Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Having his secrets laid bare, Brian Yates’s expression darkened unnaturally: ”Who I love is my own choice.”

His secrets were so deeply buried, yet they couldn’t escape the eyes of Joshua Hughes. Truly, this man’s eyes were sharp.

While they spoke, Evelyn’s stomach began to cramp slowly, as if something had scratched across her skin with a fingernail. Her entire body tensed, but she exhaled with relief. Isn’t this a hospital? If something happens, at least there are enough doctors here. Joshua Hughes couldn’t possibly let anything happen to the Hughes family’s flesh and blood, right?

”Of course, I can’t control who you love. But Avery Jane called you, have you thought about what to say to her? Are you going to tell her about her past?” Joshua Hughes was nearly snarling through gritted teeth, his gaze cold as ice.

”Joshua Hughes, what exactly do you want? Just say it directly.” Lucas Yates couldn’t stand the feeling of being pinned on the chopping block, with that man holding a sharp, gleaming knife.

It was the sense of his hand being raised, yet the knife refusing to fall.

”The things you did, if Avery Jane wakes up, take a good look. This is Avery Jane’s story, and you can tell it to her.” Joshua Hughes coldly tossed over a piece of paper, filled with writing, which landed in front of Brian Yates.

He glanced at it and started to laugh: ”Joshua Hughes, why don’t you tell the story yourself? You truly have a talent for storytelling....”

Brian Yates made up his mind; it was a dead end anyway, so what was there to fear? He was not going to yield.

Just then, Evelyn’s stomach began to throb with pain: ”I-I’m in pain, I’m going to have the baby, quickly get me a doctor....”

The bodyguards standing by the door didn’t even move, as if they hadn’t heard, staring at the air with indifferent eyes, ignoring her pleas....

”Joshua, let me out, I need to find a doctor....” Being her first childbirth, she was terrified, her stomach starting to ache, her limbs growing cold, her breathing rapid, cold sweat beading on her forehead.

Joshua Hughes seemed not to hear her pleas, glancing at her with a devilishly cruel smile at the corner of his lips.

”Quickly, let Evelyn go find a doctor, she’s having a baby, this is no joke, Joshua Hughes, there will be a life at stake, no matter what, this is also a child of the Hughes family.” Brian Yates looked at Joshua Hughes incredulously. How could he be so cold-blooded?

Lighting a cigarette, the wispy white smoke slowly rose, blurring the man’s sharp features, yet his cold and emotionless eyes remained piercingly clear.

”You’re truly a heartless devil.” Brian Yates nearly wanted to rush up and grab Joshua Hughes and give him a good beating, but he had just moved when he was pressed back into his seat, unable to move.

”Heartless? That word applies better to your Yates Family. Your father, for the sake of his career, collaborated with me to stage a mock divorce, forcing Avery Jane into my hands. And your mother, worried that Avery Jane would take Mrs. Hughes’s place, conspired with a Taoist to fabricate a monstrous lie, almost killing her. You stand up for your sister, but who will demand justice for Avery Jane from the Yates Family?” Joshua Hughes’s words were like a thunderbolt, leaving Brian Yates’s mind buzzing. He never knew Avery Jane lived such a hard life; he never knew.

”So, making her forget the past is the best outcome. If she remembers, then neither I nor you will have her. How did your sister’s belly grow? Do you know your father, under Wenyard Cooper’s name, had her help Evelyn conceive my child, drugged her so she would do it. That’s why Evelyn is in this state, none of you can blame anyone but your own greed, pushing Avery Jane into a corner. Is my woman someone you can bully?” Joshua Hughes’s thin lips moved slightly, each word he spoke felt like an ice shard, the air in the vast conference room was chilled by his cold aura, as though the entire space was filled with invisible blocks of ice, so cold it was suffocating.

”It hurts so much... quick... it hurts so much...” Perhaps out of nervousness, Evelyn began to cry. As a pampered young miss, she couldn’t endure even the slightest pain. She clutched her stomach, looking at Harper Johnson who had been tossed onto the floor. Drugged while on the plane, Harper hadn’t woken up yet. She didn’t know what to do.
