Medical and Martial God

”Hmph, once they find out Ye Xiu is dead, they’ll re-elect me,” Wang Yue muttered resentfully. Then, forcing a smile, he looked around at the crowd and announced loudly, ”I’ve taken a look around. Since everyone has chosen Ye Xiu, there’s no need to count the votes. The selection for the first president of the Global Chamber of Commerce is set in stone—it’s Ye Xiu!”

Upon hearing these words, satisfied smiles appeared on the faces of everyone present. Although Ye Tianming and the Dragon Master were furious, they had no choice but to force smiles that looked uglier than tears.

With a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, Ye Tianming said, ”Mr. Bao, now that Ye Xiu has been elected president of the Global Chamber of Commerce, shouldn’t he make an appearance tonight?”

Wang Yue added, ”He definitely needs to show up. For something as big as being elected president of the Global Chamber of Commerce, it would be too disrespectful to everyone here if Ye Xiu didn’t attend personally.”

The Dragon Master chimed in, ”Then we’ll have to trouble Mr. Bao to give Ye Xiu a call. Have him come over to meet everyone and give an inauguration speech or something.”

The expressions of the three men were unsettling as they sneered inwardly. Ye Xiu is already dead; there’s no way Bao Longtu can summon him. When he fails to appear, we can casually stir up trouble by suggesting that Ye Xiu looks down on everyone, planting a seed of arrogance in all their hearts.

”Everyone, please wait a moment. I’ll call Divine Doctor Ye,” Bao Longtu said as he stood up, took out his phone, and stepped outside to make the call.

At that moment, Ye Xiu was sitting on the living room sofa, studying a large globe on the coffee table and trying to pinpoint the island belonging to the three Judicator Families.

Qin Qing, An Dongye, Chloe, Ye Liuyun, Ye Lin’er, and even those not present—like Gong Jin, Mo Luo, You Ming, and the Ghost Doctor—were all busy researching as well.

Just then, Ye Xiu received a call from Bao Longtu. After listening, he was completely stunned.

”What happened?” Qin Qing asked.

”A pie just fell from the sky while I was sitting at home!” Ye Xiu couldn’t help but laugh. ”I’ve somehow been elected president of the Global Chamber of Commerce. Bao Longtu is calling me over to take up the post.”

Ye Liuyun said with deep respect, ”Brother, you’re incredible! You were elected without even being present. It shows how much everyone trusts your character.”

Ye Lin’er asked with an adoring gaze, ”Brother, you’re so amazing! You’re so young, and not only are you the Xuanse Medicine King, but now you’re also the president of the Global Chamber of Commerce.”

Qin Qing, An Dongye, and Chloe offered no praise; they were already accustomed to Ye Xiu’s excellence.

Qin Qing asked, ”Are you going?”

”I don’t think I have a choice,” Ye Xiu said with a wry smile. He had faked his death with the intention of playing a ghost to scare Ye Tianming to death tonight, but now he had to abandon his ’play the ghost’ plan.

While Bao Longtu was outside calling Ye Xiu, Ye Tianming suggested, ”Let’s have the waiters bring out the food. We can’t starve while waiting for a dead man.”

”Makes sense!” Wang Yue nodded and immediately instructed the waitstaff to serve the dishes. He, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master returned to their seats.

Delicacies were brought to the table one after another, but Bao Longtu, who had stepped out to call Ye Xiu, still hadn’t returned. The smiles on the faces of Wang Yue, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master grew wider.

About twenty minutes later, all the food and wine had been served.

”Everyone...” Wang Yue stood up and announced, ”It will take some time for Ye Xiu to get here, and I’m sure you’re all hungry. Let’s eat.”

No one picked up their chopsticks. To start eating before Ye Xiu arrived would be like asking him to eat leftovers. No one was willing to commit such an offense against him. This put Wang Yue, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master in an awkward position. If only the three of them ate while everyone else waited, they would seem incredibly uncultured and rude.

”A dead man is making us starve,” Wang Yue muttered to his companions with a vicious laugh.

Ye Tianming and the Dragon Master felt the same way but kept quiet. They weren’t the only ones at the table, so it was best not to say too much.

”Mr. Bao is back!” someone announced.

SWISH!

Everyone’s head turned toward the voice.

”Mr. Bao, what took you so long to make a call? Where is Ye Xiu? Is he coming or not?” Wang Yue asked, his smile unsettlingly strange and his words laced with mockery.

”Divine Doctor Ye has arrived!” Bao Longtu announced with a slight smile. ”Please welcome Divine Doctor Ye.”

Just as he finished speaking, Ye Xiu appeared in everyone’s line of sight, a smile on his face.

”This...”

Wang Yue, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master shot up from their seats as if on springs, their faces deathly pale. We’re seeing a ghost!

”Divine Doctor Ye...”

”Mr. Ye...”

Seeing Ye Xiu arrive, everyone stood to welcome him warmly. They greeted him enthusiastically, and those meeting him for the first time introduced themselves and offered their business cards.

Watching Ye Xiu exchange pleasantries with the crowd, Wang Yue, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master realized the man before them was no ghost. Ye Tianming asked in shock, ”Mr. Wang, didn’t the Envoy say Ye Xiu was dead?”

”Yes, the Envoy did say Ye Xiu was dead. How can he still be alive?” Wang Yue was utterly perplexed.

”I’m afraid the Envoy’s luck has run out,” the Dragon Master said gravely.

”What do you mean?” Wang Yue and Ye Tianming snapped their heads toward the Dragon Master.

”If I’m not mistaken,” the Dragon Master explained, his expression turning ugly, ”the person who messaged you saying Ye Xiu was dead wasn’t the Envoy. It was Ye Xiu, using the Envoy’s phone.”

Wang Yue and Ye Tianming’s faces instantly turned white as a sheet.

”Mr. Wang, quick, try calling the Envoy! Quickly...” Ye Tianming said in a panic.

”Oh... oh...” Wang Yue fumbled for his phone. His hands trembled so much that he dropped it on the floor. He hastily picked it up, found the Envoy’s number with his shaking fingers, and dialed. It went straight to voicemail.

Wang Yue’s heart skipped a beat. The Envoy’s phone is off. Could he really have died at Ye Xiu’s hands?

”Mr. Wang...” At that moment, Ye Xiu finished his greetings and walked over to Wang Yue with a smile. He took Wang Yue’s hand and shook it, saying, ”You’ve worked so hard, Mr. Wang. You rushed about inviting so many people to the sponsor team and established the Global Chamber of Commerce, only to end up gifting the presidency to me. Thank you, thank you so much!”

Who the hell wanted to give the presidency to you? Wang Yue’s heart was bleeding. He had truly busied himself scheming and plotting, only to have tailored a wedding gown for Ye Xiu in the end.

”Where is the Envoy? What have you done to him?” Ye Tianming demanded.

Only then did Wang Yue remember the Envoy. He and the Dragon Master stared nervously at Ye Xiu, praying he would say the Envoy was still alive.

”Finish this last meal. Before dawn, I’ll send you to see the Envoy. He can answer your question in person,” Ye Xiu said, patting Ye Tianming’s shoulder with a smile.

*You all?*

Wang Yue, Ye Tianming, and the Dragon Master’s faces changed drastically.

Ye Tianming and the Dragon Master, in particular, were scared out of their wits. Has Ye Xiu finally decided to kill us?

”This...” Wang Yue’s legs went weak with fear, and he nearly collapsed. ”Ye Xiu... Divine Doctor Ye... it’s a misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding...”

He wanted to beg for mercy. At that moment, regret gnawed at his very core for ever making an enemy of Ye Xiu.
