Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

The auction was conducted indoors this time, unlike the last time which was held outdoors, showing how much Cyril valued this auction.

They infiltrated through a secret door and reached a side door, the same one the bald man had exited last time, a very ordinary wooden door with a regular lock. After confirming there was no issue inside with an infrared scan, Xia Jinyuan inserted a wire into the keyhole and gently jiggled it a few times to unlock it.

The lock was opened, but the door remained still.

Xia Jinyuan gently pushed, but there was no movement; the door had a bolt lock inside, which was troublesome.

”There’s a bolt lock,” Xia Jinyuan signaled quietly, and Ye Jian’s eyebrows immediately furrowed.

Bolt locks are most vulnerable to vertical bolts; they can be unlocked but take extra time.

After confirming there was no heat signature inside and that the wooden door was joined by planks with large gaps between them—large enough to insert a kukri knife—Xia Jinyuan took the knife and inserted it into the gaps at the bottom of the door, slowly moving it upward.

When the knife reached the middle of the door, he encountered an obstacle that must have been the bolt. Xia Jinyuan gently fiddled with the knife. After about 2 minutes without success, they heard footsteps approaching.

This was a hallway with no way to retreat and nowhere to hide; the two of them instantly tensed up, holding their breath, ready to react at any moment.

The footsteps grew closer, and they could even see flickering light.

All of a sudden, Xia Jinyuan uttered in Molaban’s language, ”Who’s there! Stop, don’t move.”

It was commanding and immediately fooled the three people approaching, making them think they had encountered patrolling allies.

Xia Jinyuan promptly turned on his flashlight, set the light to its brightest, gave Ye Jian a meaningful glance, and with a cold expression, Ye Jian stepped forward with her military kukri knife towards the three temporarily fooled and motionless people.

In a few seconds, someone asked them which group they belonged to.

Who knew which group they belonged to? The two quickened their pace, blinding the three standing men with the intense light, and Ye Jian suddenly leaped forward, while Xia Jinyuan turned off the bright light and rushed forward as well.

”Hey...”

The three unprepared men never expected that they were not facing comrades but the God of Death himself.

It’s no wonder they were caught off guard; there was no sign of disturbance outside, so how could there be an issue inside?

With one swift motion, almost simultaneously, the man in the middle was not immediately taken down, but Xia Jinyuan and Ye Jian quickly handled the men on either side.

Without waiting for the others to react, one covered a man’s mouth while another’s kukri knife slit his throat, swiftly handling the three targets within seconds.

After finishing, both exhaled softly, and Xia Jinyuan whispered, ”You stand guard here while I go pry open the door.”

”Okay,” Ye Jian nodded slightly; stationed there, she could react immediately if she spotted trouble, ensuring the safety of her teammate moving behind her.

Xia Jinyuan hastened his steps back to the door with the bolt, searching once again for the bolt’s position. About five minutes later, after some quiet clinking sounds, he wiped the slight sweat from his forehead and retracted the knife from the door gap.

He gently pushed the wooden door, and the previously sealed door finally opened, creaking with slightly rusty friction, and G3 and the others followed the sound.

Opening their light sources, they faced a narrow, long wooden staircase, and the two proceeded one after the other, step by step, cautiously treading up the stairs.

The interior was pitch-black, so dark they couldn’t see their fingers in front of them; they took out the small flashlights they carried, and the faint light illuminated the steps beneath Xia Jinyuan and Ye Jian.
