Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 341: Chapter 340: So Challenging

But soon enough, Ye Haochuan, from the depths of Xiao Haimei’s eyes, understood her inner world.

Damn, this Sister Mei, was actually blaming me for not introducing her as my fiancée to my mother and instead keeping her a secret.

”Well...” Ye Haochuan looked up and gave a forced laugh, unsure of how to explain himself.

Xiao Haimei glared at him fiercely. Was it really that hard to reveal her identity to her future mother-in-law?

Thinking this, she couldn’t help but kick him on the shin.

Ye Haochuan unexpectedly took a kick. Although it didn’t hurt, he slightly frowned.

Such a subtle expression, seen by Tong Xiangxiu who had secretly cared for Ye Haochuan for over twenty years, could hardly go unnoticed.

”Haochuan, what’s wrong?” Tong Xiangxiu asked curiously.

Ye Haochuan wanted to explain, but didn’t know where to begin, so he vaguely said, ”It’s nothing, just a cramp in my leg.”

Tong Xiangxiu did not suspect anything, but rather in an apologetic tone, she said to Xiao Haimei, ”Chairman Xiao, my son lacks manners. Please be magnanimous, and don’t mind it.”

Ye Haochuan found it amusing, his future mother-in-law apologizing to his future wife—this situation really was unpredictable, interesting indeed.

As for Xiao Haimei, it was a bit of a laugh and cry situation. She wanted to reveal her relationship with Ye Haochuan, but as a woman initiating it seemed a bit too eager.

Really, this dead man, doing it on purpose, wasn’t he?

Xiao Haimei once again glared at him fiercely, her face smiling, ”Auntie jokes too much. Doctor Ye is a rare talent at Haishan University. We’d never dare offend him, much less take offense.”

This remark was undoubtedly sarcastic, hinting that Ye Haochuan was too bold, not heeding her words, which she clearly picked up on.

Heh heh, smiling, Ye Haochuan glanced at his puzzled mother and said to Xiao Haimei, ”Chairman Xiao jokes as well. I’m grateful for your leniency. Although I, Ye Haochuan, may be irreverent, I still understand the principle that a drop of water should be reciprocated with a spring.”

His words were clearly hinting to Xiao Haimei to be a bit more lenient, not to grasp at his minor faults, and give him time to provide a satisfactory answer.

With her new experience, and unaware of the innuendos between her son and Chairman Xiao, Tong Xiangxiu simply nodded along ceaselessly, ”Well said, Chairman Xiao thinks highly of you. You must work hard to live up to the salary Chairman Xiao gives you.”

In front of his mother, Ye Haochuan was naturally all nods and agreements.

After having lunch, Xiao Haimei and Ye Haochuan headed to the parking lot outside the little Western-style house.

Ye Haochuan saw that the originally luxurious Porsche belonging to Xiao Haimei had been replaced with an Audi A4, leaving him a bit astonished.

But soon, he realized that the Xiao family had accumulated a huge debt, and she had probably sold the Porsche and bought this Audi instead.

Upon settling in the Audi, the moment Ye Haochuan fastened his seatbelt, Xiao Haimei, sitting in the driver’s seat, complained, ”You, always dishonest. What’s the time now, still not revealing our relationship in front of your own mother?”

”Hold on, what’s the rush?” Ye Haochuan chuckled.

”You’re the one in a rush!” Xiao Haimei retorted, ”We are both unattached, completely honorable in our togetherness. There’s nothing shady about that, and besides, merely letting your mother know about us, making her happy, what’s wrong with that?”

Saying this, Xiao Haimei started to get a bit upset, ”Unless, you never planned to reveal our relationship. Ye Haochuan, I warn you, the Xiao family may have fallen, but we are still not to be trifled with.”

Ye Haochuan was sweating heavily. What did all this have to do with anything?

”Okay, I was wrong. When we get back, I’ll find a chance to explain our relationship to my mom, okay?” Ye Haochuan said.

Only then did Xiao Haimei flash a smile, ”That’s more like it.” Saying this, she started the engine.

Ye Haochuan breathed a sigh of relief and quickly asked where they were headed next.

”Now that we intend to make the school hospital open to the public, we must expand its influence. I received news the day before yesterday that today Haishan’s major hospitals are hosting a conference. They’ve organized a group of expert professors to participate, and the city TV station will also send reporters. I think it’s a great opportunity to promote our school-affiliated hospital, so I had someone register you yesterday.” Xiao Haimei said, her eyes sparkling with shrewd excitement.

Only then did Ye Haochuan realize she wanted to use him for publicity.

At that moment, Xiao Haimei gently pressed the gas pedal, and the car slowly drove out of the villa.

”Attending this conference is indeed a masterstroke, but do you really trust that I can make you proud?” Ye Haochuan said with a smile.

”Yes,” Xiao Haimei said with an adoring smile.

Ye Haochuan was moved and blinked, ”If I do make you proud, what’s my reward?”

”What reward do you want?” Xiao Haimei could easily guess his flirty intentions, her eyes teasing.

At 1:30 PM, the Audi A4 entered the Haishan Medical University campus, the location of the conference.

After parking the car outside the venue, Xiao Haimei then led Ye Haochuan towards the conference hall.

The security at the venue checked the pass that Xiao Haimei provided and then let them in.

Today, Xiao Haimei had dressed up deliberately and formally for the occasion, yet her perfect, enticing figure still managed to capture the attention of any normal man.

As a result, her appearance at the venue instantly drew everyone’s eyes.

Ye Haochuan even heard numerous men swallowing saliva and saw many women giving envious and jealous glances.

After Xiao Haimei and Ye Haochuan sat down in the guest seating area, Ye Haochuan’s gaze turned towards the stage, where six elderly men with white hair sat—clearly medical doyens of Haishan City. And below the stage, many Medical University teachers and students, as well as invited city TV station reporters, filled the seats.

After about five minutes, the elderly man in the middle began to speak. He was Shi Mingtai, the President of Haishan Medical University.

After some perfunctory opening remarks, Shi Mingtai announced the official start of the conference.

Then, a group of experts from the Haishan medical community took turns on stage, presenting their medical insights and papers.

In less than an hour, five experts had given their speeches, earning rounds of applause.

However, when President Shi Mingtai announced it was Ye Haochuan’s turn to speak, everyone at the venue was momentarily stunned.

This young man, he was too youthful, wasn’t he?
