Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1680: Chapter 1679: I’ll Stand Up for You

Bai Xiaoxiao lazily leaned back into her chair, her eyes gazing up at the ceiling as she said nonchalantly, “I ran into your ex-girlfriend at lunch today.”

“Cough, cough…”

On the other end of the phone, Xiao Yuting was possibly drinking water, and Bai Xiaoxiao’s words made him choke, causing him to cough several times.

After the coughing subsided, his complaining voice came through, “Xiaoxiao, you shouldn’t say things like that. I haven’t had a girlfriend for many years. Where did you meet my ex-girlfriend?”

“Really, I ran into her at lunch today.”

Bai Xiaoxiao also laughed because of Xiao Yuting’s complaining tone.

“Which one?”

“I don’t know her name, just that she is Xu Wanqi’s cousin.”

After Bai Xiaoxiao finished speaking, she heard Xiao Yuting on the phone say, “Oh, it’s her. Is she with Xu Wanqi?”

“Yeah.”

“It seems Xu Wanqi asked her to deal with you. What’s going on with Meng Ke, letting irrelevant women bully you?”

Xiao Yuting’s words expressed indignation on behalf of Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao, however, smiled nonchalantly, “It’s not really bullying. It’s just that Xu Wanqi mentioned my past foolishness in front of Meng Ke.”

“Xiaoxiao, if Meng Ke doesn’t stand up for you, I will. Leave this to me.”

“I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just that you talked about Xu Wanqi the other day, and I happened to see them today, so I mentioned it to you.”

After Meng Ke dropped Bai Xiaoxiao back at her company, he didn’t head back to the travel agency directly but drove to T University.

At the school gate, he happened to run into Jing Xiaocha and Lu Lu returning from outside.

Seeing him get out of the car, Jing Xiaocha was surprised for a moment and went over to greet him, “Mr. Meng.”

“Xiaocha, it’s great to see you. Can you help me get Yao Yao? I called her, but she didn’t answer.”

“Sure, she’s in the club. I’ll go get her.”

Jing Xiaocha responded with a smile, knowing that Li Shi Yao and Lu Lu had been in a bad mood lately and had just been complaining to her.

“Thank you, Xiaocha.”

Although Meng Ke wasn’t very familiar with Jing Xiaocha, Bai Xiaoxiao was.

So he followed Bai Xiaoxiao in calling her Xiaocha.

Jing Xiaocha said there was no need for thanks and went into the school with Lu Lu.

As they walked to the chapel building, they happened to run into Li Shi Yao and Jin Zheyu coming down the stairs together, with Li Shi Yao looking up adoringly at Jin Zheyu.

“Xiaocha.”

Jin Zheyu was the first to see Jing Xiaocha, his voice carrying a hint of delight.

Only then did Li Shi Yao tear her gaze away from him to look at Jing Xiaocha and Lu Lu.

“You go ahead and get ready.” Jin Zheyu turned to Li Shi Yao and said, then looked at Jing Xiaocha again, a hint of a smile in his eyes, “Xiaocha, I have something to tell you.”

Li Shi Yao looked at Jing Xiaocha, unwillingly nodded, “Senior, I’ll go first then.”

“Shi Yao, your cousin is outside looking for you.”

Seeing Li Shi Yao about to leave, Jing Xiaocha quickly told her that Meng Ke was looking for her.

Upon hearing this, Li Shi Yao’s eyes flickered, “I know.”

She instinctively glanced in the direction of the school gate, pursed her lips, and then turned to leave.

Upon arriving at the school gate, Meng Ke was already back in the car.

She approached Meng Ke’s car, and Meng Ke rolled down the window, speaking calmly, “Get in.”

Li Shi Yao hesitated for a moment before getting into the passenger seat.

“Cousin, why are you looking for me?”

Once in the car, Li Shi Yao asked curiously.

Meng Ke didn’t turn his head, his eyes looking at her through the lens.

The atmosphere in the car was so quiet that Li Shi Yao couldn’t help but feel a bit tense, her hands subconsciously clutching the hem of her clothes as she blinked at Meng Ke’s eyes, “Cousin?”

“What did Xu Wanqi offer you?”

Meng Ke’s direct question made Li Shi Yao’s face go pale.

She opened her eyes wide in shock, “Cousin, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

Meng Ke suddenly turned his head, his scrutinizing gaze sternly fixed on Li Shi Yao, “Only you knew I was going to the restaurant with Xiaoxiao this noon.”

“Cousin, did Xu Wanqi also go?”

Meng Ke’s lips curled into a cold smile, the sternness in his eyes deepening, “Are you not going to admit it?”

“I…”

Li Shi Yao had always been afraid of her cousin.

He seldom got angry, but once he did, she would be very scared.

After hesitating, she stammered, “Cousin, I didn’t get any benefits from her, I was tricked by her into revealing that you invited Sister Xiaoxiao to lunch today.”

“Really?”

Meng Ke squinted his eyes, asking in disbelief.

Li Shi Yao hurriedly nodded, raising her hand, “It’s true, cousin. If you don’t believe me, I can swear. I hate Xu Wanqi; how could I want anything from her.”

“Since you hate her, you shouldn’t have told her where Xiaoxiao and I were having lunch.”

Meng Ke stared at Li Shi Yao for a few seconds, confirming she wasn’t lying. The sternness in his eyes slightly eased, but his tone remained gloomy.

“Cousin, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”

Li Shi Yao lowered her head and said softly, “Xu Wanqi called and said Sister Xiaoxiao wasn’t a good woman, told me to warn you not to be deceived. I was so angry at the time, I just wanted to annoy her…”

“Never mind, go back to your class.”

Meng Ke glanced out the window, his tone calming down.

Yet, Li Shi Yao blinked uneasily, “Cousin, did Xu Wanqi disturb your date with Sister Xiaoxiao? She’s such a schemer, why do you still keep her at the travel agency? You should just kick her out.”

“You also think I should kick her out?”

Meng Ke contemplated, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.

“Yes, cousin, Xu Wanqi doesn’t respect Sister Xiaoxiao and is always trying to come between you two. Keeping her at the travel agency will inevitably cause misunderstandings between you and Sister Xiaoxiao sooner or later.”

Li Shi Yao’s words made Meng Ke feel a slight heaviness in his heart.

“But Xiaoxiao doesn’t agree with me firing Xu Wanqi.”

Meng Ke was conflicted.

He had thought about firing Xu Wanqi himself, but later agreed to let her stay.

However, Xu Wanqi’s troublemaking with Xiaoxiao at lunch today had angered Meng Ke.

“Cousin, why does Xiaoxiao disagree?”

“She said if I fired Xu Wanqi, she would definitely think it was because of her and would harbor resentment.”

“That’s possible too.”

Li Shi Yao frowned, troubled, “But keeping Xu Wanqi, Sister Xiaoxiao will get upset sooner or later. Even if Sister Xiaoxiao is generous and doesn’t mind once or twice, three or four times, she won’t… ”

She didn’t finish the sentence but shrugged.

Meng Ke sighed softly, “I’ll think about it, you go back to class first, if you want to come to tonight’s dinner, you can.”

“Cousin, Aunt has already called me, I’ll definitely come. You shouldn’t hesitate, just hurry and marry Sister Xiaoxiao, that’s the main thing. As for Xu Wanqi and Zhao Wanqi, don’t feel guilty.”

Finished speaking, Li Shi Yao waved at Meng Ke, then opened the car door and got out.
