Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Mr. Will was too excited, although he hid it well, and even his expression had become more serious than before, Xia Jinyuan did not miss the sudden spark in his eyes.

As Xia Jinyuan cut his steak, he bowed his head, carefully cutting small pieces for himself. Only then did Mr. Will realize that the mercenary sitting across from him was actually quite handsome.

”Which country are you from?” Mr. Will couldn’t help asking, ”Why are you so skilled?”

Their profiles did not display their nationalities, only their battlefield experience and what they had done. Mr. Will actually knew very little about mercenaries.

Xia Jinyuan looked up, revealing a bloodthirsty, cruel smile, ”Because I’ve killed many, which is why I am so capable, and why I want to earn more and more money.”

”Is Mr. Will doubting that we won’t be able to rescue Alice Cheng next?”

Not wanting to keep the topic on himself, he knew the best way was to shift it to the other party’s pressing concerns.

Mr. Will immediately shook his head, ”No, no, no, I absolutely am not. I just...”

He raised a hand, his fist resting against his chin as he pondered.

A few minutes later, Mr. Will said in a low tone, ”Thinking about it, it would indeed be worthwhile to investigate the hotel where you are staying, perhaps Cyril has been watching you already, and you just haven’t noticed. I’ll have someone look into this hotel’s situation, see if they can find anything?”

”Good! That’s settled then. We’ll proceed from both ends, and contact each other by phone as soon as there’s any news,” Xia Jinyuan said.

Mr. Will, looking very cautious, scanned behind Xia Jinyuan, his expression slightly darkening as he glanced toward the restaurant entrance, a shadow of gloom passing through his eyes as he returned to cutting his steak, ”Then I should leave now to avoid Cyril seeing that I’m with you.”

Xia Jinyuan nodded, ”OK, we will also contact Mr. Will as soon as we have any information.”

The sound of a dining chair being gently pulled back was heard, Mr. Will’s tall figure striding away, his back exuding a trace of slight anger. Of course, this anger was not directed at Xia Jinyuan, but rather at the Caucasian man who rose after him.

Lifting a glass filled with lemon water, Xia Jinyuan, while drinking, narrowed his eyes slightly, watching silently with a cool, shallow smile as the Caucasian man followed Mr. Will’s departure.

Who had Alice Cheng?

Absolutely in Noah’s hands.

The country behind Noah was currently anxious to lure the Chinese out, hoping they would fall into their trap.

Checking the time, there was still half an hour before the meeting at the embassy. Xia Jinyuan simply ordered another steak for himself; he had been burning a lot of energy lately and needed to replenish his protein and sustain good nutrition.

He wondered if Little Fox, who had stayed at the hotel playing video games, had had lunch yet. She probably had, as he had told her to eat whatever she wanted and if she was bored, she could visit the nearby mall.

Now, their group was part of the assistance team, waiting for the latest news from another team tasked with rescuing the scientist before they could proceed with their actions.

Pulling out his phone, Xia Jinyuan sent a text to Ye Jian.

Ye Jian, just getting into a car, heard the text notification, pulled out her phone to check it, and with a slight smile, she texted back, ”Not bad, shook off two tails.”

Since leaving the hotel, Ye Jian had been walking along the street, attentively observing her surroundings as she did in her past life, ready to flee immediately if necessary; the habit remained till today.
