Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1075: Chapter 869: Talents Abound in the Undead Tribe

’Snow Cloud Peak’ turned his head and showed a smile that made ’Lu Huayu’ suddenly have a toothache: ”I have to go command the battle at the front, so I’m leaving Prince Holmes in your care.

Show him your most hospitable attitude. Although the Young Master is still in Kalinsan, he surely hopes our guest receives an even friendlier reception than himself.”

’Lu Huayu’ forced a wry smile, speaking in an exceptionally gentle tone: ”I understand, rest assured... I will treat our guest like my most beloved lover.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ quickly turned to face Prince Holmes, sincerely expressing his apology: ”I’m very sorry, Prince Holmes, I must go to the fiercest part of the battle; the goblins won’t let this situation last long.

I’ll have to leave the deputy commander here to accompany you for a while.”

Prince Holmes was slightly moved, and then asked sincerely: ”Can I go with you? Such a battle, I might only witness once in my entire life.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ gently shook his head, speaking softly: ”We can’t let paying employers face danger directly... There’s no such thing in any world.

It’s best for Your Highness to watch from a safe place!

Moreover, the view from here isn’t bad either.”

After soothing Prince Holmes, who originally had no intention of going to the front line, with just a few words, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ lightly departed.

’Lu Huayu’ looked around briefly, then walked under a large tree, setting up several sets of tables and chairs: an exquisite and luxurious marble table paired with two delicate white sofa chairs.

The others were wooden round tables that could seat eight people.

Although these wooden tables and chairs seemed a bit plain, they were also adorned with beautiful engravings, and each chair had thick, exquisite silk cushions on them.

”Your Highness Holmes, please come sit here!” ’Lu Huayu’ turned his head with an extremely gentle smile, ”Our commander’s carriage leans towards practicality, so for a royal member like you, who is used to leisure and comfort, it’s probably not very suitable... hard chairs without even a cushion.

However, our commander is always strict about his duties; when he’s around, I wouldn’t dare act so relaxed, especially during war!

But since he’s not here, I prefer a more comfortable lifestyle.”

Prince Holmes smiled, realizing just how powerful the Teraxil Elves truly were, easing the constant worry he’d had... For someone as politically minded as him, it was intolerable to rely solely on the goodwill of others to safeguard his home.

The Yinbutu Royal Family dared to invite foreign armies in the first place, of course, because they had a few dragon liches over level forty backing them.

But they couldn’t expect these liches to help them deal with goblins... Anyone who suggested such an idea might be sent directly to the Bottomless Abyss.

But the Teraxil Elves displayed far too much strength! Their military discipline was very high, and wherever ’Snow Cloud Peak’ looked, even the most sluggish of elves would obey his commands!

Prince Holmes suddenly realized, if these elves wanted to make a move on Yinbutu, before those dragon liches could react, their royal family might be wiped out.

He genuinely felt a bit uneasy... Prince Holmes now finally understood that Lansendel’s Holy Emblem didn’t just guarantee the rights of the Teraxil Elves; more importantly, it ensured the safety of employers like them.

If it were Tyr’s... he’d probably have turned back and taken his dear mother to hide by now.

Fortunately, the Teraxil Elves still had an aspect he could understand.

He looked warmly at ’Lu Huayu,’ who had suddenly become lax, smiling slightly and beckoning the already somewhat dazed offspring of the great nobility.

In Toril, those who became commanders of human armies either had high status or strong abilities.

It seemed the same was true for elves; not everyone reached high positions through abilities, and there was no shortage of idle, pleasure-seeking young nobles who liked to claim military exploits without putting in effort.

That was good.

At least if the Teraxil Elves ever really moved against Yinbutu, he would know where to start looking for a solution.

He happily walked over and sat by the marble table: ”It’s rare to see such a tasteful stone table; you truly have an eye for art.”

Sitting along with him, ’Lu Huayu’ clenched his left hand into a fist, pressing it against his lips before speaking with a smile: ”Yes, I usually enjoy appreciating art performances.”

Prince Holmes thought the elf beside him was hiding a chuckle, but in reality, Lu the Eunuch was suppressing a twitching smile... He could already imagine how much those watching the giant screen were laughing right now.

After all, in the view of the Undead Tribe, ’Lu Huayu’ was seen as a master of tea arts.

But he knew very well why ’Snow Cloud Peak’ left him behind... This prince was very wary of Snow Old Dog, most likely thinking that guy was too cunning.

But his supporting role wasn’t that attention-grabbing.

Isn’t it just beating around the bush to get intel? Why bother bringing up ’Young Master’!

Snow Old Dog isn’t kind-hearted! He makes him work and even tricks him.

When dealing with that ’Young Master’, how much effort would it take?

’Two Lines of Bamboo’ is the one that made him rack his brains.

You have to know, it almost burned out his brain cells to not let that lady with lots of schemes and easy to bow before money follow ’Young Master’.

The result? He still failed.

The biggest mistake was ignoring the differences between generations... He finally realized, even those rich and powerful young masters can be shameless.

As a result, he not only lost fame and money but also suffered a romantic disaster.

If it weren’t for that girl’s persistence, he wouldn’t have sold his hard-earned family and wouldn’t dare to start a new one, becoming the boss’s lackey.

’Lu Huayu’ glanced at the camera hung on the big tree next door, thinking he got himself in trouble; ’Young Master’ probably wouldn’t still target him, right?

Now he can’t randomly draw hatred... The small boss is fearless, but the high-level part-time worker must be careful.

Their boss isn’t really willing to antagonize ’Young Master,’ so he must act humble, well, money-making isn’t shameful.

’Lu Huayu’ composed himself and began communicating with Prince Holmes, who seemed a bit more relaxed... After all, it was this Prince who initially mentioned the relationship between the Magic Towers in Giant Valley and the Kingdom of Sel, a few twists can make this Prince bring up this topic again.

The Yinbutu Crown Prince didn’t notice the elf’s treacherous thoughts beside him, he was willing to introduce to someone who seemed to be in a high position or whose parents were in a high position, yet was clearly young and eager, about the neighbors next door.

After confirming that the liches in Giant Valley secretly coveted Yinbutu’s territory, Prince Holmes was very hopeful someone could deal with them... And the best candidate is right in front of him, isn’t it?

As long as these elves believe that the Giant Valley mages were involved with Bane’s followers who invaded Agleya in the past... How could Giant Valley still leave behind a single bone?

Considering the Undead Tribe’s mastery over fire and light magic, the Undead Canopy is completely useless... It’s not like Sel’s where even deities find it hard to dispel, almost like a puzzle lock with a big undead canopy.

Yet after chatting with ’Lu Huayu’ for a while, Prince Holmes suddenly realized, reputation and justification are most important to the elves!

They, having good relations with several kind alignment deities in Toril, cannot just attack another country simply because they don’t like it, having relations with Bane isn’t the reason.

Even if Giant Valley is just a Mages Alliance, it doesn’t matter.

Prince Holmes racked his brains recalling all the bad deeds done by the Giant Valley liches, even mentioning some lich’s liking for mimic beasts and land-nesting eggs... Mimic beasts are skins worn by liches when out playing, after all, if using magic to change form, it’s easy to be recognized because of mana fluctuations.

Regarding land-nesting eggs... this joke only circulated among the great nobility in the Starfall Ocean makes Prince Holmes unable to help but show a sly smile.

This creature looks like a large mottled gray and brown rubber ball, with six arms extending from its body: three are tentacle arms; three are jaw arms, with multi-toothed mouths at the arm ends, and more than forty long flexible eye tubes.

However, what this creature is most famous for is: through some unexplained innate way, land-nesting eggs can ’conceive’ and give birth to any Prime Material Plane creature it has ever devoured.

These ’eggs’ inherit the innate capabilities from their ancestors but won’t gain acquired skills, no matter how strong these children are, they won’t show hostility towards their parents.

Mimic beast combined with land-nesting eggs, connected with a lich who likes visiting taverns, the implications are obvious.

Hill, always curious about the Giant Screen, silently pressed his forehead, wondering why Toril’s liches, whether dragons or humans, are all hung up on this matter, never forgetting it?

Since they chose the undead form for immortality, they shouldn’t regret it!

In the Giant Screen, ’Lu Huayu’s big eyes were filled with curiosity, constantly urging Prince Holmes to say more, that innocent yet slightly embarrassed, curious yet a bit mischievous demeanor, made the spectators shiver.

However, Prince Holmes was very satisfied with this Lu Eunuch’s performance, pulling some other noble youths to start explaining a lot of small stories in Giant Valley Taverns to him.

Lu Eunuch’s attempt to extract information visibly succeeded... it seems that the lich who liked mimic beasts was one of his original targets.

’Lu Huayu’ felt ’Snow Cloud Peak’ was too serious in one aspect, not understanding that only those who always miss certain abilities they lost would participate in seemingly crazy experiments.

The world of Teraxil, full of natural and elemental energy, is most attractive to such guys.
