Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1077: Chapter 871: A Predestined Victory

Compared to ’Snow Cloud Peak’ who can only roll on the ground, ’Perfect Bald’ really performed perfectly.

His movements were crisp and clean, his reactions swift enough. After grabbing the long arrow, he quickly curled his small body under his shield and called for the knights around him to add a few more layers of shields on him.

So, the second arrow shot by the Goblin leader had no effect either.

But this time, it was clearly not a Magic-Breaking Arrow, but a Dark Magic Arrow. The topmost shield was obviously corroded away... the wail of the ’Magic Sword’ proved it.

Around a dozen knights almost simultaneously threw shields onto ’Perfect Bald’, but his happened to be the last one.

The titles of ’Valley of Fate’ and ’Benshasha’s Beloved’, long circulated among the Undead Tribe, were indeed well-deserved.

’Perfect Bald’ leisurely pushed off the pile of shields on him, gave a thumbs-down to the Goblin glaring coldly at him from halfway up the mountain, and then turned to the ’Magic Sword’ whining while holding its shield, saying: ”I’ll pay for your shield repair... and if it can’t be fixed, I’ll cover half the cost for a new shield. Really, even standing right next to me, you manage to be last.”

A round of light laughter echoed around... it’s truly refreshing to see the unfortunate one’s plight amidst the fierce battle.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ turned and asked: ”Rainfall, have you tallied the Goblin casualties?”

”Almost a hundred million by now.” ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’, who had been threading through the battlefield, somehow walked over.

He likely avoided staying in one spot out of concern for becoming a target of a Goblin sneak attack, but now, it seemed safer here as Snow Old Dog and Baldy attracted more attention than him.

”That should be about right, then?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ mumbled a few words, then picked up his loudspeaker and shouted again: ”Everyone, regardless of your profession, make sure your mana is always above half!

If you don’t want to stop, drink your potion! Don’t tell me you’re out of mana when it’s needed! I won’t listen.”

By the third time he circled the field shouting, the Goblins above started a collective charge... leading the charge were warriors emitting black light.

Obviously, this group of Goblins had grasped Demon Spells.

Following the abyss’s characteristic, it’s basically corrosion and devouring.

Bet they planned to directly break through the low wall in front of the Undead Tribe.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ had just started to shout: ”Earth Magic turn...” before quickly dropping to the ground and rolling randomly.

’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ took over the command: ”Earth Magic, first turn the earth wall into Blue Oak Rock, knights quickly form up!”

The mage then quickly ran off.

This time Snow Old Dog didn’t have his usual luck. The determined Goblin leader shot three arrows simultaneously in different directions... with Old Dog’s luck, there’s basically no chance he’d survive choosing one of the four pathways.

So ’Snow Cloud Peak’ unsurprisingly became a dead dog once again.

Noticing the Goblin movements, Prince Holmes, who had been observing the battle upfront, suddenly stood up: ”Ah? Commander... what should we do?”

’Lu Huayu’ laughed lightly: ”Eh~ Prince Holmes, it’s no secret that we Teraxil Elves, also known as the Undead Tribe!

You’re worried because you’re upset, aren’t you?

No need to worry, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ can continue to command the battle from another perspective.

Many in the command group can help relay his orders.

Besides... how many more Magic-Breaking Arrows could these Goblins possibly have?”

The three Magic-Breaking Arrows used to block ’Snow Cloud Peak’ had already been pinned down under the knights’ shields, no chance of being summoned back.

Prince Holmes hesitantly looked back, slowly sat down.

’Lu Huayu’ took out an exquisite crystal wine bottle: ”Here, have a glass of Elf Wine to calm your nerves! This is Lord of Agleya’s proud creation; even for us, it’s rare to obtain~”

Prince Holmes smiled: ”Ah! I’ve heard this wine holds great significance for mages.”

”Indeed, although we can purchase it, there are many restrictions.” ’Lu Huayu’ sighed softly, filling Prince Holmes’s crystal cup with glittering Elf Wine, ”Yet who can make Lord Hill do nothing but brew wine every day?

This wine demands high standards from its maker!”

Prince Holmes’s eyes lit up as he slowly savored the precious fruit wine, envied by the surrounding young nobles, which even the few Archmages in Yinbutu had seldom tasted.

”Huh?” Celene’s curious voice chimed in, ”Isn’t that the wine Hill drinks every day as water? The Undead Tribe can’t purchase it?”

”Due to certain reasons, William has requested that the alcohol supply for the Undead Tribe should not exceed 1 liter per person per day,” Hill said calmly. ”Regardless of the alcohol content. Juice and potions, however, are unlimited.”

Celene pondered for a moment before understanding Hill’s point: ”So if they want to buy it, they can do so any time?”

Hill nodded slightly: ”The elf wine isn’t very strong, and the undead girls prefer it somewhat. This ’Lu Huayu’ wasn’t really lying, because male undead seldom waste their limit on such low-alcohol wine.

The price of elf wine isn’t considered expensive for them. They’d rather buy cheaper spirits.”

For the undead, feeling the stimulation of alcohol without getting drunk is a rare joy, so of course, they choose the strongest liquor.

Road Eunuch would carry elf wine with him, probably prepared for his boss... The Chief Steward is always very thorough in his actions.

When entertaining the ladies, this kind of elf wine, like that with countless starlights shining in it, more easily wins their favor.

Hill glanced sideways at the moonlight on the pool, thinking Celene wasn’t really interested in this boring war!

Don’t be fooled by how merrily they’re fighting now, it’s just a few thousand goblins of around level 20, they’re no match for the undead... Their fate was sealed the moment they chose to confront the undead instead of fleeing.

He knew these goblins must have some treasures left by the Succubus Queen, but Hill remembered the peculiar things he salvaged from the sea that came from this queen and her lover... Clearly, the primordial power of Toril was a bit excessive in expelling these otherworldly visitors.

At the very least, the Succubus Queen’s palace blew up, and the fireworks from that explosion must have been quite intense, launching these curios directly onto the Great Sea, far from the star-fallen ocean.

With a demon’s nature, any magical objects left for their subordinates wouldn’t be of high level or numerous.

But conversely, if she had given the goblins strong enough artifacts, the Giant’s Ridge would no longer be hers by now.

The goblins, riding their mounts, charged down with a whistle, most of them crashing into the earth wall... However, such brave actions couldn’t knock down a wall just under two meters high.

The seasoned soldiers behind, seeing things go awry, drove their mounts to trample over the fallen recruits, jumping onto the walls, only to be knocked off by numerous large shields.

The harsh reality plunged these goblins, who had long deceived themselves with tales like ’ten-thousand men cannot stop,’ into chaos.

Yet, failing to escape in time meant at least half of the goblins were pulverized by the overwhelming spells of the undead.

After all, there was a wall!

Even a fire element mage dared to take this opportunity to cast a bit more fire.

Three goblins’ commanders, who had been waiting in the mountainside, suddenly moved. Their sharp whistles echoed through the mountain wilds, forcing the undead nearby to cover their ears.

The goblins, who had been running chaotically, seemed to receive some irresistible command, screaming as they charged toward the wall... But anyone could see that their aim was to share some of the spell damage for those goblins who were still attempting to retreat.

Though they always despised the goblins’ stench, a goblin could provide almost 1,000 times the experience of a common goblin, equivalent to the military exploits of 10,000 goblins, making the undead reluctant to waste it.

In that case, the stench was not something unbearable.

Even the Worm Mages didn’t beat a retreat, so what did the goblins count for!

The Cyan Oak Rock Rampart that stood in the undead’s way turned to mud and was swallowed by the earth.

The knights holding shields began their collective charge without hesitation.

Arrows and spells exploded before them... Clearly, someone was calculating attack timing; otherwise, the fire burning on the ground and the ice crystals, fire, and lightning from the sky wouldn’t have ended right as the knights rushed over.

Though the undead reacted fast enough, the countless brave small potatoes still slowed their steps... Even if one slash per enemy was enough, swinging the blade still took time!

The goblins managed to escape one to two hundred, mostly veterans.

They withdrew quickly once they realized something was wrong, not staying in the most perilous place.

But the new recruits were utterly wiped out.

The undead weren’t bothered and continued climbing towards the mountain top, while the three goblin commanders had already reached the partially collapsed palace at the peak with their remaining subordinates.

They still didn’t seem inclined to run away.

There must be something in the Succubus Queen’s palace that they could rely on for defense... Which is why the goblins, knowing fully well the strength of the undead, were confident enough to think they could keep these elves outside with powerful weapons.

”Have the women and children of these goblins already escaped?” Celene suddenly asked Hill, ”Where could they go?”

”The Giant Valley,” Hill replied in a tranquil voice, ”There’s a shrine of Magnubiyeh there.”
