Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 94: Chapter 85: Atypical Influencer

To be honest, even without this task, Li Younan would have gone there.

But for now, he needs to meet with the media center staff first.

...

The air conditioning in the office was humming, and the desk was piled with several printed resumes of online celebrities and past cases.

Yang Hui leaned against the back of the chair, fingers tapping unconsciously on the slightly dog-eared ”Nanchang Gazetteer.”

”The influencer should be here by 2 PM.” Yang Hui pushed her phone towards Old Zhang across the table.

Old Zhang adjusted his glasses and glanced at it: ”Another referral? Whose influence this time?”

”Wang Ke from the Cultural and Tourism Bureau passed it along, said it was recommended by a friend from Zhejiang, quite interesting, young people like it.”

Yang Hui took a sip of tea. ”These influencers... Sigh, their cultural knowledge is still lacking. Last time, with the Ganjiang River expert, he filmed the Tengwang Pavilion and misquoted the ’Evening glow and lone birds fly together’ as ’Evening glow and lone bird fly together.’ The bullet comments were more educational than his fans.”

Old Zhang laughed twice and counted on his fingers: ”The time before last, that restaurant reviewer took the money, but the video was all about showing off his outfit and didn’t clearly mention the name of the crocksoup restaurant. The time before that, the one filming city nightlife almost crashed the drone into the tip of Shenjin Tower... Sigh.”

He sighed, his tone teasing.

”Have you watched his videos?”

”I only added his WeChat for now, haven’t had the chance to watch, but the boss seems to be quite impressed with his videos.”

”Ha, well, let’s wait till he arrives and see.”

”When we meet, follow the procedure, first present this, introduce the core values we want to convey. Then...”

Yang Hui paused, tossed the materials onto the table, making a light ”thud” sound. ”Nine times out of ten they’ll just glance at the title and set it aside, skipping straight to questions about service fees, filming duration, and whether hotel arrangements can be made.”

”The procedure still needs to be followed.” Old Zhang picked up the hefty materials, weighing them a bit, ”What if? What if this one is different?”

Yang Hui twitched the corner of her mouth but said nothing.

Different?

She started planning how to introduce Nanchang during the meeting, how to convey the cultural essence behind the words ”Nanchang” in the conversation, even if the counterpart might not have much patience for listening to cultural nuances.

...

In the afternoon.

Li Younan pushed open the weighty glass door of the Nanchang Media Center, the cold air immediately enveloped him comfortably.

The receptionist confirmed the appointment and directed Li Younan to Teacher Yang Hui’s office.

Teacher Yang Hui appeared younger than expected, with a habitual scrutinizing look in her eyes.

Her handshake was straightforward, with no small talk, directly leading Li Younan into a small meeting room.

She handed over a printed collaboration intent letter, speaking quite quickly: ”Teacher Li, this is a template of the contract we use for collaborating with video bloggers. The payment is based on the video’s impact, take a look.”

”We’ve worked with some bloggers before... Hmm, ones with considerable traffic, but the results weren’t ideal.”

She paused, not explicitly saying, but Li Younan roughly understood—it was nothing more than feeling those people had shallow content or weren’t very cooperative.

Li Younan took the paper, not rushing to look at the terms, but smiled first: ”Just call me Younan. Teacher Yang, to be honest, I really like this place.”

She looked up at Li Younan, a bit surprised he didn’t immediately talk about money or fan count.

She leaned back in her chair and asked, ”Oh? How much do you know about Nanchang’s history?”

”Not very deep,” Li Younan replied honestly. ”I know it’s where the army flag was first raised, know a bit about the rise and fall of the Tengwang Pavilion, and the ancient well of the Ancient Prefecture of Yuzhang dug by Guan Ying. Oh, and those arcade buildings...”

What Li Younan mentioned were just bits of what he knew when he came here.

Yang Hui didn’t continue the conversation but her gaze flickered, and her previously tense shoulders seemed to relax a bit.

Li Younan started looking at the intent letter, the content was quite standard, mainly hoping Li Younan would collaborate on filming short videos highlighting Nanchang’s red culture and urban landscape, co-create and post on his account and the official account, with some resource exchange and token travel fees attached.

The remuneration wasn’t high, ranging from 5000 to 15000, but it was what Li Younan expected.

While reading, Yang Hui couldn’t help but ask: ”You seem... quite young.”

Li Younan nodded, saying, ”Twenty-five.” He looked up and smiled, ”Just resigned recently.”

Yang Hui paused slightly, leaning slightly forward, her eyes showing interest, and asked with a smile, ”What was your previous job?”

Li Younan lowered his head again, saying, ”Previously worked in a publicly listed company in Binhai City, doing software development and maintenance kind of work.”

”A software engineer?”

Li Younan chuckled, ”I wouldn’t dare call myself an engineer.”

Yang Hui asked again, ”Which university did you graduate from?”

Li Younan casually mentioned the name of his alma mater.

Yang Hui’s eyes finally revealed a hint of surprise, among the influencers she had encountered, Li Younan had the best credentials so far.

”With your high education and a decent job in Binhai City, why did you make the unexpected decision to quit and become an influencer?” Yang Hui casually asked.

Unexpected decision?

Hmm...

Li Younan didn’t answer directly. He flipped through the materials in his hand, saying: ”Teacher Yang, if you compare the job of an influencer with that of a software engineer...”

Li Younan looked up, ”Which one do you think is better?”
