Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

But the hotel staff supporting Noah were also heading toward the fire exit staircase; the entire hotel was operated by the country behind Noah, yet not all hotel staff were loyal to that country—most of them served as waitstaff.

Because waitstaff could easily monitor anywhere in the hotel and gather intelligence without raising suspicions.

The waitstaff supporting Noah clashed directly with Cyril’s men in the hotel corridors, bullets whizzing past like rain, hitting the wallpapered walls, ceilings, and floors, creating uneven pockmarks.

Cyril was surprised to find supporters on Noah’s side. His investigations had not revealed many Caucasians; why were there still Caucasians he wanted to capture alive in the hotel?

Cyril, who had made a name for himself in Molaban without incurring the local police’s wrath, was not only brutal and cunning but also quite intelligent. The moment a suspicion arose, Cyril immediately recalled the lobby manager who had opened fire earlier. An idea flashed through his mind, but Cyril gradually dismissed it.

He must be overthinking it; the hotel couldn’t possibly belong to a Caucasian.

That could only mean he had not fully investigated and had thought there were only a few Caucasians.

Now that the Caucasians had support, he shouldn’t waste any more time; he should capture the person and leave immediately.

”Push to the fifth floor,” Xia Jinyuan’s cold and resolute voice came over G3’s earpiece. G3 glanced at the number above the fire exit sign and reported a series of digits in English.

Four, they were now on the fourth floor.

As the gunshots grew closer, Ye Jian began to count down silently in her heart, from ten to one.

The success of the plan hinged on this one move.

To force the enemy to reveal themselves rather than killing them outright—this approach, unexpectedly, was shared by both Xia Jinyuan and Cyril’s arrangements. Therefore, Cyril’s men didn’t intend to actually shoot to kill those trapped in the stairwell; they only needed to force them into a state of helplessness.

Both parties had this intention, which, in turn, facilitated the actions of Snow Region Brigade’s comrades.

However, G3 was unaware that Cyril intended to capture them alive; on his end, someone had already been shot dead. While Noah’s side dragged their comrade back, they launched an even more frenzied counterattack.

Cyril’s men suffered heavy casualties. Fortunately, reinforcements could fill in; otherwise, Noah’s ferocious combat team would have indeed spilled blood to carve out an escape path.

The target was getting closer and had already reached the fifth floor—now was the Xueyu unit’s time to act.

”Open fire!” Xia Jinyuan’s deep voice came through the intercom to Ye Jian’s ears, who was hidden in the first hotel room just outside the fire exit on the fifth floor and exhaled very softly.

She was guarding the first room on the fifth floor, while V8 was on the fourth. Noah’s team had no chance to advance beyond the fifth floor, but T6 was on standby on the sixth.

Thus, the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors were all secured by the Snow Region Brigade. As long as Alice Cheng was alone, they had the opportunity to rescue Alice Cheng from Noah’s grasp.

Now it couldn’t really be considered a rescue—Alice Cheng hadn’t needed saving from the start.

It would be more accurate to say they had invited her, inviting Alice Cheng to return with them to the Chinese side.

The gunfire grew more intense, and chaotic footsteps came from above and below, everywhere. All of the hotel rooms’ doors were tightly shut; only the corridors, stairwells, and lobby echoed with the sound of gunfire.

The rooms had good sound insulation; guests on higher floors hadn’t heard any gunfire due to the sudden blackout. They had called the front desk to inquire about the reason, but the phone lines had been severed long ago, and picking up the handset yielded no sound at all.
