Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1698: Chapter 1697: More Reliable Than You

Time flies by quickly.

In the blink of an eye, another week has passed.

Because the company received a large order at the last minute, the plan Bai Xiaoxiao originally made to travel with Wen Ran fell through.

Even on the weekend, she had to work overtime.

She worked the entire day on Saturday at the hotel and had to rush through most of the day on Sunday. Finally, at 3:30 in the afternoon, the work was done.

She tidied up the documents and had just picked up the water cup from the table, without taking a sip, when her phone rang inconveniently.

“Hello!”

Bai Xiaoxiao took a sip of water, put down the cup, and then leisurely pressed the answer button.

“Xiaoxiao, have you finished working overtime? I bought you some snacks. I’ll bring them to you in a bit.”

On the phone, Xiao Yuting’s cheerful voice came through.

Bai Xiaoxiao lightly furrowed her brows and refused without hesitation, “No need, I’ve already finished work and plan to go home.”

“Xiaoxiao, I’m about to arrive at your company. Since you’re getting off work, come downstairs. I’ll be waiting for you at the company entrance.”

After saying this, Xiao Yuting hung up the phone.

Bai Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment, then turned off her computer and walked out of the office.

She let the people outside get off work.

As she walked out of the company entrance, she saw Xiao Yuting standing by the roadside, wearing a black leather jacket and black pants, standing in front of his car facing the cold wind.

These days there’s been a cold spell, and the weather forecast said there would be snow in the next couple of days.

It would actually be the first snow of the year.

Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively pulled her clothes tight, tugged at the scarf around her neck, and put her hands in her pockets to feel a bit warmer.

“Xiaoxiao, get in the car first.”

She walked to Xiao Yuting’s side, and with a bright smile, he immediately opened the car door to let her get in.

Bai Xiaoxiao sat in the front passenger seat.

The heater in the car was on, and as soon as she got in, she felt a wave of warmth.

The coldness on her body was also driven away.

Xiao Yuting closed the car door for her, then walked around the car and sat in the driver’s seat.

He turned around and took a box of cheesecake and a cup of milk tea from the back seat.

“Have something to eat, it’ll warm you up a bit.”

“Alright.”

Since he had already bought it, Bai Xiaoxiao saw no need to be polite with him. She accepted it, opened the cake, and took a small bite.

“I was originally worried that you wouldn’t finish, and wouldn’t be able to go to City B tomorrow.”

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao taking a bite, a smile appeared even more prominently in Xiao Yuting’s eyes.

His gaze on her was an open expression of his joy.

Bai Xiaoxiao lightly smiled, “I won’t delay tomorrow’s business trip, but it seems there’s snow tomorrow and the day after.”

“That’s perfect; I’ll watch the first snow with you.”

Xiao Yuting’s smile widened, glowing brightly on his handsome face.

Bai Xiaoxiao glared at him, “I don’t want to see the first snow with you.”

“Xiaoxiao, didn’t you used to enjoy watching the first snow of the year with me the most? Even though it’s been a few years, it’s not too late now.”

“…”

Bai Xiaoxiao gazed speechlessly out of the car window without replying.

Xiao Yuting didn’t mind and continued smiling, saying, “I’m single, you’re single; you could really consider me. Another choice adds another chance for happiness.”

“Having too many choices can be confusing, and besides, I don’t have a habit of going backward.”

“Xiaoxiao, you’re making me very sad.”

“I’m eating cake.”

Bai Xiaoxiao waved the cake in her hand, indicating for him to keep quiet.

Xiao Yuting smiled helplessly and stopped talking.

Twenty minutes later, Xiao Yuting’s car stopped at Bai Xiaoxiao’s house.

“Xiaoxiao, won’t you invite me in to sit for a while?”

Xiao Yuting turned sideways, his eyes blazing as he looked at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao unbuckled her seatbelt and said lightly, “It’s too cold, so I won’t invite you in. Thank you for bringing me back.”

“Xiaoxiao.”

Xiao Yuting sighed lightly, the brightness in his eyes dimming as he stared at her with some sadness.

Bai Xiaoxiao blinked, pressing her lips together without speaking.

“Xiaoxiao, be honest, is that Meng Ke really better than me? Do you like him more now than you did me back then?”

Xiao Yuting’s long arm rested on Bai Xiaoxiao’s seat, his body leaning slightly forward. Originally taller by half a head, now the masculine atmosphere enveloped Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao frowned slightly, instinctively leaning back a bit.

Putting some distance between herself and Xiao Yuting.

She smiled insincerely, “You and Meng Ke are different kinds of people, you can’t compare. As for my feelings for him, they’re based on a foundation for marriage.”

The implication was that her previous infatuation with Xiao Yuting was the ignorance of youth.

This time, Xiao Yuting was really hurt.

For even his complexion changed, “Xiaoxiao, although Meng Ke wasn’t as wild as I used to be, he also has a past. He and Xu Wanqi are the best example.”

“In comparison, Meng Ke is still more reliable than you.”

Bai Xiaoxiao seemed unconcerned about Meng Ke and Xu Wanqi.

Xiao Yuting felt a bit powerless.

“One last question.”

He raised a finger, pursed his lips, and then asked, “Have you and Meng Ke set a wedding date?”

“No.”

Bai Xiaoxiao answered honestly.

She could completely ignore Xiao Yuting because she doesn’t have any feelings for him now.

There was no way she could ever like Xiao Yuting again.

For some inexplicable reason, she was just so sure.

But she still answered, perhaps because Xiao Yuting is connected with Luo Haofeng, subconsciously, Bai Xiaoxiao was still hoping for something.

“Alright, I’ll wait here for you at eight tomorrow morning, don’t be late.”

Xiao Yuting shrugged, withdrawing the hand he had on her seat.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled, “Bye-bye.”

Waving at Xiao Yuting, she opened the car door and got out.

**

The next morning, Bai Xiaoxiao carried her luggage out the door and saw both Meng Ke and Xiao Yuting waiting at her doorstep.

She blinked in surprise; it was agreed yesterday afternoon that Xiao Yuting would wait here for her.

But Meng Ke, wasn’t he supposed to be on a business trip?

How could he appear here?

Moreover, he hadn’t even gone inside, waiting outside instead.

“Xiaoxiao, I was worried I’d come back too late and wouldn’t be able to take you to the airport. Luckily, you aren’t departing early.”

Meng Ke smiled as he approached, reaching out to take Bai Xiaoxiao’s suitcase from her.

Xiao Yuting stood in front of the car, his mouth curled with a faint smile.

“Weren’t you supposed to be back tomorrow? How come you came back early?”

Bai Xiaoxiao walked alongside Meng Ke.

“You’re going on a business trip and won’t be back for several days. If I didn’t come back today, I wouldn’t see you for days.”

Meng Ke’s words expressed his longing for her, and as he spoke, the smile in his eyes grew even gentler.

“Then why didn’t you go inside the house?”

“I also just arrived, ran into President Xiao waiting for you, so I chatted with him for a bit. If you hadn’t come out soon, I would’ve gone in to find you.”

Meng Ke carried Bai Xiaoxiao’s suitcase to Xiao Yuting’s car, but didn’t stop. Instead, he turned to Xiao Yuting and said, “President Xiao, I’ll take Xiaoxiao to the airport, so she won’t be riding with you.”
