall, calculating shared food supplies with the Half-Elf Mage.

“Devis. Are you all ready?” Edna smiled and asked, her eyes twinkling.

Devis Pease nodded with a smile: “Does Miss Edna have any suggestions about our adventure or any preferred destination?”

Edna pursed her lips, revealing a half-smile… Did these mages only think to ask her that now?

Arriving at Hidden Town, they still planned to maintain control?

Wishful thinking.

Clearly, they were outsiders, yet desired to be her masters!

Lynn, though a bit worrisome, arrived just in time.

No matter Leonard’s offensive capabilities as a Nature Mage, a potent Transcendent Mage was sufficient to overpower their entire group.

At this point, if clever enough, they should understand whose words to heed post-departure.

If they fail to grasp this, why should she venture out with a bunch of fools?

So far, Devis Pease appears intent on struggling a bit, but at least they understood to bow before her!

The rest depends on how much Edna can accomplish.
