Yandere Stream

Eden turned around and found himself staring into darkness.

For a moment, he saw nothing at all. The room remained dim except for the faint silver glow surrounding the computer behind him. The weak light cast long shadows across the floor and barely illuminated Aria and the little boy standing near the desk. The rest of the room seemed swallowed by darkness so deep it felt less like an absence of light and more like the edge of something unknown.

Then something moved.

A figure stepped forward from the shadows.

Eden immediately tensed. It wasn’t Luna. It wasn’t his father. It wasn’t another version of himself pulled from some forgotten branch of reality. In fact, it wasn’t anyone he recognized. The man appeared completely ordinary. He looked middle-aged and wore simple dark clothes. His hands were empty. His face was unremarkable.

That was exactly what made him terrifying.

After everything Eden had seen, after Authors and Readers and creatures that existed beyond stories, an ordinary man felt more unsettling than any monster ever had.

The stranger stopped several feet away and smiled.

”Who are you?” Eden asked.

The man seemed pleased by the question.

”I was hoping you’d ask.”

Aria stepped forward before Eden could continue. Her eyes remained fixed on the stranger as though she were searching for something hidden beneath his appearance.

”Are you the First Author?” she asked.

The man shook his head.

”No.”

”The First Reader?”

Again, he shook his head.

”No.”

”The thing that created the first story?”

For the first time, the smile faded slightly.

”No.”

Eden narrowed his eyes.

”Then what are you?”

The stranger studied him for several long seconds before finally answering.

”I’m the answer.”

The room fell silent.

Eden almost laughed.

”That’s not a name.”

”No,” the man agreed.

”Then give me one.”

The stranger glanced toward the little boy standing beside the computer.

”He never gave me one.”

Eden followed his gaze and immediately noticed something strange. The child wasn’t afraid. He wasn’t surprised. He wasn’t confused. Instead, he was staring at the man with unmistakable recognition.

Not fear.

Recognition.

Eden’s chest tightened.

”You’ve met him before.”

”Of course.”

”When?”

The stranger’s smile returned.

”Before you remembered yourself.”

The answer only created more questions.

Before Eden could ask another one, the man began walking toward the computer. Each step he took caused another page to appear in the air around him. Fragments of Eden’s life materialized one after another. The first notebook appeared. Then the hospital room. Luna. Aria. Endless hallways. White rooms. Thousands of versions of Eden scattered throughout countless worlds.

The pages floated around the stranger like leaves caught in an invisible current. Yet he never looked at any of them. He walked directly to the computer and rested one hand on the desk.

”You’ve been looking at your life as though it began when you were born,” he said quietly.

Eden didn’t respond.

”It didn’t.”

The stranger looked directly at him.

”Your life began when you asked a question.”

Eden frowned.

”I already know that.”

”No.” The man’s expression softened. ”You know the question. You don’t know why you asked it.”

Something about the way he said it made Eden hesitate.

”I was lonely.”

”That’s part of it.”

”What else?”

The stranger turned toward the little boy.

”Fear.”

The child lowered his eyes.

The stranger continued. ”You were afraid nobody would ever answer.”

A painful memory surfaced immediately. A small room. A child’s drawing. A wooden door sketched in crayon. Darkness beyond it. And a question written beside it.

Is anybody there?

Eden remembered drawing that door. He remembered sitting alone afterward, staring at the picture as though expecting something to happen.

”You answered,” Eden whispered.

The stranger nodded.

”I did.”

”Why?”

The answer came without hesitation.

”Because you asked.”

Eden stared at him.

”That’s it?”

”That’s enough.”

The simplicity of the response frustrated him.

”After everything I’ve been through, you’re telling me all of this happened because a child asked a question?”

The stranger shook his head.

”No. Everything happened because the child refused to accept silence.”

That stopped him.

The man stepped closer.

”You thought your stories were about Luna.”

”They were.”

”You thought they were about Aria.”

”They were.”

”You thought they were about death.”

Eden remained silent.

”You thought they were about finding your way home.”

Still he said nothing.

The stranger stopped directly in front of him.

”They were about being answered.”

The words settled heavily in the room.

Eden felt something shift inside him.

The stranger pointed toward the computer.

”You wrote stories because you wanted people to exist.”

Then he gestured toward the countless floating pages.

”You brought them back because you couldn’t accept silence.”

His gaze met Eden’s.

”And every time you lost someone, you wrote another question.”

Eden swallowed.

”Then what’s the answer?”

The stranger smiled.

”You.”

Eden blinked.

”Me?”

”You kept asking whether anyone was there.” The man spread his arms. ”And every story you created became another answer.”

For the first time, Eden looked at the floating pages differently.

They weren’t prisons. They weren’t failed realities. They weren’t endless attempts to outrun grief.

They were answers.

Every version of Luna. Every version of Aria. Every world. Every life.

All of them existed because someone had asked a question and refused to stop searching.

The stranger stepped closer.

”You wanted proof that you weren’t alone.”

”So I created people.”

”No.” The man shook his head. ”You looked.”

Eden stared.

”And they appeared.”

Silence filled the room again.

This time Aria spoke.

”Then what does that make all of us?”

The stranger looked at her and his expression softened.

”That depends.”

”On what?”

”Whether you believe being created makes something less real.”

Neither Aria nor Eden answered.

The question lingered between them.

Finally, the little boy stepped forward.

”That’s why I stayed.”

Everyone looked at him.

The child approached Eden and stopped in front of him.

”I knew you’d come back.”

Eden crouched until they were eye level.

”Why didn’t you tell me?”

The boy smiled sadly.

”You wouldn’t have believed me.”

”Try me.”

”You spent twenty years believing you were asleep.”

Eden’s expression shifted.

”You knew about the hospital?”

The boy nodded.

”I knew about every version.”

”The hospital was real?”

The child tilted his head.

”Some of it.”

Eden sighed.

Somehow that answer felt exactly right.

The boy pointed toward the stranger.

”He didn’t make the hospital.”

”Then who did?”

Before anyone could answer, the computer screen suddenly illuminated.

Words appeared across the monitor.

THE STORY IS NOT FINISHED.

Another line followed.

THE ANSWER WAS NEVER THE END.

Then a third.

THE ANSWER CREATED ANOTHER QUESTION.

Eden stared at the screen.

The stranger smiled.

”Now you understand.”

”Understand what?”

”You’ve spent your entire existence trying to find the Author.”

Eden frowned.

”And?”

”There isn’t one.”

The room became completely silent.

Aria stared at him.

”Then who wrote all this?”

The stranger looked toward Eden.

”Nobody.”

Eden shook his head.

”That’s impossible.”

”The first story wasn’t written.”

The man gestured toward the floating pages.

”It happened.”

”Stories don’t just happen.”

The stranger’s smile widened slightly.

”You’ve spent your entire life proving otherwise.”

Eden couldn’t argue with that.

The man continued. ”The first world existed because it could. The first Reader noticed it. The first character awakened. Then every question created another possibility.”

He looked at Aria.

”She remembered.”

Then toward the little boy.

”He waited.”

Finally, he looked at Eden.

”And you kept searching.”

Understanding slowly settled over him.

There had never been an ultimate Author hidden above every layer. No supreme creator writing every death. No invisible hand controlling every choice.

The layers existed because possibility became story. Story became memory. Memory became observation. Observation created new possibilities.

It wasn’t a hierarchy.

It was a cycle.

Eden looked at the stranger.

”Then why did you come?”

The man smiled.

”Because you’ve finally reached the point where the cycle can change.”

”How?”

The stranger pointed toward the computer.

”Write.”

Eden looked at the blank document.

”What?”

”Write something that wasn’t already waiting to happen.”

Eden stared.

”You said I’m the first one to remember.”

”Yes.”

”And now you want me to become an Author.”

”No.” The stranger shook his head. ”I want you to become something the story has never had.”

Eden waited.

”A choice that isn’t an answer.”

The words settled heavily over the room.

Aria understood before he did.

”He’s asking you to write without knowing where it leads.”

Eden looked back at the screen.

For his entire life, every story had been moving toward something. Even when he thought he was improvising, there had always been an answer he wanted. Luna alive. Aria safe. His family together. His grief healed. His questions resolved.

There had always been an ending in mind.

Now there wasn’t.

The page waiting before him was completely blank. No prophecy. No predetermined destination. No answer.

Only possibility.

Slowly, Eden sat down.

His hands rested on the keyboard.

The stranger stepped back into the shadows. The little boy watched quietly. Aria remained beside him.

Nobody spoke.

Eden stared at the blinking cursor.

Then he began to type.

Eden did not know what would happen next.

The room remained silent.

He kept writing.

For the first time, he didn’t try to find out.

Nothing happened.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

Then he typed the sentence that frightened him more than anything else he had ever written.

He chose to keep going anyway.

The cursor stopped blinking.

The computer remained silent.

No new words appeared. No voice corrected him. No Reader intervened. No eye opened in the darkness. No world collapsed.

Nothing happened at all.

Eden waited.

Then he realized what that meant.

The story wasn’t resisting him. It wasn’t controlling him. It wasn’t even watching.

For the first time since he had drawn a door and asked whether anyone was there, he was alone with a blank page.

Not abandoned.

Not forgotten.

Free.

He looked toward the stranger.

”Did I do it?”

The man smiled.

”You did.”

”What happens now?”

The stranger turned toward the darkness beyond the room. A new path seemed to open where none had existed before.

”Now?” he said.

He took a single step forward.

”Now we find out.”

And for the first time in Eden’s life, the next page was truly blank.
