Yandere Stream

Eden didn’t take her hand. He stared at it for several seconds, watching her fingers remain perfectly still in the darkness between them. There was no threat in the gesture and no force behind it. She wasn’t demanding anything from him. Somehow, that made it worse. The woman simply waited, as if she already knew what he would do and was only allowing him the illusion of choice.

”Who are you?” Eden asked again.

The woman smiled faintly. ”You’ve asked me that three times.”

”And you haven’t answered.”

”I did.”

”You said you were the first child.”

”I am.”

”That doesn’t tell me who you are.”

She slowly lowered her hand. ”My name is Aria.”

The name struck him strangely. It didn’t feel like a memory. It felt like the empty space where a memory should have been. Eden closed his eyes, and for the briefest moment he saw a girl standing beneath a tree. She had long black hair, bare feet, and her hand was wrapped around his. Then the vision vanished. When he opened his eyes again, Aria was still standing there.

”Aria.”

She nodded. ”You remember.”

”No.”

”Not consciously.”

”Then why does your name feel familiar?”

”Because I taught you how to say it.”

Eden stared at her. ”You were my sister?”

A sad smile appeared on her face. ”Yes.”

”Real?”

”Real enough.”

The darkness stretched endlessly around them. There was no ground, no sky, and no sign of anyone else.

”Where are the others?”

”Gone.”

His expression hardened immediately. ”You killed them.”

”No.”

”Then bring them back.”

”I can’t.”

”You just said I decide what becomes real.”

”You do.”

”Then I’ll bring them back.”

Aria shook her head. ”You’re still thinking like a character.”

Eden frowned. ”What does that mean?”

”You think reality is a room with people inside it. You think if someone disappears, you can simply open the door and bring them back. That’s not how this works.”

”Then explain it.”

Aria pointed toward his chest. ”Everything you remember is connected to you.” Then she gestured toward the darkness surrounding them. ”Everything you forget becomes part of the Forgotten.” Finally, she touched her own chest. ”And everything you choose becomes real.”

Eden shook his head. ”That’s too simple.”

”It is.”

”Then why is everyone disappearing?”

”Because you’ve been choosing things that contradict each other.”

Eden stared at her. ”Give me an example.”

”You chose to live. You chose to save Cael. You chose Luna. You chose to remember Mira.”

”Yes.”

Aria nodded slowly. ”And all of those choices cannot exist together.”

”Why?”

”Because you are still carrying the consequences of your first death.”

Eden’s jaw tightened. ”My death at six.”

”Yes.”

”You keep bringing that up.”

”Because that’s where everything went wrong.”

For a moment he looked away. ”What happened?”

Aria’s expression softened. ”You died.”

”I know.”

”No.” She stepped closer. ”You don’t.”

Eden looked back at her.

”You stopped breathing. Your heart stopped. The doctors tried to bring you back.”

He remained silent.

”They failed.”

His fingers slowly curled into fists. ”Then what happened?”

Aria met his eyes. ”I was holding your hand.”

His breathing became uneven. ”I remember.”

”You shouldn’t.”

”I remember a girl.”

”Me.”

”You were crying.”

”Yes.”

”You told me not to leave.”

Aria nodded. ”You promised me you wouldn’t.”

The memory suddenly became clearer. He could smell disinfectant. He could hear the steady beeping of hospital machines. He could hear his mother’s voice somewhere in the room. Most of all, he remembered Aria’s hand wrapped around his. Then darkness swallowed everything. A voice followed him into it, a voice that sounded exactly like his own.

I don’t want to go.

Eden opened his eyes. ”That was when Luna was created.”

Aria nodded. ”Yes.”

”But why?”

”Because you needed someone to carry the part of you that refused death.”

Eden looked toward the empty darkness where Luna should have been. ”So Luna is my refusal.”

”Yes.”

”Then what am I?”

Aria smiled sadly. ”Your acceptance.”

The answer struck him harder than he expected. Suddenly Luna’s final words made sense. She hadn’t been asking him to abandon her. She had been asking him to stop fighting death itself. She represented the part of him that could never accept an ending. Eden represented the part that had finally learned to live despite one.

Aria stepped closer. ”That is why you can’t keep her.”

His voice became quieter. ”What happens if I do?”

”You’ll stop living.”

”Why?”

”Because Luna doesn’t want you to live.”

Eden stared at her.

”She wants you to stay.”

The darkness shifted around them. For a moment, Luna appeared beneath the tree. She looked alive, happy, and impossibly real. Eden immediately stepped toward her.

”Luna.”

She looked up with tears in her eyes. ”You can stay.”

His chest tightened painfully. ”Come back.”

She shook her head. ”You know I can’t.”

”I don’t care.”

”You should.”

”Why?”

”Because if I come back, you will stop moving forward.”

Eden stared at her. ”I don’t want to move forward without you.”

Luna smiled softly. ”You don’t have to. You just have to move forward with me somewhere inside you.”

His eyes burned. ”That’s not enough.”

”It has to be.”

She walked toward him and placed a hand against his chest. Her fingers passed through him, but warmth spread beneath his skin like sunlight. Eden gasped as Luna leaned closer.

”Thank you for choosing me.”

Then she disappeared. There was no pain, no violence, and no dramatic farewell. She simply became a memory. A real memory. Something he could carry without needing to bring back to life. Eden dropped to his knees while Aria watched silently.

Several moments passed before he finally wiped his face.

”She chose to disappear.”

”Yes.”

”Why?”

”Because she loved you.”

Eden laughed bitterly. ”That’s a terrible kind of love.”

”Sometimes the worst thing love can do is stay.”

He looked up at her. ”You sound like you’ve experienced it.”

The smile vanished from Aria’s face. ”I have.”

”Who?”

She didn’t answer.

Eden slowly stood again. ”You said you were my sister.”

”Yes.”

”Then why were you watching us?”

”Because I wasn’t supposed to be there.”

”Why?”

Aria looked into the darkness. ”Because I was already dead.”

Eden froze.

”I died before you.”

”How?”

”Trying to save you.”

The words hit him harder than anything else she had said. He stared at her in disbelief.

”You died?”

”Yes.”

”And nobody remembers?”

”They did.”

”Then why don’t I?”

”Because you asked me to forget.”

Eden shook his head immediately. ”I wouldn’t.”

”You did.”

”Why?”

Aria stepped closer. ”Because after I died, you blamed yourself.”

His expression changed.

”You were my sister.”

”Yes.”

”I couldn’t save you.”

”No.”

”So I created a world where you never existed.”

Aria nodded. ”You erased me.”

Eden stared at her. ”And then?”

”You erased yourself.”

Everything suddenly clicked into place. The First Eden had never been the beginning. Aria had. She was the first loss, the first death, and the first memory Eden couldn’t bear to keep. Everything that came afterward—Mira, Adrian, Finn, Luna, Cael—had been an attempt to rebuild something that had already been lost.

”You were the first story.”

Aria smiled gently and touched his forehead.

”No. I was the first reason.”

At that moment the darkness cracked. A sound echoed from somewhere impossibly far away. It was a heartbeat. Slow. Heavy. Ancient.

Boom.

The darkness trembled.

Boom.

Eden felt his own chest answering it.

Boom.

Aria stepped backward, fear flooding her face.

”No.”

”What?”

”He found the source.”

”What source?”

”The thing beneath the story.”

The darkness split apart. A massive red eye opened above them. It wasn’t the eye they had seen before. This one felt older, hungrier, and infinitely more aware. It fixed itself on Eden.

Aria grabbed his arm. ”We have to go.”

”Where?”

”Anywhere.”

”Why?”

”Because if it sees you...”

The eye opened wider.

”...it will remember what you really are.”

Eden couldn’t look away. ”What am I?”

The answer came from inside his own mind.

You are the first lie.

Eden froze.

Aria released him, her face completely pale.

”No.”

He turned toward her. ”What does that mean?”

She shook her head. ”I don’t know.”

”You’re lying.”

”I swear.”

”You know what I am.”

”I don’t.”

The eye continued staring.

You were never human.

Eden’s breathing stopped.

You were never a character.

The darkness folded inward around them.

You were never the narrator.

Eden looked at Aria. Tears were running down her face now.

Then the final words echoed through the void.

You were the story pretending to be a person.

Everything vanished.

When Eden opened his eyes again, he was lying beneath the tree. Morning sunlight touched his face. Birds were singing. The house stood quietly behind him. Everything looked normal except for one thing.

A little girl sat beside him in the grass.

She had long black hair, pale skin, and pitch-black eyes.

She smiled.

”Good morning, Eden.”

He stared at her. ”Aria?”

She nodded.

”But you’re dead.”

”I know.”

”Then why are you here?”

Aria smiled softly. ”Because you finally remembered me.”

Eden immediately looked toward the house. Luna was gone. Mira was gone. Adrian, Finn, Cael, Nobody, and Eve had vanished as well. Only Aria remained.

She reached out and took his hand.

”Don’t worry. You’re not alone anymore.”

Behind them, the tree suddenly began bleeding black ink. The dark liquid ran down its bark as new words carved themselves into the trunk. Eden had never seen them before, but somehow he understood their meaning immediately.

THE STORY WOKE.
