Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1083: Chapter 876: Realizing Mid-Fight

Shaer quickly understood the benefits of pushing everything onto Cyric: “You’re right… Instead of everyone thinking I’m linked to that fool, let’s let Cyric come forward!

Anyway, it’s perfectly normal for him to slander Bane, and hopefully he’ll infuriate the guy to death.

Besides, lies are his divinity, he’ll be willing.”

Hill sighed, “But in that case, some responsibilities might fall on you!”

Cyric managed to escape this time, indeed thanks to Shaer, but the path was through the Elemental Realm, Shaer was merely a mediator.

The trouble-loving Prince of Lies would certainly hope few knew about this backdoor.

Don’t think that a win-win situation means Shaer doesn’t have to give anything up; how is that possible?

Whoever speaks first makes the concession, it’s a universal truth.

However, because Cyric harbors strong malice towards Bane, Shaer would only need to concede a little bit for him to agree… Bane plus Magnubiyeh, Dark Sun isn’t afraid.

As for AO, even if he learned how Cyric left the confined space, it wouldn’t matter. It’s AO’s indulgence that allows Cyric to be so rampant.

Shaer’s shadow lingered in silence for a while before slowly speaking: “You guessed right, I just committed to taking on the responsibility of letting him out, and Cyric agreed to spread the word that he informed Celene of this.

But I’ll have to handle Celene myself.”

The mouth of the Maiden of the Sealed Moon, Cyric seemed to find it troublesome too, so he took what he could and stopped… If he made too many demands, what would Shaer do if she asked him to deal with the Moon Gossip Girl?

Though Cyric’s methods are sly and malicious, he couldn’t come up with anything as incomparably deceitful as Celene!

He’s good at hurting others emotionally even if they remain alive, but to lose one’s heart while alive, even a madman would struggle with that!

“The Prince of Lies has been rational for quite a long time this time!” Hill said with a bit of emotion.

“Cyric’s madness is indeed different from that of a real madman,” Shaer reminded calmly, “He merely believes he’s the Lord of All Gods, peerless in the heavens and the earth.

But facing AO, he’s never actually rushed up to fight him, probably having created a status even higher than Lord of Toril for AO in his mind.

He’s a rational arrogant, daring to strike at anyone given the chance.

Yet when faced with enemies, his style is actually quite cautious.

A madman wouldn’t have his patience.”

Hill nodded, finally understanding why Shaer constantly tried to exploit Cyric, not just because he’s reckless.

The extremist and self-absorbed personality of Dark Sun indeed suited Shaer, who of course knows all sorts of secrets; once Mystra and Bane plus the Three Gods of Death are brought up, Cyric usually takes the bait, for in his mind, they are his defeated foes, daring to offend the great God of Gods, they deserve thousand cuts.

But Cyric himself remains maliciously callous without losing any bit of his cruelty due to such arrogance.

However, Shaer’s words did point out one thing, Bane’s animosity towards Cyric seemed comparable to that towards Midnight-Mystra.

And when no one has a clue where Midnight is… Shaer evidently hasn’t revealed Edna’s whereabouts on the Undead Tribe’s territory to anyone… Bane is Cyric’s only thorn in the side.

The battle on the gargantuan screen continued, and after passing the aftermath onto someone better suited to handle it, Shaer finally relaxed enough to enjoy her sister’s battle prowess.

Her tone was light and cheerful, explaining the functions of the April Scepter to Hill… Coming to think of it, she was indeed the person most knowledgeable about the weapon; Celene’s renowned divine artifact, its basic functions were developed because of her.

The Paralysis Wand… The axe of the Goblin Chief God grew stiff in mid-air, struck directly by the sword-shaped magical construct, with silent yet weightless moonlight. It should be Celene’s natural divine arts, Blade of the Moon; despite no wounds, the flames on Magnubiyeh visibly weakened upon contact.

Blade of the Moon’s most apparent effect is its ability to absorb vitality or, rather, life force upon striking.

As for the capabilities of the Shape-Changing Wand, Lightning Wand, and Sanctuary Scepter, they were evident at first glance, and Shaer did not elaborate.

The Goddess of the Night only said flatly: “Only when Celene enters a fury does she wield the April Scepter so dexterously.”

Faced with the goddess’s worldly insight, Hill could only remain silent.

Today’s Shaer might have spoken more than usual due to a surge of high and low emotions… Normally, when Celene wasn’t around, even while watching the giant screen herself, she rarely chatted with Hill.

Perhaps neither Celene nor Magnubiyeh wanted to end the battle… Hill somewhat suspected this brazen sibling of his, always provoking his little sister to fight, the Maiden of the Moon, just wanted to stir things up.

She’s seen a lot, she knew exactly how hurtful her words towards Bane and Magnubiyeh could be!

Not all deities have two gender aspects… That is a talent that only natural gods possess.

At least Bane, who ascended from human to deity, definitely does not have it.

As for Magnubiyeh, among the racial gods, apart from the Father of Elves, it seems they’re all of a single gender.

However, thinking about it, Hill considered that Celene might indeed not know… as long as she conveniently forgot that information, she could confidently claim ignorance.

Deities! It’s quite easy for them to discard some memories.

It’s just that those who hear it suffer a bit.

The opponent of the Undead Tribe, that Great Earth Spirit Priest who summoned his own chief god, had neatly died.

He initially feigned death, but after Celene spoke, this priest grimly found a suitable place to take an axe blow meant for the Undead Tribe lying beside him.

This poor Great Earth Spirit Priest, who had been so proud of beheading others with his axe, was now in utter despair as he was beheaded by his own chief god.

Even the Undead Tribe didn’t attempt to take his head… This guy is probably the first High Priest to summon his deity only to be humiliated, and even in death, he might not enter the Divine Kingdom.

Then, discovering that these two deities have fallen into a ‘don’t talk, just fight’ atmosphere, the Undead Tribe began to slowly retreat.

You can pay to watch a spectacle, but not a fight. Although Celene and Magnubiyeh clashed spectacularly, it was basically the same two moves… Having seen many battle scenes, the Undead Tribe lost interest.

At this time, out of tens of millions, there were actually about a million still alive, crawling slowly trying to leave the battle area, but the angry Goblin Chief God didn’t plan on letting them leave so easily.

Even while fighting Celene fiercely, Magnubiyeh continued to circle and eliminate many people.

So, those hiding in the caves, like ‘Lu Huayu,’ ultimately only greeted a few ten thousand people.

Although the Undead Tribe tried to save money, they were quite clear about whether they could hide… In the end, the survivors were almost all priests.

The knights surely died the earliest, with virtually none surviving, as they squatted at the place closest to the battle center from the start.

As for other DPS professions, they stood as much as possible behind the priests, letting them escape first… When not losing experience, everyone wisely left the chance of survival to the Resurrection Technique.

If experience had been at risk, it would depend on who was faster… The importance of priests could only be shown in money terms, definitely not in experience.

Celene fought enthusiastically, but Magnubiyeh, who only managed to maintain an avatar with the god power network lingering in Toril, was gradually unable to hold on.

At this point, Magnubiyeh, with his brain finally having a buffer from rage, thought that since he fought to a draw relying on fury and the powerful god power incarnation… escaping when nearly defeated might not make people think he’s guilty… right?

Though he was indeed very guilty… Magnubiyeh knew well that his escape would only ruin his reputation further; it’s not his true form that was defeated, and begrudging even a clone to salvage reputation would only cement that shameful charge.

But the reason he met Bane in true form was naturally because that Tyrant Monarch provided enough conspiracies and tricks for goblins to become rulers of the surface, but it required their full cooperation to succeed.

Magnubiyeh had already lost his freedom for this; he could no longer endure the failure of this pre-planned spectacle!

The Goblin Chief God, driven insane by high sunk costs, feigned a move and suddenly leaped into the air, disappearing… he had plenty of Thief’s Stones.

The Legendary Spell Gemstone Leap, he could easily perform it too.

Clearly, Magnubiyeh likely escaped back to his altar.

Celene confusedly glanced at the place where the Goblin Chief God disappeared, her face originally full of dignified and murderous aura now appearing a bit comical due to her tilted head exclamation: “Ran away? Could it be true? Bane’s hobby is so peculiar?”

In the Floating Garden, one person and one god fell into silence because of her words.

After a long while, Hill couldn’t help but ask, “Honorable Goddess of the Night, did the Maiden of the Moon know what she was saying from the beginning?”

Shaer coldly said, “I figured it out halfway through, otherwise Magnubiyeh wouldn’t have been able to escape.”

The huge goddess statue on the giant screen began to slowly disperse into moonlight, and a ray of moonlight slowly rose from the silver-blue pool in the Floating Castle, Celene’s excited voice transmitted: “Shaer! Bane and Magnubiyeh really…”

“Stop talking nonsense!” Shaer coldly interrupted her, “Clearly, this is preparing for Midnight to walk the path of godhood again. Bane is always useful in this regard.”

Celene unwillingly let out an ‘oh~~.’

Shaer was silent for a few seconds before saying, “If you claim that this was told to you by Cyric, then you can spread it to anyone’s ears… after all, anything the Dark Sun says is normal.”
