Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1674: Chapter 1674: A Good Show

Dou Ning’s eyes widened, ”Bullshit! By the time you come back, we might have starved to death! It’s all because you, this lousy woman, left us behind to enjoy a good life!”

”How could that be? What are you thinking about me?” Madam Dou stretched her neck, unwilling to admit.

”What am I thinking about you? If you were upright, would you hide it from us? Did you discuss it with me, the head of the household?” Dou Ning’s voice got higher and higher with each sentence.

At this moment, the sound of horse carriages approached from afar. Soon, several carriages stopped at the Bai Residence Gate. It was the Bo Family, Xie Family, Jiang Family, and Bai Zhi’s family coming to see off the Bai Family members. However, Dou Ning and Madam Dou were so caught up in their argument that they didn’t pay attention to anyone arriving.

The families got off the carriages and were stunned by the scene. Soon, they understood what was happening from the argument between the Dou couple.

The Bo Marquis’s status was there, so it was inappropriate to say anything. Yu Hongxiu wanted to speak up but was pulled back by Xie Dun, who discreetly pointed at the Jiang Xuexiang’s family standing nearby.

Yu Hongxiu sighed; after all, they were Jiang Family’s relatives. Out of respect for the Jiang Family, they couldn’t scold anything.

Jiang Xuexiang was so angry that his face turned red. He pointed at Dou Ning and said, ”What are you doing here? Don’t block the way. The Bai Family is going on a journey; don’t add to the mess.”

Madam Dou glanced at him disdainfully and said, ”The family is already divided, can you still control us? Besides, the Bai Family agreed to let me take care of Dou Yun, did you manage that?”

Jiang Xuexiang was a scholar, where could he match the quarrels of a shrew like Madam Dou? He could only keep shouting ”nonsense,” but had no means to deal with it.

Yu Chenghua and his wife had come with Jiang Xuexiang and his wife. Yu Chenghua directly stepped forward, glaring at Madam Dou with a murderous look and said, ”Is my father-in-law someone you can provoke? Get lost!”

With such people, reasoning was useless; it was better to resort to force.

Sure enough, Madam Dou took a few steps back in fear, attempting to hide behind Dou Ning, but unfortunately, Dou Ning didn’t give her a kind face either.

At this moment, Bai Ruozhu’s family walked out from the Main Gate. Bai Yihong enthusiastically bowed to the friends who came to see them off, saying words of thanks, while Bai Ruozhu smiled as she watched Madam Dou, wanting to see how the selfish Dou Family would behave.

Madam Dou quickly rushed to Bai Ruozhu as soon as she saw her and said, ”Where’s my Dou Yun? Didn’t we agree? You’re not reneging, are you?”

Dou Ning grabbed her and said to Bai Ruozhu, ”This woman is not in good health; how can she take care of our daughter? I’ll go with you to take care of Dou Yun on the way.”

Bai Ruozhu suppressed a laugh and said, ”Dou Yun is just at the back, she’ll come out soon. With so many people, I’m afraid of scaring her. Discuss among yourselves who is suitable to care for her, but don’t delay our time.”

”How can a man take care of a daughter? Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at when people hear?” Madam Dou was also anxious and started quarreling with Dou Ning directly.

In his urgency, Dou Ning slapped her across the face, ”Are you turning the tables, daring to shout at me, the head of the family? Or are you using caring for our daughter as an excuse, actually wanting to run away with someone?”

The crowd silently backed away, feeling that the Dou Family was truly embarrassing.

”You’re talking nonsense! I’ve been married to you for twenty years, and you say such things about me now? Has your conscience been eaten by dogs, Dou Ning?” Madam Dou cried and grabbed at Dou Ning, and the two soon started fighting and cursing again, making the scene very lively.

Bai Ruozhu quietly said to her mother, ”Giving you a show before leaving, isn’t it lively?”

Lin Ping’er chuckled secretly, ”It’s extremely exciting.”

The three Dou children hurried to pull their parents apart, the youngest, Dou Xingyu, even started crying.

Dou Xingde suddenly rushed in front of the Bai Family members and pointed at Bai Ruozhu, shouting, ”It must be your doing, challenging my parents’ relationship. How can you be so vicious?”

Lin Ping’er wasn’t pleased to hear this and said, ”How can you speak like that, child? Your mother came to our front gate causing a ruckus yesterday, blaming us for not letting Muyu take Dou Yun. Then said she wasn’t assured of Dou Yun and wanted to come along to take care of her. Who knew your mother hid it from your father? It was you causing trouble, and now you’re blaming our girl?”

Bai Ruozhu looked at the onlookers and said, ”There were neighborhood witnesses yesterday, they can all testify. How can this be blamed on me?”

”If you were kind-hearted, you should take our whole family. By only taking my mother, aren’t you deliberately causing conflicts?” Dou Xingde said shamelessly.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh, ”You’re eighteen this year, right? How can you speak so brainlessly? Your sister married into my family’s retinue, and they typically don’t take their wives along while they work. Now you want to bring your entire family, you’ve got quite the nerve, haven’t you?”

”Your Bai Family is so wealthy, why care about a few more people eating? Besides, it’s not like we won’t help with work. Aren’t you hiring people? We didn’t even ask for your wages. What more are you unwilling about? My sister hit her head because of you; if you had any conscience, you should take our whole family so we can care for her,” Dou Xingde said loudly, puffing his chest out. Only toward the end did he notice the onlookers had looks of disdain and some were even pointing at him.

Bai Ruozhu had seen many self-righteous people like Bai Lianhe, thinking not caring for them was being unkind or malicious. It was the first time she’d seen a man with such logic and attitude, she couldn’t help but laugh hard.

”That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard today. I won’t argue with you; I don’t want to lower my IQ. Everyone else is here, and they can make their judgment. Don’t forget, the emperor instructed not to disturb our family. Now, if you want to care for Dou Yun, only one can come, otherwise, don’t mention it!” Bai Ruozhu said.

Yu Hongxiu spat on the side, ”Today I’ve seen it all; I’ve seen shameless people, but never seen someone this shameless yet so seemingly justified.”

Everyone couldn’t help laughing. Dou Xingde’s face turned red with anger and injustice, as if he hadn’t done anything wrong, but instead, people lacked understanding and compassion.

Madam Dou and Dou Ning also stopped their fighting, both with messy hair, faces with scratches, and clothes awry, looking particularly awkward.

”It’s decided according to what we originally said; I’ll take care of Dou Yun, a man can’t take care of her,” Madam Dou quickly said.

Dou Ning angrily kicked Madam Dou to the ground, ”Is the daughter only yours? What if you run away with someone, who will take care of her? I don’t trust you either!”

Madam Dou didn’t know where she got hurt, but she couldn’t get up from the ground, just groaning ”ouch” repeatedly.

Bai Ruozhu quickly said to Dou Xingde, ”Hurry and drag your parents apart. As sons, don’t you understand filial duty? If neither of you are assured of Dou Yun and don’t trust each other, why not take Dou Yun home and look after her properly? Why argue back and forth?”
