Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1690: Chapter 1689: Concern

“This drink is a bit cold, don’t drink so much.”

Bai Xiaoxiao had just taken a sip when she heard Luo Haofeng’s gentle voice.

She felt a shortness of breath.

With a mouthful of drink, she raised her eyes to look at Luo Haofeng sitting across from her.

She saw him holding a wine glass, but it hadn’t been brought to his lips.

The smile at the corner of his mouth had disappeared at some point, and the originally relaxed brows were now slightly furrowed, looking at her with a hint of worry in his eyes.

It seemed like he was afraid that she’d drink too much cold stuff and get a stomachache.

Meng Ke next to Bai Xiaoxiao had also just taken a sip, and hearing Luo Haofeng’s words, he moved the cup away from his mouth and glanced at Luo Haofeng.

When he turned his head to Bai Xiaoxiao, his eyes were gentle and concerned, “Xiaoxiao, if it’s too cold, switch to something warm.”

“It’s okay, drinking a little cold won’t be an issue.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled at him and put down her cup.

Luo Haofeng didn’t say anything further but instead brought the wine glass to his lips elegantly, taking a sip, and then placed it down, with his long fingers lightly spinning the glass top of the round table.

After moving two of Bai Xiaoxiao’s favorite dishes in front of her, he stopped.

“Brother Meng, Xiaoxiao, don’t hold back, more dishes are coming shortly. We must all eat heartily this afternoon to minimize waste.”

“Brother Luo, there’s already enough food, why not have them stop bringing more?”

Meng Ke looked at the dishes on the table. It was certainly sufficient for the three of them.

Luo Haofeng curved his lips into a pleasant smile, “That won’t do. It’s the first time inviting Brother Meng over for a meal, and in a place like Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, being stingy would disgrace Mo Xiuchen.”

Since he mentioned the grand president Mo Xiuchen, Meng Ke naturally couldn’t say anything else.

He could only smile and express his gratitude.

With Meng Ke present, Luo Haofeng simply encouraged them both to eat more but didn’t serve dishes for Bai Xiaoxiao or anything else.

These things, having Meng Ke as a boyfriend handle was quite sufficient.

Luo Haofeng didn’t urge Meng Ke to drink a lot of wine either. After two glasses, Meng Ke declined, so Luo Haofeng did not insist further.

Instead, he poured himself a third glass.

When the last dish was served, Luo Haofeng asked the server to bring in hot drinks.

“No need to change, I’m fine with cold drinks.”

Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t want to bother, so she hurriedly declined.

Luo Haofeng smiled slightly, “It’s cold now, having too much cold stuff isn’t good. It was my oversight earlier; I should have had them bring hot drinks from the start.”

After speaking, he picked up the cup before him and drank on his own.

Bai Xiaoxiao watched as Luo Haofeng drank, and her ears involuntarily echoed that night with Qiao Siyi’s words.

“…When he was drunk, he was calling your name.”

She lowered her eyes, saying warmly, “You shouldn’t drink so much either. You’ll get drunk later.”

Such words are quite normal among friends.

But Bai Xiaoxiao noticed that once the words left her mouth, the atmosphere in the room seemed to change immediately.

Meng Ke, who was busy with the crab, raised his head to look at her.

Across the table, Luo Haofeng slowly moved the glass away from his lips, and the instant his narrow romantic eyes met hers, they were so deep they were bottomless.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s heartbeat skipped uncontrollably.

Her eyes flickered as she lowered her head, covering her nerves by serving herself more food, while explaining, “You still have to return to City B this afternoon. If you go back drunk, your girlfriend might be upset.”

“President Luo has a girlfriend?”

Meng Ke was too surprised, speaking without thinking.

After speaking, he realized how abrupt his words were.

A man as handsome and wealthy as Luo Haofeng having a girlfriend was totally normal.

But saying it like that made it sound like he had been paying close attention to Luo Haofeng, aware that he had never had a girlfriend before.

Originally looking at Bai Xiaoxiao, Luo Haofeng directed his gaze at Meng Ke, the depth in his eyes replaced with calmness, a faint smile at the corners of his mouth, “Yes, quite recently.”

“Why didn’t President Luo bring his girlfriend to G City?”

Once spoken, words can’t be retracted, so Meng Ke could only smile and continue to ask.

Luo Haofeng didn’t seem to mind and answered every question, “She has things to do these couple of days, Mo Xiuchen also asked why I didn’t bring her along.”

Bai Xiaoxiao chewed on her shrimp, gently frowning; the taste of the shrimp was awful.

“Isn’t that shrimp good?”

Luo Haofeng, while chatting with Meng Ke, actually paid attention to Bai Xiaoxiao.

Seeing her frown, he immediately asked with a smile.

Instead, Meng Ke, her boyfriend, was too caught up in the conversation.

Hearing Luo Haofeng’s question, he turned to look at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile, “Maybe my taste buds are off these past two days.”

Otherwise, everything she ate wouldn’t taste like anything.

“If you’re feeling unwell anywhere, you should see a doctor. You’ve just returned to the country, it’s normal not to adjust immediately.”

Although Luo Haofeng’s words were caring, they were entirely normal since Meng Ke was present.

Meng Ke felt a heavy block in his heart, watching Luo Haofeng’s faint smile and mild concern, everything so open and straightforward.

Even feeling jealous or angry seemed ridiculous.

This feeling made him incredibly uncomfortable.

“Xiaoxiao, if you’re not feeling well, why didn’t you tell me? How about I accompany you to the hospital now to get a checkup?”

He spoke, ready to rise and take Bai Xiaoxiao away.

Truly unwilling for Bai Xiaoxiao and Luo Haofeng to keep interacting.

Even though he was still present.

There were many times he felt left out.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head, “I’m fine, no need for a hospital checkup.”

“No, health is most important. If you’re ill, how will you work? Brother Luo, I’m going to accompany Xiaoxiao to the hospital first…”

“There’s really no need.”

Bai Xiaoxiao frowned.

She wasn’t sick.

“Going to the hospital for a checkup isn’t a bad thing. If there’s truly nothing wrong, Brother Meng can be at ease too. Xiaoxiao, go ahead.”

Said Luo Haofeng, pulling out his chair and standing up first.

He, like Meng Ke, no longer wanted to continue this meal.

He feared that the longer he stayed with Xiaoxiao, the harder it would be to restrain his feelings and control his concern for her.

The slight care he showed a moment ago under considerable restraint had already made Meng Ke uncomfortable.

Luo Haofeng didn’t want misunderstandings between Meng Ke and Bai Xiaoxiao, leading to discord in their relationship because of him.

Meng Ke cast a grateful look at Luo Haofeng, grabbed Bai Xiaoxiao’s coat, and supported her arm with one hand, “Xiaoxiao, Brother Luo has spoken up, you don’t have to worry about us leaving like this and making him upset. Brother Luo definitely also believes your health is a priority.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked up at Luo Haofeng.

He stood upright in front of the table.

Looking at her with gentle brows, as she raised her eyes, Luo Haofeng’s lips curved into a faint smile, which lightly spread from the bottom of his eyes, “Go get a checkup at the hospital. This weekend, I’ll bring Ruoyi with me to G City, we’ll join Mo Xiuchen and the others for a trip, we’ll gather again then.”
