Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

She slept facing away, leaving a large space for him, yet he still clung tightly to her.

She had a husband before, and that man was not Joshua Hughes. Nora Thompson’s words buzzed in her mind, but today she really did not want to think about it.

Suddenly, she burst into tears; this time, she was truly rejecting him.

Upon arriving in Sydney, Alexander King intuitively sensed something amiss.

Because he saw Joshua Hughes’ two bodyguards carrying all kinds of food into the elevator. Joshua Hughes was in Sydney and staying at this hotel?

But when he checked at the front desk, he found out Nora Thompson hadn’t checked in at all. The room was booked correctly, but she hadn’t stayed there.

He originally wanted to give her a surprise, but now he was a bit surprised himself. Someone who shouldn’t be here was, and the one who should be here was nowhere to be seen. Picking up the phone, he dialed Nora Thompson’s cell; Isaac Thompson was such a wealthy man, his daughter’s cell always had international roaming enabled, he knew that without needing to ask.

The call went through as expected.

Nora Thompson had changed hotels because staying in the same hotel and running into Joshua Hughes and Avery Jane would definitely prove troublesome. Even if Avery Jane said nothing, someone as shrewd as Joshua Hughes would notice something.

But she kept wondering if she should say anything. Heaven had given Avery Jane a chance to forget the past and its hurts, but now she was trying to bring those pains back into the open.

Yet, if she didn’t tell her, how could she bear to see her friend living in lies? Moreover, Joshua Hughes had more than just Avery Jane. When Evelyn Yates gave birth, would he marry her? Although Evelyn Yates had been sent away from Hughes Manor by Joshua Hughes, it was an undeniable fact that she was pregnant. Nora Thompson shook her head, wondering how she got herself entangled in such trivial matters.

The milk tea in the tea restaurant was too sweet, and the pineapple bun with butter was a bit greasy, though the noodles were alright. She ate a small portion, continuing to wander alone in this city. Her phone rang softly; she pulled the phone out of her bag, glanced at the caller ID, and frowned slightly. It was him....

”Charlotte, where are you?” Alexander King’s voice was gentle and pleasant.

”Sydney.” The man holding the phone furrowed his brows. Couldn’t she say a few more words? Her coolness was truly annoying, but he wanted to be annoyed. What could he do?

”Where in Sydney? Charlotte, why aren’t you staying at the hotel? Should I tell my father-in-law that your whereabouts are unstable?” Alexander King, seated in the hotel lobby, attracted many women’s gazes. Simply put, he had an air of allure. The long royal blue trench coat made his figure even more slender.

”Nonsense.” Just as Nora Thompson was about to hang up, Alexander King started laughing on the other end: ”You’re the one being silly. Finding a porter is a must for a shopping trip; I’ve already reported in, Charlotte. Where are you now, and I’ll come find you.”

He was in Sydney now, and Nora Thompson’s previously calm heart seemed to stir, only to settle back into calm again.

”I’m waiting for the subway, that’s it.” Nora Thompson hung up the call, not wanting to say more.

She just wanted to wander alone in the bustling streets, refusing to think about those subtle changes in her heart. Yet, this man appeared precisely during her wanderings. Entering the subway platform, heading to the next destination, she didn’t want any interference; today, her mind was more chaotic than ever. She needed calm....

Hanging up again? Was she addicted? Listening to the beeping sound on the other end, Alexander King’s face was a mess in the wind.

Living with a slightly erratic woman means having to become a bit erratic yourself.

Alexander King had someone check Nora Thompson’s hotel records. It was still early, so he could first visit Joshua Hughes. Didn’t that guy just send his bodyguards to buy all kinds of food? Crashing for a meal was better than staying here; he must have booked the presidential suite, which had several rooms where he could rest first.

As night descended, the neon lights decorated Sydney like a radiant and dazzling lady.
