Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1659: Chapter 1658: The Girl I Like

“I just returned to the country and haven’t found a job yet. If I go directly to the company to work, will people gossip about me?”

Tian Ruoyi asked, a bit worried.

Mother Luo immediately assured her, “Ruoyi, you’re Ah Feng’s girlfriend and the future daughter-in-law of the Luo Family. Who would dare gossip unless they don’t want to stay in the Luo Family company.”

Seeing that her son agreed, Mother Luo naturally wanted to keep Tian Ruoyi in the Luo Family company.

Luo Haofeng had been on blind dates for some time, and finally, he met someone he was satisfied with. Today, meeting Tian Ruoyi, Mother Luo was also very pleased.

Now, she not only hoped she would join the Luo Family company; she wished Tian Ruoyi would marry into the Luo Family immediately.

“Ruoyi, just agree to it. If you don’t, my mom will probably blame me.”

Luo Haofeng laughed heartily, while Tian Ruoyi hesitated for two seconds. “Okay, I humbly accept then.”

“Then it’s settled. Ah Feng, you should ask Ruoyi what kind of office style she likes and have someone set up an office for her.”

Mother Luo seemed worried that Tian Ruoyi might change her mind later.

“Little Tian just arrived at our house today; don’t say too much. Let Ah Feng take Little Tian to explore our house. You go check on the kitchen…”

On the side, Father Luo, after finishing a cup of tea, put down his cup and spoke unhurriedly.

Luo Haofeng raised his handsome eyebrows and said to Tian Ruoyi, “Ruoyi, let me take you upstairs for a tour.”

When they went upstairs, Tian Ruoyi whispered, “Why didn’t you refuse Auntie’s proposal just now? Are you really going to let me work at your company?”

“Why not?”

Luo Haofeng raised his eyebrows indifferently.

Tian Ruoyi furrowed her delicate brows slightly, “We agreed that this was all an act.”

Luo Haofeng signaled her with his eyes to stop talking and took a few long strides towards the end of the corridor.

Tian Ruoyi followed him to the balcony.

Only then did Luo Haofeng calmly say, “Since we’re acting, we should make it look real. You can work at my company for some time and leave when you say you aren’t used to it.”

“Why do it this way?”

Tian Ruoyi looked at Luo Haofeng inquisitively.

This man gave her the feeling of having many secrets.

Under Tian Ruoyi’s scrutinizing gaze, Luo Haofeng also appeared calm and said coolly, with one hand propped on the railing behind him, “I’m doing this for your own good.”

Tian Ruoyi frowned deeper at his words,

not fully trusting what he said.

“Is it that you have some secrets? I’ve already told you about myself, but you haven’t mentioned anything about your situation. Luo Haofeng, that’s not fair, and it affects our arrangement.”

Tian Ruoyi stepped forward and sat down on a white chair.

Luo Haofeng’s long, narrow eyes flickered, “Let’s put it this way. The girl I like returned from overseas a few days ago. I’m wondering if my mom already knows she’s back.”

“So, you want me to work at your company to make her believe you’re really dating me. ”

Tian Ruoyi was slightly shocked in her heart.

When Luo Haofeng mentioned the girl he liked, there was a fleeting gentleness in his eyes.

Although it vanished in an instant, she caught it.

It seemed he really liked that girl.

“Yes, my mom is strongly against me being with her. So you can’t let her see through our act.”

“Then what is your purpose? To make it appear I’m your girlfriend on the surface while you see that girl privately?”

“Hah!”

Luo Haofeng chuckled.

Tian Ruoyi was displeased with his smile and frowned.

“Don’t worry, I don’t intend to see her privately.”

Luo Haofeng’s smile carried a slight hint of self-mockery.

The fingers propping against the railing slowly curled, the slender fingers threading through the ornate carvings with visible knuckles.

He recalled the conversation he had with Mother Bai a few days ago in G City.

He wouldn’t disturb Xiaoxiao anymore, no matter how much he thought about her, he couldn’t disturb her again.

He didn’t even tell her he went back to City B, and for the past few days, he’d held back and didn’t send her any messages.

But every time he spoke with Mo Xiuchen, he couldn’t help but inquire about Bai Xiaoxiao’s situation.

A trace of slight astonishment flickered in Tian Ruoyi’s eyes.

“Alright, I’ll work at your company then.”

Luo Haofeng did not speak but became lost in thought.

The balcony was momentarily silent.

After a while, Tian Ruoyi’s voice sounded again, “You mentioned your girlfriend just returned from abroad. Could it be she came back from D Country as well?”

Luo Haofeng’s thoughts were pulled back to reality by Tian Ruoyi’s words.

His long eyes narrowed with sharpness, and his gaze shot straight at Tian Ruoyi.

The look in his eyes startled Tian Ruoyi, and her face slightly changed color.

The sharpness in Luo Haofeng’s eyes receded, leaving a faint coolness on his brow, his voice spilled softly from his thin lips, “Yes, she returned from D Country.”

“No wonder you chose me.”

Tian Ruoyi smiled in understanding.

“Whenever you officially become involved with your boyfriend, that’s when our arrangement ends.”

Luo Haofeng glanced at her and added a sentence.

The implication was that he wouldn’t force her.

Once she and the man she loves reach an understanding, he would no longer need her to continue the act.

Yesterday, after hearing Tian Ruoyi’s love story, Luo Haofeng thought that by the time she succeeded in her love, Xiaoxiao and Meng Ke would have gotten married.

The image of Bai Xiaoxiao in a wedding dress, standing with Meng Ke at the church, flashed in his mind, striking Luo Haofeng right at the heart.

It felt like a sharp knife had pierced his heart.

His thin lips pursed tightly.

The phone suddenly rang, and Luo Haofeng closed his eyes, shaking away the image that stabbed his heart.

He pulled out his phone, and when he saw the caller, his eyes narrowed slightly. His long fingers pressed the answer button, “Hello, Xiuchen.”

Tian Ruoyi didn’t want to listen to Luo Haofeng’s phone call, so she got up, gestured to him, and left the balcony.

Luo Haofeng turned his head; from the balcony, he could see the artificial mountain and fish pond below, and the voice of Mo Xiuchen came through the phone, deep and transmitted via waves, “Ah Feng, Xiaoxiao already knows about you having a girlfriend.”

This was Luo Haofeng’s intention.

He asked Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen to tell Bai Xiaoxiao that he already had someone he was seeing.

The hand holding the phone trembled slightly.

His lips curled into a bitter smile. He wanted to say something but found his throat seemed blocked.

After a long silence, he heard his own voice, stiffly ringing, “She didn’t say anything, did she?”

“She said it’s time for you to settle down.”

Mo Xiuchen seemed to have been waiting for Luo Haofeng to ask this question.

After a slight pause, his voice continued, “Meng Ke will be back this afternoon.”

On the other end of the phone, Luo Haofeng chuckled softly, feigning nonchalance, “He’s the one who should travel less for work and spend more time with Xiaoxiao to get to know each other better, so they can marry soon.”

“Are you serious this time?”

Mo Xiuchen’s tone shifted slightly, while Luo Haofeng laughed self-deprecatingly, “Xiuchen, of course, I’m serious. I’ve thought it through.”
