Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Xia Jinyuan laughed upon seeing her text message, not even bothering to ask where she was; he was sure she was outside, otherwise, how could she have shaken off her two tails?

”Now you might have irritated them, be careful they might send four more after you.”

He and Ye Jian rarely exchanged text messages. Usually, when Ye Jian sent him a message, by the time he saw it, a considerable amount of time had passed, and it was perfectly normal for it to be several days or even months.

When he texted Ye Jian, he wouldn’t immediately wait for a reply. Generally, it would take about a week to receive her response, as military school discipline was strict, and students were not allowed to have cell phones.

The longest they had ever spent together during their years of courtship was last year when they were both in the same unit, one training male soldiers and the other female soldiers, able to see each other every day.

Although it was only for half a year, they were both very content.

Time with Shi Jian was all too short, and being together was not easy; they cherished every single minute and second.

Ye Jian immediately replied to his text, the corners of her eyes softening into a gentle smile, ”Then that’s perfect, let all their attention turn to me, and you will be safe.”

During the day, the Special Forces from the Snow Region Brigade acted separately to create an opportunity for Xia Jinyuan to meet with the embassy staff, effectively dispersing the attention of the other party.

Xia Jinyuan smiled, taking sips of water while replying, ”After you meet up, send me the address so I can join you to enjoy the Molaban scenery. Despite the chaos in public security, the scenery isn’t bad.”

While he leisurely continued texting, those surveilling him had no way to continue their task.

After sitting for another five minutes, he noticed the waiter serving another steak to the person keeping watch, who clenched his jaw and, expressionless, rose to leave and pay the bill.

He finally understood why the colonels had mentioned that these mercenaries, though they looked like Chinese people, were not actually sent by the Chinese.

China was a poor but cunning nation; how could they possibly dispatch people who appeared very foolish despite having strong combat abilities?

Half an hour later, Xia Jinyuan received a message from the embassy. After paying his bill and waiting a bit at the restaurant entrance, he got into a taxi.

The driver was no stranger; he was an embassy staff member who had greeted them upon their arrival in Molaban, coming from a scout background.

The embassy surely knew whether there was any news of Cyril, any minor actions from the adversaries, or contact with the local police; Xia Jinyuan, eager to set Cyril and Noah against each other, first needed to know Cyril’s movements.

”Cyril is a ruthless and vengeful person, ready to exact a hundredfold revenge for the slightest offense. There was a report a few days ago of disruptions at his underground factory; we guessed it was your doing. The following day, we contacted the local police. Cyril didn’t first suspect another criminal power but the Molaban police,” the scout-turned-embassy staff member explained.

After hearing this, Xia Jinyuan immediately understood why Cyril initially suspected the Molaban police.

This month, the president of Molaban was re-elected and began his speech with, ”I am still alive, and I can continue to stand here and fight against them.” When the president said ”them,” he was referring to criminal powers like Cyril’s.

Indeed, the president was lucky to be alive. Since the elections began in September, over a hundred political figures had been assassinated, including some close members of the president’s team. Senators and House members from both chambers felt their lives were threatened, and bodyguards accompanied them in long convoys whenever they went out.

Even so, their safety wasn’t 100% guaranteed.

”And now? Does Cyril still suspect the police?” Xia Jinyuan asked with a grave tone.
