Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1662: Chapter 1661: Are You Really Not Angry?

It was unclear whether Meng Ke was stunned by Bai Xiaoxiao’s smile.

Or by her words.

“Xiaoxiao, do you really mean that you’re not angry?”

After a while, Meng Ke came to his senses and asked cautiously.

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, her delicate features lit up with a radiant smile. “Am I such a petty person? As I said, her liking you proves your excellence. I should be happy that my boyfriend is excellent, so why should I be angry?”

“Xiaoxiao, I thought you were angry just now. I didn’t expect you to say this.”

Meng Ke couldn’t help but be moved. Earlier at the airport, not only did Xu Wanqi embarrass Bai Xiaoxiao, but she also deliberately called him ‘Senior’ to imply that their relationship was more than just supervisory.

“What would you like me to do, cause a scene, demand you fire Xu Wanqi immediately and forbid you from speaking to her, or even ban you from talking to any other women?”

Bai Xiaoxiao joked, her hands controlling the steering wheel, her gaze straight ahead without looking at him.

Earlier, she was a bit upset.

Although she didn’t seem to have that kind of feeling for Meng Ke yet, they were a couple. Being provoked by another woman who liked him couldn’t have left her in a good mood.

“Xiaoxiao, if you really asked me to do that, I would definitely comply.”

Meng Ke promised without hesitation, as if he wouldn’t refuse anything Bai Xiaoxiao asked of him.

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled lightly, “If it really came to that, would there be any point in us being together?”

If she really made such demands on Meng Ke, it would only indicate one thing.

This man couldn’t earn her trust in the slightest, and outside, he must be flirting around.

Meng Ke’s face changed slightly because of Bai Xiaoxiao’s latter half of the sentence.

He instinctively reached out to hold Bai Xiaoxiao’s arm, but retracted his hand rationally just before touching her.

“Are things over there settled, the injured passengers…”

Bai Xiaoxiao raised her hand to brush her bangs, turning to look at Meng Ke.

Meng Ke answered gently, “Everything is settled. On the third day I went there, I arranged for the injured passengers to be sent back to the country. Currently, they are in hospitals in their respective cities.”

At this point, Meng Ke paused in his speech, “I’m back today, and I can only stay at home for one night. I have to go on a business trip again tomorrow.”

“Oh.”

“Xiaoxiao, once this matter is handled, I will make time to spend with you properly.”

“Work is important. We have plenty of time in the future.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled at him reassuringly. She wasn’t the clingy type of woman who wished her boyfriend to be by her side 24/7.

Even when she was dating Luo Haofeng before, she didn’t cling to him all the time.

Not sure what she thought of, an emotion flashed across her eyes, and she lightly pressed her lips together, “What do you want to eat, Chinese or Western? I’m treating for lunch today.”

“Chinese food then.”

**

Considering that his last gift was rejected, this time, the gift Meng Ke brought Bai Xiaoxiao wasn’t some expensive jewelry but a scarf.

“Xiaoxiao, you can’t refuse to accept this gift. Cold air is coming in a few days, and it will get chilly. This scarf will definitely come in handy.”

Autumn in G City is very short.

As the season was about to turn to winter, Bai Xiaoxiao really couldn’t refuse the scarf that Meng Ke gave her.

“Then at least let me say thank you.”

Bai Xiaoxiao put the scarf back in its box and let Meng Ke place it on the back seat, “I’ll take you home now, you must be tired after sitting on the plane for so long.”

“Xiaoxiao, there’s also this, a gift for Auntie.”

Meng Ke placed another gift box on the back seat as well.

“Alright, take me home. I do need a good sleep.” Without showing Bai Xiaoxiao what gift he had prepared for her mother, nor giving her a chance to refuse.

Seeing the faint fatigue on his brow, Bai Xiaoxiao nodded gently, pulled over her seat belt, buckled up, and started the car to hit the road.

**

The car arrived at the Meng family residence, and Meng Ke asked if Bai Xiaoxiao wanted to come in.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head, “No, if I go in, you won’t be able to get to sleep. Go home quickly and get some rest, I’m going home to take a nap myself.”

Bai Xiaoxiao said, covering her mouth with her hand and yawning.

Meng Ke smiled gently, agreed with ‘Okay’, and as Bai Xiaoxiao thought he was about to get out of the car.

He suddenly leaned over, his big hand pulling Bai Xiaoxiao close, and planted a kiss on her forehead.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s body stiffened slightly.

Meng Ke didn’t make any further moves.

After kissing her forehead, he released her.

“Xiaoxiao, drive slowly on your way back, I’ll call you tonight.”

After speaking, he got out of the car.

Bai Xiaoxiao came back to her senses from his invasive male scent, and Meng Ke had already gotten out.

After closing the car door, he waved to her through the window.

Bai Xiaoxiao lowered the car window, and Meng Ke’s voice came through, “Xiaoxiao, drive safely.”

“Mm.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s face was a little red.

Even though Meng Ke only kissed her forehead, it was still physical intimacy.

Perhaps it had been too long since she had such closeness with a man, she couldn’t adapt for a moment.

Meng Ke didn’t miss the slight blush on Bai Xiaoxiao’s cheeks, a glint flashing in his deep eyes as he watched her car drive away. Only then did he turn around with his luggage and enter the house.

Upon entering the living room, he immediately heard Li Shi Yao and Madam Meng chatting.

“Auntie, don’t you think that Xu Wanqi is going too far?”

Li Shi Yao looked at Madam Meng angrily, expecting her to agree that Xu Wanqi was overstepping.

“Yao Yao, I think Xu Wanqi’s actions are quite normal. Her feelings for Meng Ke aren’t just from one or two days. Surely it’s because Xiaoxiao hasn’t married Meng Ke yet that Xu Wanqi has grievances against her.”

Madam Meng didn’t particularly like Xu Wanqi.

Because Xu Wanqi had a poor background and wasn’t a good match for her son Meng Ke.

However, Xu Wanqi provoking Bai Xiaoxiao might not necessarily be a bad thing.

After all, the older you get, the wiser you become.

Hearing these words, Meng Ke at the door instinctively frowned and walked over with big strides, “Mom, don’t talk about such chaotic things in front of Xiaoxiao.”

“Cousin, you’re finally back!”

Li Shi Yao jumped up from the sofa and took Meng Ke’s luggage, “Cousin, where’s my gift?”

Meng Ke chuckled, “In the little bag beside you, help yourself.”

After that, he walked to the sofa, sat down, and poured himself a glass of water.

“I heard from Yao Yao that you had dinner with Xiaoxiao. Did she drop you off? Why didn’t she come in?”

“She didn’t want to disturb my rest, so she went home.”

Speaking of Bai Xiaoxiao, Meng Ke’s brows immediately relaxed, and he couldn’t hide the good mood on his face.

Madam Meng, seeing him like that, asked curiously, “Yao Yao said that Xu Wanqi did something excessive. Wasn’t Xiaoxiao angry with you?”

“Xiaoxiao isn’t the type of girl to be petty. She said that someone liking me proves that I’m excellent.”
