Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1093: Chapter 886: Leonard’s Helplessness

Hill quickly discovered an amusing reality… The four junior mages, each with their own thoughts before, were now all filled with admiration for Edna.

Fifteen-year-old Edna had grown into a beautiful young lady… Her brown, waist-length hair was half tied into a bun above her ear with colorful ribbons, while the rest cascaded down, dancing with starlight in the breeze.

Her black crystal-like eyes sparkled like starlight, and even when she looked at people nonchalantly, there was a captivating charm.

Accustomed to the attire of the Undead Tribe and Elves, when Edna gracefully arrived in a light green fitting robe, everyone who saw her offered sincere praise.

Although the Teraxil Elves were also very beautiful, Edna’s temperament was still the most unique in Hidden Town… No one else would receive guidance simultaneously from the White Dragon Queen, the Undead Tribe, and the Mithril Elves, so her conflicting aura was very mesmerizing… as long as they hadn’t seen Edna standing on the mast, various White Dragons flying behind her, negotiating passage fees with the merchants in a threatening tone.

So, the other three… having been in Hidden Town for just a few days… the junior mages regretted and started to isolate the unprepared Scroll Mage.

They might not necessarily want to win the beauty’s heart, but they didn’t want their companions to benefit either… If no one succeeded, then at least they were still good friends.

Hill watched the seemingly harmonious but actually scheming mode of interaction and couldn’t help but laugh… Lynn was leading his brother towards Edna and the others, and this battlefield without gunpowder might welcome another formidable player.

Lynn’s brother resembled him a bit, just a bit more delicate, but his temperament was different… Strangely enough, despite being pampered, Leonard carried a melancholic aura.

On the contrary, Lynn, who had endured much hardship, exuded warmth and sunshine at first glance.

But Lynn specifically introduced his brother to Edna, so it seemed that Leonard indeed came with a mission.

Edna, who had already decided to go on an adventure, readily accepted this elf friend… As a human raised by Mithril Elves, she was well aware of the importance of traveling for newly adult elves.

Edna also understood that the municipal officers under Lord of Agleya were all savvy and reasonable people.

Lynn wouldn’t blame her if his brother encountered danger while traveling with her, and that was enough… Although she always missed her father, for Edna, at least at this unfamiliar stage, her father’s student was not as trustworthy as Lynn’s brother.

She had been a bit hesitant at first because the adventuring party was entirely composed of their people.

Now it was different, Leonard was sure to take her side… Elves are known to be protective, and Edna deeply felt this; as long as she didn’t set the forest on fire, Kessexili always thought her Edna was cute, innocent, and extremely well-behaved.

Even though at that time, Edna was threatening ship owners with a White Dragon in her left hand and a wild boar in her right to pay quickly.

So, the half-elf who grew up in the Elf Forest and the human taught by elves were inherently allies, needing no discussion, reaching an agreement with just a glance.

Lynn didn’t leave just yet; instead, he led Edna and Leonard to the Space-Time Hall.

The few junior mages exchanged glances, gritted their teeth, and followed Lynn’s group… But as followers of the Deity of Mages, entering other deities’ temples made them hesitate, so they stayed at the outermost greenhouse garden of the hall.

Carrying the Book of All Laws, Edna walked inside with ease… She had played there since childhood; what opinion could Azuth have?

His child being raised by elves, not to mention this was the faith land of Otherworld deities, even if it was Coron’s, Azuth dared not voice an opinion… He never imagined he would owe a favor to Coron.

Although the Father of Elves didn’t really care… the little girl earned the love of elves and the Undead Tribe through her own efforts, what did it have to do with him?

However, Azuth, who was diligently searching for Mystra’s whereabouts, at least dared not demand this descendant only revered the Goddess of Magic and himself.

Of course, once he finds her, he wouldn’t need to worry about this issue.

The Alchemy Hall in Hidden Town was a Crystal Palace filled with various flora, with hanging plants and various vines dividing it into functional rooms.

Lynn calmly led the two children, though internally he was restless… He certainly knew what Edna did regularly, but he didn’t care about such childish antics… Most elf children have ADHD, climbing roofs, chasing chickens and dogs were daily routines.

But the considerate, agreeable little girl before him made it impossible for him to associate with the Lady Midnight.

If that lady had known to listen, she wouldn’t have met the fate of being eliminated by Cyric.

Being taken down in her supposedly safest Divine Kingdom, Midnight indeed was a unique case.

In the absence of large-scale tasks, protection tasks were usually taken by families or teams… Hiring a family for protection was, of course, the most expensive service tier.

Lynn certainly chose this one and generously paid for the services of two families.

Edna naturally chose the Black Rose Family as her bodyguards, she smiled and told Leonard, “I grew up at the Black Rose Family’s residence, so I usually only go out with their family members.

Having no contact with the Undead Tribe, simply choose one with high Merit Points, such families usually have a high task completion rate.

Failure results in point deduction, especially for protection tasks, where nearly no one dares to fail, preferring to spend money to hire help rather than allow anything to happen to their protection target.”

Leonard nodded, then turned to look at his brother again… Actually, he was a bit uneasy before coming here. When Lynn was still in the Supreme Forest, he was bedridden due to his poor health, with his parents always around him.

Later, when Lynn just came of age, he left for his travels and never returned. Leonard knew very well why that was.

Elves never reclaim lost feelings.

So, even though he was sent to join this potentially world-sweeping adventure in Hidden Town, Leonard dared not ask his brother for help.

He was his teacher’s student and was willing to contribute to the Wood Elf’s journey of restoration, but he didn’t feel his brother, who had already left home, was obliged to help him… nor was it necessary.

If something happened to him, it was his fate, and he didn’t want to drag his brother into it… he didn’t deserve it.

All along the way, Leonard thought if he were Lynn, he would certainly feel absurd.

The younger brother who competed for parental love as a child, still wanting him to risk his life?

His teacher had such confidence from who knows where.

But Leonard really didn’t expect that as soon as he arrived in Hidden Town, Lynn would rush over from another city.

Although he was grateful for his brother’s appearance, Leonard felt a sense of gloom… He hadn’t signed up. Who had told Lynn he was here?

What he owed his teacher, he would repay himself. Why must he drag his brother into it?

Lynn looked at his brother, whose eyes were filled with emotions, and couldn’t help but pat his head: “You should choose the Magic Cult! The highest level of escort missions; their Clan Leader will personally come.”

Though neither their parents nor Lynn could be called villains, they never lacked cunning and planning, so how could they raise a naive rabbit?

It’s better to let that old fox handle it! Otherwise, he was really worried his brother would be tricked.

“Brother Lynn.” Following Lynn’s suggestion, Leonard chose the Magic Cult, and hesitated before saying to his brother: “If I complete the coming-of-age trial, can I stay in Agleya?

I can become a teacher at the Magic Academy.”

Lynn chuckled: “You want to stay in Agleya? Lis would probably get so angry that she’d come out wielding a knife to chase me.”

Leonard’s eyebrows drooped: “Once the trial is over, I only need to take care of myself.”

Lynn frowned slightly, it seemed his brother wasn’t comfortable staying at the Forest Tower.

What is that Lady of the Forest up to? Gone mad with thoughts of restoration?

Looking at Leonard’s hopeful eyes, Lynn smiled tenderly: “You are my brother! Of course, you are welcome to come. But, does Lis not know that you dislike those Yerlan Elves?”

Their father, due to his bloodline, didn’t usually interact much with pure elves, yet Lis, though a bit crazy, was always smart!

How could she let Leonard become like this?

Leonard sensed his brother’s dissatisfaction and softly spoke: “It was fine before, until the Magicplague began. The Supreme Forest, which was not much affected, gave our teacher more hope.

Over the past two years, she’s become much more radical.”

Edna, who had been quietly standing by listening to the brotherly exchange, couldn’t help but interrupt: “How many ring-spells can you use now?”

The pointed question made Leonard smile bitterly.

Natural spells have always been gentle, and even if there is backlash, the harm to oneself isn’t significant, but that doesn’t mean there is none.

“Eighth ring.” The melancholy between his brows became more pronounced.

Edna sharply inhaled… She was still using elf spells and ancient types which relied less on the Weave! She didn’t dare use a large portion of the seventh ring spells.

Lynn said coldly: “Did she dare use you as test subjects? How dare she? You were sent by the leader of Aevraestar’s Sword! Without the protection of the Star Mountain Range, those Yerlan Elves wouldn’t survive in the Supreme Forest!

Didn’t you tell Lis?”

Edna interrupted the bard’s accusations: “You don’t understand the matters of mages, he couldn’t have done that.”

Leonard lightly nodded his head.
