Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 74: Chapter 73: I’m Not Interested in Money

The video still needs to be edited. The whole woodworking process takes quite a long time, so it’s obviously not possible to post the raw video directly on the homepage; it still needs to be sent to Brother Long for editing.

Nowadays, the two of them have established a kind of mutual understanding, and Li Younan’s thick skin seems even more natural.

However, when negotiating with the boss, some awkward situations arose. Both of them are novices in this aspect, and it’s clear that this Boss Wang is trying media promotion for hardware products for the first time, and has no concept of pricing. Li Younan similarly hasn’t handled two advertisements before.

In response, Li Younan could only attempt to offer the boss a quote using the promotional price for a sports camera: ”How about this, Boss, last time I took a DJI promotion, the price was around 30,000, and of course, that doesn’t include the other party’s traffic support.”

The boss’s expression was somewhat subtle as he browsed through Li Younan’s homepage on his phone. At this time, Li Younan’s followers had already exceeded 30,000, almost reaching 40,000. While both have 40,000 followers, the difference is clear between 40,000 followers attracted by a handsome anchor and the followers attracted by Li Younan’s video content, and the boss is aware of this.

Nevertheless, he also discovered that anchors with the scale of Li Younan usually don’t reach five figures in pricing, mostly four figures, so he hesitated a bit.

Huang Xiaoyang calmly said, ”This video is definitely going viral, 30,000 is too little, and from an exposure standpoint, charging 50,000 is quite reasonable.”

Li Younan coughed, such boldness, he wouldn’t dare say that himself, but it fits well with Huang Xiaoyang’s personality.

The boss’s expression became even more complicated, and after hesitating for a moment, he asked, ”Will this video really go viral?”

Huang Xiaoyang nodded and said earnestly, ”Because I filmed it.”

Li Younan was stunned for a moment, his mouth slightly twitched...

Humorous.

Clearly, Huang Xiaoyang was joking, he changed to a slightly softer expression and said to the boss, ”Boss, what you want is exposure. When watching this kind of video, you can’t just look at the number of fans. The number of fans is merely a measurement of an anchor’s exposure, but it doesn’t represent exposure itself. An anchor with millions of fans, but only gets two to thirty thousand likes, one to two million views; versus an anchor with 10,000 fans, but gets 100,000 likes and tens of millions of views on a video, which do you think is more valuable?”

Since the boss could grow his business to this level, even if he doesn’t quite grasp the logic of short video promotion in the self-media era, he still has basic judgment. After listening to what Huang Xiaoyang said, he thought for a moment and asked, ”Will this video really get popular?”

Huang Xiaoyang said, ”You can sign a KPI contract with him, like video traffic, number of likes, amount of views, corresponding prices, and pay the appropriate amount when standards are met.”

The boss considered for a moment, felt it was the most reasonable way, and agreed.

Li Younan let out a slight sigh, though they closed the deal, he had a feeling that everything was still rather amateurish, and he realized he was still quite coarse in this area. Mainly because there isn’t someone specifically to manage business matters.

Huang Xiaoyang helped negotiate this promotion, and ultimately the boss offered a 3,000 upfront, and the final payment would depend on the number of plays and likes a week after the video goes live, with the maximum price potentially reaching 30,000. This was the price quoted by Li Younan, which left Huang Xiaoyang somewhat displeased, since he believed it should’ve been quoted at 100,000.

Li Younan felt he was rather reckless, himself being more conservative, still not quite adapted to this way of earning money.

After leaving the hardware sales company, Huang Xiaoyang asked Li Younan, ”Are you really thinking of wandering the world next?”

Li Younan nodded, ”Yes, that’s what I’m thinking.”

Huang Xiaoyang went silent, said nothing, and after a short pause, he said with some admiration, ”I really admire your courage, what’s your plan next?”

Honestly, Li Younan hadn’t thought about it yet. Now that he is back to square one, he took out his phone and opened Gaode Maps, contemplated for a moment and said, ”Or else, I’ve decided to take a trip home, drive all the way back.”

Huang Xiaoyang asked, ”When are you leaving?”

Li Younan smiled and said, ”I’m heading out this afternoon.”

Huang Xiaoyang nodded lightly, ”Alright then, see you next time. Hopefully by then you’ll already have caught up with our little anchor.”

Li Younan made a face of disdain and sneered.

Li Younan planned to drive all the way back home, with his personal considerations. The primary reason was, of course, to visit his mother, which would take about eight or nine months to reach home from here.

Meanwhile, in September, Chengdu will host an Amateur Radio Union conference.

The system automatically generated a Category C operating certificate for him, information could be found online, even his full details were in the database, which amazed Li Younan. However, it seems the system can’t produce something out of thin air, he didn’t have a physical certificate, so he needed to get it replaced through the proper channels at his domicile, Sichuan.

In addition to this, although now Li Younan held a certificate, it’s akin to having a driver’s license for driving, yet he lacked the equipment and a station license, akin to lacking a car and registration, all of which need to be processed at the domicile created by the system in Sichuan.

For someone with a Category C operating certificate like him, the radio isn’t merely a toy anymore; they possess the highest authority, with the permissible short-wave power reaching 1,000 watts, capable of satellite operations, digital repeaters, and other advanced operations.

A slight slip might even lead to legal risks, without a license the National Security Bureau might knock on your door. Excited as he was, Li Younan naturally wanted to eliminate all potential risk hazards.

Li Younan glanced over the map; from Ningbo to Chengdu, he would need to pass through at least three provinces, with plenty of checkpoints along the way. He studied the map silently for a while, his gaze slowly settled on Huang Mountain.

Li Younan sent the video to jk Long, and unexpectedly Brother Long was still awake, quickly responding with a series of ellipses.

Li Younan was puzzled, thinking there might be a problem with his video, he asked in surprise, ”What’s up? Did I capture anything incorrectly?”

jk Long sent an emoji with furrowed brows, saying, ”You know too many things, woodworking even.”

Li Younan chuckled as he swiftly typed, ”Ah, when I was a kid, I learned to build blocks, and what, you didn’t?”

This sentence quite annoyed jk Long, who just coldly sent two ”Haha” in response.

Li Younan got serious, ”About some serious business, Brother Long, are you still not convenient to talk about what your job is?”

JK Long was silent for a moment, then after a bit he replied, ”What do you want to do?”

Li Younan honestly stated his intentions, ”You’re so skilled at video editing, I genuinely want to collaborate formally with you. Don’t rush to get mad, because for now you’re editing the video just out of interest, it isn’t stable, any day you decide not to do it, I’d suddenly lose the ability to manage videos myself.”

”Are you already dependent on me?”

After a while, jk Long sent this message.

Li Younan paused in front of the screen, his expression slightly stiff, an inexplicable strange feeling arose inside him. He couldn’t help but think, could this guy be captivated by my charm? Could it be...

Li Younan cautiously, tentatively, and after deliberating over his words, asked, ”Bro, you’re not in Chengdu, are you?”

Brother Long replied instantly, ”How did you know I’m in Chengdu?”

Li Younan widened his eyes, and then it seemed Brother Long realized something, first pausing as if dumbfounded, followed by hastily and angrily sending, ”What are you thinking! I’m not gay!”

Li Younan quickly laughed it off, ”That wasn’t what I meant, hahahaha...”

After a moment, Brother Long finally settled his emotions and said with chagrin, ”5%, I’ll just take a 5% commission from you.”

Li Younan’s heart slightly stirred; truth be told, industry professionals could get up to 15% in commission for packaging, along with additional income from viral videos. Li Younan couldn’t help but say, ”Isn’t that too little? How about 10%?”

Brother Long said, ”You sure know how to bargain.”

Li Younan sent over a smiley face, ”I hope we can not only be business partners but also friends.”

The other party suddenly grew silent, and after a while, said, ”How about you draft a contract in a bit, let’s go with 5%. You’ll be making loads in the future, 5% is enough.”

After a pause, Brother Long added, ”I’m not interested in money.”
