Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1687: Chapter 1687: Little Dengdeng Goes Missing

Jiang Yichun’s fingers were constantly tapping and pressing on the waiter’s face, and after a while, he finally peeled off a thin human skin mask, revealing a slightly pale, delicate face.

Jiang Yichun seemed unable to recognize the woman in front of him, but Bai Ruozhu remembered scenes from the past.

”It’s the daughter of the Ghost Doctor, Nianrong. Don’t you remember?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Only then did Jiang Yichun recall. He had once, under the imperial decree, taken Jiao Bingqin to find treasure, but was unexpectedly ambushed on the way. He grabbed Jiao Bingqin and jumped off a cliff, severely injured, and was saved by the Ghost Doctor and his daughter. It should have been a good deed, and he should have been grateful, but Nianrong took a liking to him. The Ghost Doctor even used drugs to control him, wanting him to marry Nianrong without resistance.

Ultimately, Bai Ruozhu and Lu rescued him. The Ghost Doctor also met a violent end, though his daughter Nianrong disappeared without a trace.

At the time, given the Ghost Doctor and his daughter had saved Jiang Yichun, no one suggested pursuing Nianrong to the bitter end; they even deliberately ignored her.

Unexpectedly, after so long a time without appearing, she reappeared to assassinate Bai Ruozhu.

Jiang Yichun was now filled with resentment, regretting that he had been too soft-hearted then, causing his woman to almost lose her life here.

If Bai Ruozhu hadn’t known magic technique, or if her body had been too weak during pregnancy to use it, then lying on the ground now wouldn’t only be Nianrong!

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Jiang Yichun, ”How to handle this person, that’s up to you.”

The shopkeeper being held nearby cried out, ”Sir, please investigate thoroughly. I really don’t know this person. I wondered why Xiaozhou would suddenly kill someone, now it turns out she’s not Xiaozhou.”

At this moment, footsteps came from the back hall, as Muyu dragged in a waiter, identical to the waiter whose human skin mask had not been removed earlier.

”Master, we’ve found the waiter. He was knocked out and hidden in a room. I’ve just woken him up,” Muyu said, pushing the waiter forward. The waiter hugged his arms, shivering incessantly, his lips blue from the cold.

Bai Ruozhu looked over; the waiter’s head and face were wet, and his collar was damp in a large area. She guessed how Muyu had woken him.

Muyu was indeed ruthless, throwing cold water on someone in the dead of winter, no doubt it was hard for this waiter.

Without waiting for Jiang Yichun to speak, the waiter knelt to the ground with a thud, crying desperately.

”Please spare me, officer. I truly know nothing. A guest called me to his room to deliver water. I did and he kept asking questions, then suddenly knocked me out. And, and then this gentleman woke me with water. I really don’t know anything.”

Xiaozhou was truly unfortunate, out of all times in the year, whom did he provoke?

The shopkeeper also pleaded, saying, ”Officer, please investigate thoroughly. We truly don’t know this woman. I remember among the guests there wasn’t anyone like her, perhaps she came in with a fake face. We’re an old, reputable establishment, absolutely wouldn’t be involved in harming lives.”

Jiang Yichun and Bai Ruozhu exchanged a glance, then he waved his hand, ordering Chenfeng to release the shopkeeper first.

Before staying at the inn, they had investigated it; the inn had a good reputation and no bad record, so they thought the innkeepers really didn’t know Nianrong.

Bai Ruozhu summoned Xiaomao to wake Nianrong up, and when she opened her eyes to realize her situation, her face turned pale with rage.

”You may kill or chop me up however you wish. But as long as I’m alive, I will certainly kill that vile woman!” She glared at Bai Ruozhu as she spoke.

Bai Ruozhu sneered coldly, ”Saying it like that, there’s truly no way we can let you go.”

”Hmph, even as a ghost I won’t spare you!” Nianrong said through gritted teeth.

Bai Ruozhu found it amusing, going over to pinch her dislocated jaw, asking, ”Why do you hate me so much? You knew someone had a wife and children, yet you forced him to marry you. Isn’t it because of your own doing that you ended up like this?”

”What wrong did I do? Is it wrong to like someone? How would a vile woman like you, who uses a child to tie a man down, understand?” Nianrong screamed in agony.

”Rubbish! My wife and I love each other sincerely. Whether or not there are children, I will only want her as my woman,” Jiang Yichun angrily said.

Nianrong burst into laughter suddenly, ”Is that so? So, you’re saying you don’t care if you have that little boy or not.”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun’s faces changed drastically, and they rushed outside together. Just earlier in a panic, Jiang Yichun had rushed in first and hadn’t had time to take care of Little Dengdeng, who was setting off firecrackers outside.

All the guards were focused on the near-assassination of Bai Ruozhu, and thus overlooked Little Dengdeng who was initially beside Jiang Yichun.

Sure enough, Little Dengdeng was gone. Bai Ruozhu immediately sent people to search everywhere, then rushed to Nianrong, grabbed her jaw, picked up the dagger that had fallen to the ground, and slowly cut a deep, long wound on her face.

”Tell me, where’s my son?” Bai Ruozhu asked through gritted teeth.

Nianrong cried out in pain, ”How dare you cut my face! Wait for your son to suffer the same fate. You’d better kill me if you want my son to accompany me in death; only then it won’t be a loss to me!” She seemed to feel no pain, laughing maniacally again.

Jiang Yichun stepped over to her, crushing her hand under his foot, then subtly twisted his foot, creating a cracking sound from Nianrong’s fingers, shattering her five fingers to the point that even Huan Tuo himself couldn’t mend them.

”How dare you treat me like this! Even as a ghost, I won’t spare you!” Nianrong screamed.

Bai Ruozhu quickly tossed a pill into her mouth; since she wouldn’t speak, they could only use medicine to make her talk.

Nianrong thought it was just ordinary poison and said through clenched teeth, ”You can give up. Even if you cut me into a thousand pieces, I won’t utter a word.”

”Good idea. Soon you’ll be tasting what it’s like to be cut into a thousand pieces.” Jiang Yichun said as he drew his sword, slicing off a piece of skin from her arm.

Nianrong cried out in intense pain, her immobile body shaking violently, showing how much it hurt.

But soon her eyes lost focus, as if transformed into a puppet without a soul.

”Where is my son?” Bai Ruozhu urgently asked. When Nianrong had threatened her earlier, she pretended to stay calm on the surface, but her heart was already filled with fear. She was truly afraid Little Dengdeng might suffer.

Nianrong’s voice was dry and monotonous as she said, ”In the inn.”

Bai Ruozhu was shocked, ”Which inn?”

”This one.” Nianrong replied again.

Jiang Yichun waved his hand, ”Surround the inn, conduct a thorough search immediately!”

The shopkeeper nearby hummed anxiously; how did this end up involving his place again? How could there be so much trouble during the New Year, could it be a stroke of bad luck?

”Who are your accomplices?” Bai Ruozhu squinted, suspecting that someone had hidden Little Dengdeng in the inn, leveraging the principle that ’the most dangerous place is the safest,’ but how had they managed to snatch Dengdeng right under their noses?
