Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1664: Chapter 1663: Coming to Provoke

The next morning, Bai Xiaoxiao received a call from Meng Ke, saying that he was going to H City and might return tomorrow or the day after.

Throughout the entire morning, Bai Xiaoxiao was very busy.

At eleven o’clock, she finally took a breather as her father had just returned from a meeting in the city.

“Xiaoxiao, have lunch with me at noon!”

Mr. Bai was afraid that his daughter might have made lunch plans with someone else, so he went straight to Bai Xiaoxiao’s office as soon as he returned to the company.

Bai Xiaoxiao cheerfully responded with an affirmative, came out from behind her desk, and went over to the sofa to massage Mr. Bai’s shoulders.

“Dad, was the meeting smooth today?”

Mr. Bai looked up at Bai Xiaoxiao, his face showing a satisfied smile, “It went smoothly. By the way, Xiaoxiao, tell Meng Ke in the next two days that our company plans to organize a trip for all the employees this month. Ask him to recommend a good seven-day tour.”

“Dad, Meng Ke is on a business trip.”

Mr. Bai looked at Bai Xiaoxiao in surprise, “Didn’t he just come back yesterday?”

“He went on another business trip this morning.”

Bai Xiaoxiao explained innocently.

Mr. Bai frowned slightly, “He just got back yesterday and left for another trip today. How are you two supposed to spend time together and get to know each other this way?”

“Dad, Meng Ke isn’t an idle man.”

Mr. Bai chuckled, “I haven’t said anything yet, and you’re already defending him?”

“I’m not defending him, I’m just being reasonable.” Bai Xiaoxiao said playfully.

“Are you suggesting that I’m being unreasonable?”

Mr. Bai raised his thick eyebrows, pretending to look displeased at his daughter.

Bai Xiaoxiao paused her shoulder massaging and was about to say something when there was a knock on the door.

“Come in.”

As Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice fell, the office door was pushed open, and the assistant’s voice came from the doorway, “Manager, a Miss Xu Wanqi is here to see you, do you want to see her?”

“Xu Wanqi?”

Bai Xiaoxiao frowned in confusion.

She couldn’t immediately recall who Xu Wanqi was.

Seeing her not respond, the assistant waited patiently.

“Xiaoxiao, that Xu Wanqi is a tour guide from Meng Ke’s travel agency.”

Mr. Bai explained with a smile when he saw his daughter looking puzzled.

Bai Xiaoxiao was momentarily stunned.

The scene from the airport yesterday flashed in her mind. She smiled and instructed the assistant, “Take her to the reception room and tell her I’ll be there shortly.”

“Okay, Manager.”

The assistant left the office, closing the door behind her.

Bai Xiaoxiao bent over, leaned against Mr. Bai’s back, and said cheerfully, “Dad, I’ll treat you to seafood.”

Mr. Bai stared at Bai Xiaoxiao for a moment, a smile appearing on his face, “Alright, it’s rare for my daughter to treat me to a meal. Let’s go now.”

A few minutes later, Bai Xiaoxiao and Mr. Bai were seated in a seafood restaurant.

“Xiaoxiao, can you tell me now why you’re keeping Xu Wanqi waiting in the reception room?”

As the seafood was served, Mr. Bai asked casually.

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled and dutifully served Mr. Bai with some seafood, “Dad, do I need a reason?”

“Because you are my daughter.”

Mr. Bai spoke with certainty, pride evident in his brows.

He understood his daughter well; Xiaoxiao was not an unreasonable, spoiled, or arrogant girl.

“Dad, are you complimenting me or yourself?”

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled.

Mr. Bai glared at her, “Tell me, did that Xu Wanqi offend you? You just returned to the country and don’t even know who she is, how could she have offended you?”

Bai Xiaoxiao felt that her dad seemed as if he would avenge her if she explained how Xu Wanqi had upset her.

She couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

“Xiaoxiao, why are you laughing?”

Mr. Bai put on a stern face and looked at Bai Xiaoxiao seriously.

Bai Xiaoxiao quickly suppressed her laughter, “Dad, I just think it’s adorable how you want to stand up for me.”

“Watch your words.”

Bai Xiaoxiao collected herself and calmly said, “Actually, it’s nothing serious. It’s just that yesterday at the airport, Xu Wanqi seemed unhappy with me.”

“Hmph, does she like Meng Ke?” Mr. Bai’s face darkened immediately upon hearing this.

Bai Xiaoxiao was not surprised by her dad’s response.

When she was in D Country, the trips for Bai’s employees were arranged by Meng Ke.

Her father had a deeper impression of Xu Wanqi than she did, indicating that he had interacted with her before.

“Dad, you knew that, too?”

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao’s playful expression, Mr. Bai furrowed his brows again and coldly retorted, “She’s just a woman with some looks, incomparable to my daughter. How dare she look at my daughter displeasedly? Was Meng Ke there at the time?”

Listening to her dad’s words of defense, Bai Xiaoxiao felt a sense of warmth, and a smile naturally appeared on her face.

“Someone has their eye on your boyfriend, and you’re still smiling?”

Bai Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows indifferently, her eyes filled with amusement, and proudly said, “I’m happy because I have such a great dad.”

“Why are you happy when a rival comes to provoke? Tell me first, are you going back to meet her?”

Mr. Bai looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with concern.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head, “No, I’m going to find Ranran at Haochen and have some fun while securing some investments.”

Meanwhile, in Bai’s reception room, Xu Wanqi was still waiting for Bai Xiaoxiao.

After glancing at her wristwatch, Xu Wanqi’s expression turned cold. After waiting for another ten minutes, she finally got impatient and stood up to leave the reception room.

“Is your Manager Bai still busy?”

Xu Wanqi approached the receptionist and asked.

“Our Manager Bai is having lunch with a client. Miss Xu, please wait patiently. You can meet her as soon as Manager Bai returns.”

Though she guessed that Bai Xiaoxiao must be having lunch and letting her wait on purpose, hearing it confirmed made Xu Wanqi feel a surge of anger.

Clutching her bag strap tightly, she asked coldly, “When will your Manager Bai return?”

The receptionist shook her head, “I don’t know.”

“Can you tell me your manager’s phone number?” Xu Wanqi took a deep breath, struggling to control her emotions.

“I’m sorry, I can’t divulge that information,”

Gaining nothing, Xu Wanqi hesitated for a moment, then turned back to wait in the reception room.

She couldn’t believe Bai Xiaoxiao could avoid her all afternoon.

Her interpretation of avoidance was solely her own.

Bai Xiaoxiao was simply feeling annoyed and didn’t want to see her, intending to toy with her a bit.

After lunch, Bai Xiaoxiao went to Haochen. Naturally, she’d rather meet a liked friend than face someone she disliked.

Coincidentally, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran had just returned to the company after lunch.

Since Wen Ran shared an office with Mo Xiuchen, Mo Xiuchen left to go to Qin Mu’s office, allowing them to chat.

Bai Xiaoxiao first toured Wen Ran’s office and said enviously, “Ranran, you are truly the happiest woman in the world. I am so envious of you.”

Wen Ran, sitting on the leather sofa, looked at her with a smile, “Are you envious that I have a husband, or that I work in the same office as my husband?”
