Yandere Stream

The third knock faded into the room and left behind a silence so complete that it seemed to press against the walls. For several long seconds, nobody moved. Eden remained seated at the desk, his hands hovering above the keyboard as though the slightest motion might force reality to answer a question he was no longer certain he wanted answered.

The words on the screen remained unchanged.

What was waiting for me?

The child stood behind him. Aria remained beside him. Somewhere beyond the white wall, whatever had knocked was still waiting.

Eden slowly turned toward the sound. ”Did you hear that?”

Aria folded her arms and gave him a tired look. ”Unfortunately.”

Under normal circumstances, that response would have earned a smile. This time it didn’t. His attention shifted to the child instead, and the moment he saw the boy’s face, unease settled deep in his chest. The child wasn’t smiling.

That alone felt wrong.

Throughout his impossible journey, Eden had grown accustomed to mysteries wearing smiles. Readers smiled before revealing secrets. Monsters smiled before they attacked. Alternate versions of himself smiled because they always seemed to know something he didn’t. Every impossible thing he had encountered carried some strange amusement hidden behind its eyes.

This child didn’t.

He looked terrified.

Eden rose from the chair, his gaze fixed on the boy. ”What is it?”

The child shook his head immediately. ”Don’t open it.”

Eden stared at him in disbelief. ”You’ve spent all this time telling me I needed to remember.”

”I did.”

”And now you’re telling me not to look?”

”Yes.”

”Why?”

The boy swallowed before answering. ”Because this time it knows you’re coming.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

A cold sensation traveled down Eden’s spine.

”What knows I’m coming?”

The child didn’t answer. Instead, he looked toward the wall.

The room fell silent.

Then a faint scraping sound emerged from the other side.

It wasn’t another knock.

It sounded like something dragging itself slowly across a surface, moving with patient deliberation. The noise traveled from one side of the wall to the other, never speeding up, never slowing down. It felt less like movement and more like anticipation.

Aria instinctively stepped closer to him.

”Maybe we should leave.”

Eden glanced around the room and almost laughed.

”Leave where?”

The question answered itself. There was no door. No window. No visible exit. Only the desk, the computer, and four white walls extending endlessly toward a blank ceiling.

Aria sighed.

”Fair point.”

The scraping stopped.

Silence returned.

Then a voice spoke from the wall.

”Eden.”

His blood turned cold.

Aria’s hand immediately closed around his arm.

The voice was familiar.

Far too familiar.

For a moment, Eden forgot how to breathe.

”Luna?”

The name escaped before he could stop it.

Aria tightened her grip. ”Don’t.”

The voice came again.

”Eden.”

It was perfect.

Not similar.

Not close.

Perfect.

Every inflection matched. Every subtle shift in tone. The warmth hidden beneath exhaustion. The softness Luna always carried when speaking to him during the years before everything fell apart.

His chest ached.

The sound of her voice shattered every defense he had spent twenty years building.

”Luna?”

Aria stepped in front of him.

”Eden, listen to me.”

But the voice interrupted her.

”Please.”

That single word nearly broke him.

He closed his eyes as twenty years of grief crashed into him all at once. Twenty years of searching. Twenty years of wondering what he would say if he ever heard her voice again. Twenty years spent carrying a wound that never truly healed.

Behind him, the child spoke in a whisper.

”It’s not her.”

Eden opened his eyes.

”How do you know?”

The boy pointed toward the wall.

”Because she’s on the other side.”

The wall trembled.

A crack appeared across its surface.

The child stepped backward.

”And she isn’t supposed to be there.”

Aria looked between the wall and the boy. ”What does that mean?”

The child pointed toward the fracture spreading across the white surface.

”That’s not a door.”

The crack widened.

Thin black lines raced outward in every direction until the wall resembled a sheet of paper splitting apart from the center.

”It’s a page.”

Eden stared at it as realization settled heavily inside him.

”What happens if it opens?”

The child looked at him with a sadness that seemed impossibly old.

”You already know.”

The wall split.

Not outward.

Inward.

The white surface folded back upon itself like paper being opened by unseen hands.

Darkness waited beyond.

And standing inside that darkness was Luna.

Eden stopped breathing.

She looked exactly as he remembered.

Every detail was perfect.

The shape of her face. The length of her hair. The faint scar near her eyebrow. Even the subtle imbalance in her posture, with one shoulder resting slightly lower than the other.

For one impossible moment, it felt as though the universe had finally surrendered.

As though reality had decided he had suffered enough.

Her eyes met his.

”Eden.”

He took a step forward.

Aria immediately grabbed his arm.

”Luna?”

She smiled.

”Come here.”

The invitation struck him harder than any revelation he had encountered throughout his journey. Every instinct begged him to run to her. Every memory urged him forward. Twenty years of loss weighed against a distance of only a few feet.

Alive.

Waiting.

He took another step.

The child suddenly shouted.

”Don’t!”

Eden stopped.

Luna’s expression flickered.

The change lasted less than a second.

A flash of irritation.

Then it vanished.

The smile returned.

”Who is that?” she asked.

The boy was trembling now.

”He knows.”

Luna turned toward him.

”Knows what?”

The child didn’t answer.

Eden looked back at her.

”Tell me.”

She tilted her head.

”Tell you what?”

”Why were you waiting?”

The smile faded slightly.

”You asked what was waiting for you.”

”And?”

”And now you have your answer.”

Eden stared at her.

Something felt wrong.

The feeling grew stronger the longer he looked.

Her chest wasn’t moving.

She wasn’t breathing.

Her hair remained perfectly still despite the darkness surrounding her.

Most unsettling of all, she wasn’t actually looking at him.

Her gaze was focused somewhere behind him.

Slowly, Eden turned around.

The computer screen had changed.

The question was gone.

New words were appearing.

SHE IS WHAT YOU WANTED TO FIND.

Another line formed beneath it.

NOT WHAT YOU FOUND.

Eden felt his stomach drop.

When he looked back, Luna’s expression had gone blank.

Aria whispered his name.

He didn’t want to understand.

But he already did.

”You aren’t Luna.”

The figure smiled.

The wrong smile.

Too perfect.

Too deliberate.

”Of course I am.”

”No.”

Eden stepped backward.

”You know what I wanted.”

Silence.

”You know what she sounded like.”

Nothing.

”You know what she looked like.”

The smile widened.

”But you don’t know why she loved me.”

For the first time, the thing reacted.

Its face twitched.

Only slightly.

But it was enough.

Certainty settled inside him.

”You can copy her voice. You can copy her memories. You can copy every word she ever said.”

His gaze hardened.

”But you can’t copy the reason.”

The smile disappeared.

The creature’s features began losing their shape. Its eyes darkened. Its skin blurred. Its mouth shifted subtly out of place.

Then the voice changed.

Luna.

Aria.

Eden.

Dozens more.

All layered together.

”You don’t get to decide what is real.”

Eden looked toward the blank page waiting on the screen.

And suddenly he understood.

This wasn’t a test of memory.

It wasn’t about recognizing a false Luna.

It wasn’t about resisting temptation.

The real question was whether he would erase something simply because it wasn’t what he wanted it to be.

Without another word, he sat back down at the desk.

The creature watched him.

”What are you doing?”

Eden placed his hands on the keyboard.

”I’m writing.”

The creature laughed.

”You think you’re the Author?”

Eden shook his head.

”No.”

His fingers touched the keys.

Words appeared.

He looked directly at the thing wearing Luna’s face.

The creature froze.

Eden began typing.

He wanted to believe it was her.

His fingers paused briefly.

His eyes closed.

Then he continued.

But wanting something to be true had never made it true.

The room shook violently.

Flames erupted along the edges of the page.

The creature screamed.

Aria grabbed his shoulder.

”Eden!”

He kept typing.

So he did not ask it to become Luna.

The creature lunged forward.

The walls trembled.

Darkness twisted around it.

Eden’s fingers moved faster.

Instead, he asked it one question.

The creature stopped.

The words appeared on the screen.

What did Luna choose when nobody was watching?

Everything became still.

The creature’s mouth opened.

Nothing emerged.

Its body began to crack.

Not like glass.

Not like flesh.

Like a sentence being erased from a page.

Its face vanished first.

Then its hands.

Then the rest followed.

Only a dark silhouette remained.

The silhouette looked at him.

For the first time, its voice belonged only to itself.

Quiet.

Ancient.

Almost human.

”She chose you.”

Eden froze.

The silhouette smiled sadly.

”That’s why you were never able to recreate her.”

Then it disappeared.

The room fell silent.

Aria slowly released his shoulder.

The child approached the computer and studied the words on the screen. After a long moment, he nodded.

”You understand now.”

Eden looked at him.

”Understand what?”

The boy pointed toward the darkness beyond the torn page.

”The thing waiting for you wasn’t Luna.”

Eden followed his gaze.

”It was the answer.”

Aria frowned.

”Answer to what?”

The child looked directly at Eden.

”The question you asked before you ever opened the first door.”

A forgotten memory stirred.

Something ancient.

Something buried beneath every story, every world, and every version of himself.

He saw a small boy sitting beneath a desk.

Alone.

Crying.

Afraid.

The child whispered into the darkness.

”Is anybody there?”

Eden’s eyes widened.

That had been the question.

Not what was behind the door.

Not what would happen if he opened it.

Just that.

A frightened child asking whether anyone existed beyond the silence.

The computer suddenly came to life.

A new word appeared.

YES.

Eden stared.

Another sentence followed.

THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMEONE THERE.

Aria’s face lost all color.

The child stepped away from the screen.

A third sentence appeared.

YOU JUST NEVER ASKED WHO.

The room went dark.

Not gradually.

Instantly.

Every source of light vanished.

Then a voice spoke.

Not from the wall.

Not from the page.

Not from the darkness ahead.

From directly behind Eden.

A voice he had never heard before and yet somehow recognized. It felt familiar in the way home felt familiar after years of wandering. Ancient. Comforting. Patient.

”Hello, Eden.”

Slowly, he turned around.

And for the first time since the story began, he finally saw what had been waiting on the other side of the very first door.
