Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1426: Section 1427: Whirlpool of Magic Source

If a breakthrough could be likened to a battle, then this battle would certainly be beset on all sides, shrouded in gun smoke!

For once you decide to break through, you will face four battlefields concurrently, and you must resolve the conflicts on each before you can successfully transcend the ordinary and embark on the immortal path of the Wizard.

These four battlefields are the physical body, the Land of the Soul, the Spirit Sea, and the Mind Space.

The first to sound the war drums is the Spirit Sea, but this is also the easiest of the four battlefields to resolve. With the help of the Agility Potion, you can temporarily dismiss the impact of the Spirit Sea on this breakthrough battle.

And the second to clamor is the Mind Space.

Relying on the cool fluctuations of the Agility Potion, Angel temporarily stabilized the issue of spiritual expansion and now turned his attention to the Mind Space.

If the expansion of the Spirit Sea was just the war trumpet being sounded, then the Whirlpool of Magic Source in the Mind Space signaled the formal commencement of battle.

Because, if Angel was determined to break through, he had to fire the first shot himself—open up the Magical Core and bring about change to the Whirlpool of Magic Source.

In the comparatively much brighter Mind Space, Angel focused his attention on the Magical Core connected to the Psychic Model.

Under the influence of the spell, the Magical Core had swelled to a size beyond Angel’s imagination.

Angel waited quietly, and when the Magical Core expanded to the brink of bursting, that would be his time to open it up.

Time trickled away.

Angel had seen records before; many Apprentices, by absorbing Primordial Magic, could reach the point of cracking the Magical Core in about a quarter of an hour, a calculation that basically allowed one to deduce the critical limit of the Magical Core’s capacity for magic.

However, his Magical Core had already been containing magic for over half an hour.

Because of the different Guiding Methods, his Magical Core’s volume was much stronger than that of a common Apprentice, and with such a long accumulation of volume, it was even more than twice that of a common Apprentice’s Magical Core.

This situation had its pros and cons.

Before the Transmutation, the larger the volume of the Magical Core, the stronger the Magic Vortex that would eventually form, granting control over a larger total amount of magic, and speeding up the Transmutation rate of Primordial Magic.

But this was just saving some cultivation time. Once the advancement was successful, an ordinary Magic Vortex could reach such heights after some cultivation days.

Moreover, if the volume of the Magical Core was too high before Transmutation, it would create a greater crisis during the Transmutation process.

Because during Transmutation, the energy would continuously dissipate, and these dissipating energies would cause immense destruction to the Mind Space.

Without the Ancient Silver Flower, such a massive Magic Vortex would require Angel to exert more effort to handle those disordered energies, adding unnecessary risks.

However, Angel had no other choice. He dared not touch the Magical Core until it reached its limit.

Unless he decided not to break through and discharge the magic from the Magical Core. Otherwise, he could only wait quietly for the Magical Core to swell to its critical value.

While Angel was waiting helplessly, Sanders was observing from afar.

Although he couldn’t see the situation inside Angel’s Mind Space, he could roughly infer that Angel hadn’t yet taken the step to Transmutation, based on his experience and the nearby energy ripples.

That is to say, the Magical Core hadn’t reached its true limit.

For Sanders, the higher the volume of the Magical Core, the better. But it was also a double-edged sword, especially during a breakthrough, where it could easily lead to deviations in the final outcome.

And now, more than half an hour had passed.

He could not imagine how vast Angel’s current Magical Core volume was; once transformed into a Magic Vortex, perhaps the total amount of magic and the efficiency of intake and output could directly be comparable to the midpoint of a First Level Wizard.

But the stronger the Magical Core, the deeper his concerns.

Originally, he was quite confident in Angel’s decision to attempt the breakthrough without the Ancient Silver Flower, but faced with such a terrifying Transmutation to a Magic Vortex, could he really survive without it?

Beyond this, Sanders harbored a small sense of emotion—

Although the Guiding Method that Angel practiced was the “Singularity Scattering Meditation Method”, the one practiced by Angel was slightly different.

Since, in Sanders’s view, Angel had not used the “Thirty-Six Space Coordinates Positioning Method”, there was a significant gap between it and the original version.

Under such circumstances, Angel’s endurance limit for the Magical Core was so strong.

Sanders could hardly imagine, if someone truly practiced the “Singularity Scattering Meditation Method” exactly as prescribed, how terrifying the end result would be.

Of course, he did not believe that any Apprentice could succeed in such a practice. The computational power required by the “Thirty-Six Space Coordinates Positioning Method” was beyond what an Apprentice could achieve.

On the other side, when Angel had been waiting for nearly forty-five minutes.

The Magical Core, which had expanded to nearly the same width as the Psychic Model, finally entered the critical range.

Initially, Angel had some worries about how to handle the Transmutation of the Magic Vortex, but with the Magical Core grown to such an extent, he had completely discarded these concerns.

With such size, one would either make a huge gain or fall into the dust. Rather than worry now, it was better to focus more on the breakthrough.

When a slight crack appeared in the shell of the Magical Core, an enlightenment instantly flashed through Angel’s heart.

The time had come!

If the Magical Core continued to expand, he might have to drink the second bottle of Agility Potion.

It should be noted that for other apprentices, forty-five minutes meant the breakthrough was essentially over, success or failure already determined. However, for Angel, it was just beginning.

As the cracks in the Magical Core grew more severe, Angel immediately started operating the Psychic Model, using the aggregation method recorded in the “Singularity Scattering Meditation Method” to open up the Magical Core!

With the energy contained in the Psychic Model joining in, the shell of the Magical Core bloomed like a flower, instantly transforming into energy particles and immersing into the Mind Space.

These energy particles could temporarily stabilize the Mind Space, giving him more time for this critical step—

The Whirlpool of Magic Source!

Angel’s expression became solemn, his thoughts even more focused, paying no heed to any information from the outside world.

Now that the Magical Core had shattered, the transmutation began!

This was an irreversible process; that is to say, as Angel entered this step, either the transmutation would succeed, and he would ultimately break through to become an Official Wizard, or he would fail and fall from the clouds to become a puddle of mud.

From here on, there was no turning back, no room for regret!

As the shell of the Magical Core dissipated, what remained under the Psychic Model was a large and faintly glowing bundle of pure energy. The amount and refinement of this bundle of energy were so astonishing that even Angel himself was taken aback.

Owing to aggregation, this bundle of energy had not yet started to run wild and was still stably retained. However, if Angel did not promptly transform this bundle of energy into a Magic Vortex, then before long, the energy would start rampaging in the Mind Space, significantly increasing the chances of failure.

More than half of the apprentices failed at this step.

Although the transmutation was a process with a predetermined outcome, each person’s transmutation was different. Just like the “Thirty-Six Space Coordinates Positioning Method,” each person’s Mind Space was different, so there was no exact reference point. To use this positioning method, one had to calculate personally.

Even for Official Wizards, calculating the “Thirty-Six Space Coordinates Positioning Method” took a long time, let alone for apprentices.

This was why apprentices couldn’t use this positioning law.

The same was true for the transmutation; each apprentice’s Magical Core was different, and the energy left during the final transmutation varied greatly: sparse or dense, refined or not, total Magical Core volume, nature of the transmutation… and so on.

Therefore, each apprentice had different methods for the transmutation.

This stage tested the depth of the apprentice’s knowledge.

Let’s see if your understanding of energy is sufficient. If it’s not, or if one can’t react quickly enough, the energy dissipation rate in the latter stages would be unimaginably fast. In the end, the Mind Space would become a tangled mess, beyond salvation.

On the path of cultivation, Angel was not only lucky, but his talent was also valued by Sanders.

He had a more sensitive understanding of energy than the average apprentice. Otherwise, Sanders would not have allowed Angel to prepare for the breakthrough.

Therefore, when Angel saw this bundle of energy, he did not panic but immediately entered the observation phase of the energy.

It was like taking an exam.

Review the problem, analyze the data, determine the method of solution, and then enter the final answer phase.

This process was a must for every apprentice.

For others, their bundles of energy were not large, so they could quickly observe the rule of energy movement and then immediately start calculating the transmutation.

But Angel was different. His bundle of energy was too vast, with the cycle of energy movement taking longer than that of the others, requiring him to expend more effort observing.

Angel had by now lost track of time.

When he began to settle on the transmutation plan, he glanced at the bundle of energy and breathed a slight sigh of relief.

The energy was still aggregated and had not begun to disperse, meaning that the time he had spent must not have been too long.

In the records he had seen, some apprentices had a large amount of energy already dispersing while they were determining their transmutation plans, so comparatively speaking, although he might have taken more time, there were no errors so far.

The transmutation plan was of utmost importance. Angel quickly reviewed it in his thoughts, ensuring there were no issues, and then he began to work on that aggregated bundle of energy.

First, he needed to aggregate the seed of the Magic Vortex.

Next, once the bundle of energy entered the operational rhythm of the Magic Vortex seed, it would gradually begin to rotate, becoming the initial state of the Magic Vortex.

When the Magic Vortex Embryo began to appear, the last step was to stabilize the Magic Vortex.

The steps were simple, but the process was not. Moreover, this was not a single process.

Did you think focusing all your efforts on the Magical Core Transmutation was enough? It wasn’t. During this process, the Land of the Soul and the physical body would also be involved.

Meaning, the conflicts on four battlegrounds, including the Mind Space and the Spirit Sea, were about to commence simultaneously.
