Chapter 1408: Section 1409 Get to Work

While Angel was recounting his story, Queen Gumman was also making judgments in her heart.

It should be true.

Combining what she had seen with the changes in her own body, she reached this conclusion.

“That’s exactly the case, and your current state is that of a Semi-Undead,” Angel said, and then with a smile he added, “Do you need my help to complete the remaining White Light Bullets? To transform you into a Soul?”

Queen Gumman coldly replied, “That’s none of your concern.”

“Plus, this Samsara Overture will ultimately belong to me!” Queen Gumman stated with definitive certainty.

Once she obtained the Samsara Overture, her plans could unfold, using Black Castle as her base to slowly develop into a kingdom of the undead, and in the end, completely overturn this world, becoming the realm of the undead… The thought filled Queen Gumman’s eyes with excitement.

Angel did not refute Queen Gumman’s assertion but simply watched with a smile as she was immersed in her dream of world domination.

After a while, when Angel saw Queen Gumman lift her head from her deep thoughts, he continued, “May I ask my questions now?”

Queen Gumman lifted her head, “What do you want to know?”

“Since the Samsara Overture is my creation, I am very interested in obtaining more detailed parameters, even though I might die soon,” Angel started with a pitiful note, then asked, “I want to know, when you are in a Semi-Undead state, is it the undead thought or the soul thought that takes the lead? And, after becoming a Semi-Undead, how does the energy inside you increase? I’m referring to, Soul Force and the Force of the Dead.”

Queen Gumman thought Angel would ask about her Special Ability, or plead for mercy, but did not expect these questions.

Queen Gumman coldly said, “There is no need to ask me about that.”

“Why? Are you unwilling to answer?” Angel appeared “anxious,” “Are you going to break your promise?”

Her lips curled up in a cold smile, “I will not break my promise. I’m rewarding you. Considering you answered my questions, I’ll give you the reward of transforming from the undead to a Semi-Undead, and then you’ll know the specific situation, won’t you?”

If you want to know the answer, just wait until you are dead and become an undead. When she uses the Samsara Overture to turn you back into a Semi-Undead, won’t the answer become clear to you?

With these words, Queen Gumman’s intentions were clear.

The Samsara Overture was something she was determined to possess. And for Angel, death was certain!

Angel, upon hearing this, wasn’t surprised by Queen Gumman’s sudden turn of heart, since Semi-Undead were still undead, and one couldn’t use the logic of normal people to speculate, could they?

“Although it’s a bit regrettable, I still want to ask one final question: there really is no other way, is there? Me being alive could actually benefit you,” Angel suggested, “For instance, I could help you deal with the living.”

“The living cannot be trusted. Only the dead are most trustworthy,” Queen Gumman replied without hesitation.

“Is it because once I’m dead, you’ll be able to use your Special Ability to control my Soul?” Angel abruptly asked.

Queen Gumman did not answer but just silently looked at Angel, her eyes growing colder and her murderous intent so strong it seemed almost tangible.

Angel let out a soft sigh and began to move slowly from a standstill, walking towards the Sersepiras where Queen Gumman was. His pace was slow, yet steady, “It’s unfortunate that my Soul also happens to be a Special Soul. Even if I were to die and become an undead, your Special Ability likely wouldn’t affect me.”

Because of Angel’s actions, the surroundings began to stir. The giant undead serpent lifted its head, the mountainous giant extended its fists, and countless undead rose into the air…

Although Queen Gumman made no move, her expression was cautious.

Angel’s behavior was peculiar—he seemed not to fear anything… Queen Gumman recalled his expressions since entering the Corpse Forest, always maintaining such tranquility and calm.

Why was this? Did he have something to rely on?

Even though Queen Gumman was puzzled, she still didn’t believe she could fail, for she was the Chosen of the Dead, with the ability to command all undead, a natural-born Queen of the Dead!

Even if Angel had something to rely on, could he, a mere Apprentice, possibly escape from her grasp?

Even if the Samsara Overture could restrain ordinary undead, her methods were not limited to this alone!

At this point, Angel had reached the front of Sersepiras. The undead Sersepiras’s eye sockets, outward appearance similar to when it was alive, yet its form was insubstantial, filled with turbulent Negative Energy inside a phantom shell.

The crimson orbs of Sersepiras fixated on Angel.

A terrifying pressure bore down on Angel.

Angel, however, seemed indifferent, as though he didn’t feel the pressure at all, and lifted his head to look up at Queen Gumman on the skeletal throne atop Sersepiras.

“Ah, what a shame that Semi-Undead are such excellent research material. But, too wild to tame, too difficult to study further,” Angel sighed softly, “To know your state as a Semi-Undead, the only way seems to be… to turn you into an ordinary Soul first.”

With these words, a hint of fighting spirit finally flashed in his calm eyes!

Angel’s feet tapped the ground, and the Samsara Overture in his hand flourished with a spin around his thumb, quickly flying towards Queen Gumman.

“You’ve certainly hidden your skill well, to be able to move under the pressure of Sersepiras!” Queen Gumman’s face darkened, “But do you really think Sersepiras only has this much ability? Don’t hold back, kill him!”

As Angel flew halfway, a light suddenly ignited at the center of those huge crimson pupils.

Angel had intended to deal directly with King Gumman’s daughter, then discuss other matters.

But as he saw the light in her pupils, his heart trembled, a strong premonition of danger enveloped him, causing his scalp to tingle slightly.

“I can’t overpower her!” Instinctively, Angel aimed the gun barrel at Serseribilas and fired several shots, then his figure swiftly retreated.

The ripples of the Prelude to Extinction extended all the way, dissipating all the undead in its path. However, when the ripple reached near Serseribilas, countless red beams burst forth from the crimson pupils, covering everything from the sky to the ground like a net!

The ripples of the Prelude to Extinction were directly cancelled out by these red beams!

And after destroying the effect of the Prelude to Extinction, the red beams didn’t stop but rushed towards Angel.

Angel could clearly feel that the threat posed by the red beams was extremely intense! This wasn’t something he could withstand!

However, by this time, the net of heaven and earth was already woven, and Angel was like a quail about to be captured, with no way out.

King Gumman’s daughter smiled coldly, “Choosing to get close to Serseribilas was your biggest mistake!”

Facing such densely packed red beams at such close range, King Gumman’s daughter believed that even an Official Wizard wouldn’t be able to escape, let alone an Apprentice!

King Gumman’s daughter already sketched out a smile, waiting for a pile of chopped and mangled flesh to fall to the ground.

However, at this critical juncture, a strange door suddenly appeared behind Angel, who was surrounded by red beams.

As King Gumman’s daughter was still puzzled, a familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her.

“Oh, after all, I was the one who freed you. Otherwise, you would have been tormented much longer in the Bloodbath Pool… That counts for some gratitude, right? Even though you owe me, you’re intent on killing me, to take what’s mine, that’s not very nice.”

The voice was distant and clear, very pleasing to the ear. Yet to King Gumman’s daughter, it was as if she heard a demonic sound, her complexion changed, and she turned her head abruptly.

Out of nowhere, Angel appeared behind her, with a door-shaped phantom shadow gradually fading away behind him.

The Samsara Overture in Angel’s hand was now pressed against King Gumman’s daughter’s head.

“It seems, I’ve won,” Angel said with a light smile.

King Gumman’s daughter’s face was ice-cold, “Is this what you’re relying on? Useless!”

As her words fell, Serseribilas beneath her feet burst out with red beams again, only this time, they shot upwards, not forwards. Simultaneously, a thunderous noise came from all directions, as not only Serseribilas launched an attack, but other undead also responded.

Angel hadn’t expected King Gumman’s daughter to still struggle up to this point.

He frowned, a faint glow emanated from the barrel of the Samsara Overture, and with a trembling sound, a White Light Bullet shot out!

King Gumman’s daughter showed no fear of the White Light Bullet, her lips even curled into a mocking smile.

Angel hadn’t grasped the meaning of that smile when he saw the White Light Bullet pass through King Gumman’s daughter’s Spiritual Body and eventually shoot into the void of darkness, disappearing without a trace!

King Gumman’s daughter’s figure also became increasingly ethereal.

“I told you, it’s useless, you can’t kill me… nobody can kill me…” Her voice slowly faded away, eventually extinguishing into nothing.

Angel watched as King Gumman’s daughter disappeared before his eyes.

There were no spatial fluctuations, indicating that King Gumman’s daughter hadn’t left using spatial techniques.

There were no illusions either, King Gumman’s daughter was truly present before, not an illusion.

So where had she gone now?

A series of questions troubled Angel, but now was not the time to ponder, as the most important thing was to save his own life!

Looking around, he saw the eagerly watching undead filled with malice. And then at his feet, the red Weaving Net made of beams.

Angel sighed, silently reciting the Secret Soul Mantra, performed Astral Projection, and with the aid of the Gravity Meridian, he dashed hundreds of meters away in an arc of light.

Although he had escaped that ordeal, Angel’s expression was not very good.

After landing, he had planned to cope using his soul, given that he now had the Path of Soul Threads and could manipulate Magic Power to cast Tricks with his soul.

But he hadn’t felt it while in his body, it was only after the Astral Projection that he realized the situation around him was too dire.

Gloomy, cold, frenzied, resentful… all sorts of Negative Energy gathered here.

Even though his soul was still alive, it was somewhat overwhelmed by the negative energy.

Having no choice, Angel had to return his soul to his body.

Without the assistance of the Gravity Meridian, trying to survive under the attack of so many undead, including terrifying ones, seemed… a bit difficult.
