Medical and Martial God

Seeing this, the young woman, young man, and the middle-aged couple also hurriedly knelt down. They hadn’t seen the Identity Token, but the uncle’s reaction was enough to prove that this person was indeed Ye Xiu.

The doctors’ originally grave expressions turned to excitement. Divine Doctor Ye! The legendary Xuanse Medicine King actually came to our hospital, and he’s just a stone’s throw away. What an incredible honor!

The lead doctor, Wang Qingyuan, stepped forward to greet Ye Xiu. Overjoyed and nervous, his words were a jumbled mess. ”Hello, Divine Doctor Ye. I am the director of this hospital... Um, it is a great honor...”

Ye Xiu helped the uncle up and interrupted Director Wang. ”Director Wang, may I go in and take a look at the child’s condition?”

”Of course, of course, of course! Please, go right ahead.”

Director Wang wasn’t the least bit angry that Ye Xiu had cut him off. Instead, he felt a deep admiration for him putting the patient first.

Ye Xiu nodded and entered the emergency room alone.

At this moment, the young woman excitedly asked her father, ”Dad, um, how do you know Divine Doctor Ye?”

The young man, the middle-aged couple, and the doctors all looked at the uncle curiously.

”How would I know he was Divine Doctor Ye?” the uncle said awkwardly. ”On the plane, he sat in the seat next to me. I asked him to suggest a name for my grandson, and he said to call him Gu Huozai.”

The young woman, the young man, the middle-aged couple, and the doctors were all rendered speechless. They all took a sharp breath.

The legendary Xuanse Medicine King, Divine Doctor Ye, is so... flippant?

”Let’s just call him Gu Huozai,” the young woman said.

”Daughter, are you crazy? That name sounds terrible!” the uncle scolded.

”Dad, although the name doesn’t sound very pleasant, it’s unique. And it was given by Divine Doctor Ye,” the young woman argued.

The young man chimed in, ”With a name bestowed by Divine Doctor Ye, not only will no one laugh at ’Gu Huozai’ for sounding bad, they’ll envy our son for having his name chosen by him!”

”That makes sense,” said the middle-aged man. ”For Divine Doctor Ye to name my grandson... it’s an honor that will last his entire life. It’s an honor for our whole family.”

”Hmph, my grandson’s name was chosen by Divine Doctor Ye. Who would dare look down on him in the future? He’s bound to be even more successful when he grows up,” the middle-aged woman stated.

The uncle suddenly realized the impact Ye Xiu’s chosen name could have on the baby’s entire life. Just imagine, when the baby grows up, goes to school, looks for a job... having a name given by Divine Doctor Ye would make everything go smoothly. After all, who in Xuanse wouldn’t give face to Divine Doctor Ye!

”Alright, my grandson will be called Gu Huozai,” the uncle decided definitively. ”Actually, the more you say it, the better it sounds. It’s also very distinctive.”

Little did Ye Xiu know that the name he had casually suggested was truly being used by the family and would, in fact, impact Gu Huozai’s entire life.

「Half an hour later.」

Ye Xiu came out of the emergency room holding the baby boy.

”Divine Doctor Ye, how is he?” the young woman asked, her voice a mix of nervousness and expectation.

The hearts of the uncle and the others leaped into their throats.

”He’s going to be fine,” Ye Xiu said with a smile, handing the child to the young woman.

Upon hearing the news, the entire family couldn’t help but weep with joy. The young woman hugged her child and sobbed uncontrollably.

Watching this scene, it was as if he were seeing twenty-six years ago, when his mother was driven out by the Ye Family while holding him as a newborn. It was a pity... this family’s scene was so heartwarming, while his mother’s heart must have been so desolate back then.

”Divine Doctor Ye,” the uncle began, wiping away his tears, ”um, about your fee, please name your price...”

The young woman’s family immediately tensed up, and the doctors looked on curiously. For the Xuanse Medicine King to personally save a life, the fee would undoubtedly be substantial.

”It was nothing. No fee is necessary,” Ye Xiu said. He nodded and turned to leave, leaving the astonished uncle, the young woman’s family, and the doctors behind.

The Xuanse Medicine King personally intervened, yet he didn’t ask for a single penny? He didn’t even wait for us to thank him before casually leaving?

The doctors watched Ye Xiu’s retreating figure, their words filled with admiration and reverence.

”That is the true virtue of a physician who helps the world and saves lives.”

”I wish I could be like Divine Doctor Ye, treating the sick and saving lives without asking for payment. But I have a family to support, and I certainly don’t have his skills.”

”Ten years ago, Divine Doctor Ye treated patients for free, yet he was tragically framed and forced to flee overseas for a decade. Now, he has returned, his original resolve unshaken. He’s still that same noble Divine Doctor Ye. Time and the filth of society have not tainted his sacred heart.”

”We should learn from him. Even though our circumstances prevent us from treating patients for free, we can still be diligent and devoted, treating every patient with all our hearts.”

The uncle suddenly came to his senses. He dropped to his knees and shouted toward Ye Xiu’s back, ”Divine Doctor Ye, thank you for saving my grandson!”

The young woman’s family also knelt, loudly expressing their thanks. Even though Ye Xiu couldn’t see them, they had to express the gratitude in their hearts.

Ye Xiu walked out of the hospital. A taxi pulled up, and the driver asked, ”Young Master, where to?”

”Suddenly, I feel like beating someone up,” Ye Xiu said coldly as he got into the car. ”Take me to the Ye Family.”

The heartwarming scene with the uncle’s family had pricked his heart. Tomorrow was the anniversary of the death of his mother and grandparents. And yet, he hadn’t even identified their killers. This made him incredibly irritable. Killing Intent burned in his chest with no outlet for release.

”Very well. The helicopter has been on standby. I’ll take you there,” the driver said.

...

「At the foot of a lush, green hill.」

The Long Family and the Ye Family members were gathered together, eating watermelon. They were joking and laughing, the very picture of laid-back contentment.

Nearby, a group of laborers, dripping with sweat and covered in dirt, were frantically chiseling at the mountain and hauling stones.

One laborer, utterly exhausted, tried to sit on a nearby rock to rest. He had just sat down when a whip lashed out at him.

”What are you sitting around for? Get back to work,” a young man from the Long Family sneered, whip in hand.

With a single lash, a long, bloody mark appeared on the shirtless laborer’s back.

The laborer gritted his teeth in pain and pleaded, ”Please, I’m exhausted. Let me rest for a bit. Just five minutes. I’ll get back to work in five minutes.”

CRACK!

The young man whipped him again. ”Get up and work! You’ll have plenty of time to rest when you’re dead. If you don’t finish this five hundred meters of road within a month, you’re all dead!”

The laborer gnashed his teeth in anger, but he had no choice but to drag his weary body back to work. The other laborers said nothing, not even daring to glance in his direction.

It wasn’t that they hadn’t resisted or tried to flee before. But all their attempts had failed. Those caught rebelling or escaping were savagely beaten upon their return. Two had already been beaten to death.

”Long Lin, go easy on him. If you kill him, who’s going to work for us?” the head of the Long Family called out from a distance while snacking on watermelon.

The youth known as Long Lin responded, ”These lowly laborers are like broken carts. They won’t move unless you beat them.”

After saying so, he raised his hand and struck another laborer beside him with his whip.

”Long Lin, don’t be polite with this trash. If anyone else slacks off, just whip them to death,” Ye Tianming reminded him.

”Understood!” A sinister smile crept onto Long Lin’s face.
