Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Harper Johnson’s face turned pale, her whole body trembling: ”It’s a fact, she harmed Wenyard Cooper, and then Evelyn. Everyone around her gets hurt because of her.”

”Is it that you all are too stubborn, or have my warnings not been frightening enough for you to keep testing my limits?” Joshua Hughes approached slowly like a ghost, his voice wafting through the hospital room like a cold mist, causing Evelyn Yates to break out in a fine sweat.

”Truly damnable........” Joshua’s eyes turned red, brimming with a bloodthirsty menace, the cold aura turning the entire room into a massive ice cellar devoid of the slightest warmth.

”Bam!” A fierce slap swept through, accompanied by a scream reverberating in the room. Harper Johnson collapsed onto the carpet, her face searing with pain.

Joshua Hughes indeed dared to strike, he really did it.

Before she could fully react, Joshua’s tall and slender figure squatted down slowly in front of her: ”She is my woman, what right do you have to speak about her?” His intimidating gaze made Harper Johnson tremble, unable to even speak.

She watched as a thin silver blade appeared in Joshua’s hand as if by magic, wondering what he intended to do.

”Can you guess what I want to do? This knife was forged by the best artisan, incredibly sharp, and it takes just a second to cut through a person’s throat; it doesn’t even need that. The wound it makes would drain all the blood from your body until... you die. Only a dead man’s tongue would stay silent.” His actions were exceptionally graceful, yet carried a terrifying and dreadful danger.

”You, you... what do you intend to do?” Harper Johnson was so scared she almost burst into tears. She had seen Joshua’s ruthlessness before, but always thought that now, being in-laws with the Hughes Family, Joshua wouldn’t do anything to her over Avery Jane. She believed being slapped was already humiliating enough, never expecting Joshua to actually want her life.

Moreover, Joshua’s expression was not a joke, he truly might kill her.

”Evelyn, quickly call the police, quick....” Harper Johnson trembled in fear, tears streaming as she urged Evelyn Yates to call the police. Joshua was truly a demon capable of anything.

The bodyguard standing behind Joshua expressionlessly pulled out a tiny pistol, the dark muzzle aimed directly at Evelyn Yates’ temple.

”Don’t kill me, don’t kill me, Joshua, I’ll tell you all my secrets. Without me telling, you’ll never find out, as there were no records at that time.” The sharp little knife was so close to her neck, she could feel the lethally sharp and cold aura, the breath of death.

Joshua coldly looked at her: ”Are you in any position to negotiate with me? Speak, and if what you say is worth your life, I’ll let you go today.”

No records at all, what matter could make Grace Roe concede, and how did Evelyn Yates get included among those twenty people? And what about that blind demon, what was going on? He was indeed a little curious.

Moreover, he really had no intention of taking Harper Johnson’s life; he just wanted to cut off her tongue so she would no longer speak. Her actions warranted her death ten times over, yet despite his disagreements with Luis Hughes, a new life had just been born, and he didn’t want bloodshed at this time. He was so eagerly hoping for Avery Jane to have a baby soon, so the thought of a child softened his heart inexplicably; he no longer wanted to kill, but he had to issue a strong enough warning this time.

”Just over a year ago, when you had an accident and went blind, you were immediately rushed to the hospital.” Harper Johnson looked at Joshua, who sat on the chair, still playing with the sharp silver knife.

She continued shakily: ”That day, Lucas Yates and Avery Jane got into a car accident. Lucas shielded Avery, getting hit in the chest by the oncoming car, sustaining severe brain injuries.” Harper covered her face, watching Joshua’s expression change from icy indifference to something entirely inscrutable.

”Continue.” His voice was slightly hoarse, his handsome face as pale as a sheet.....

Joshua seemed to understand that the following words would be truly terrifying, yet he couldn’t stop Harper from speaking; no matter how dreadful, he had to know, because this matter was surely related to Avery Jane’s past.

Listening to the woman’s voice quivering in the cold air, speaking haltingly, Joshua’s complexion turned increasingly pale, tense....

”It was the second day after their wedding. The old man was going abroad for an event, Caleb Cooper was feeling uneasy for some reason and went with him to the airport in the morning. As soon as they boarded the plane, Lucas Yates had the accident. His mother fainted upon hearing the news, and Avery Jane was also taken to the emergency room. At that time, I was the only one there......” Harper recounts the thrilling past, sneaking glances at Joshua.

The handsome man sat there like a cold, hard marble sculpture, unmoving, his face completely pallid.

The second day after Avery Jane’s wedding, that was the day he was attacked, a corner of Joshua’s mind slowly began to throb, then the pain spread to all his cells. Was it really related to Avery Jane?
