Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1415: Section 1416 Frost

“Interesting,”

The man in the black robe focused his gaze on Angel. Previously, he had not paid much attention to this apprentice, but now, upon closer inspection, he had discovered some intriguing details.

This apprentice’s physique was unusually strong, emitting a restrained yet extremely dense blood energy. In fact, it was no less exceptional than those of the surrounding Official Wizards, perhaps even stronger.

To have such a powerful physique during the apprenticeship without collapsing was a very rare occurrence.

Even in the Origin World, he would be considered an extremely potential-rich Wizard seedling.

Probably only those Superstar Magician Organizations, as well as Nuke Academy and the Trudy Bloodline Research Institute which focus on bloodline research, could possess similar talents.

Yet, he had not expected to encounter such a Wizard seedling in the Southern Domain this time.

Besides that, the man in the black robe found many special aspects about Angel, such as his concealed right hand, and the secret yet wonderful soul fluctuations emanating from him…

However, these did not matter to the man in the black robe.

He was not a wizard who took pleasure in prying into others’ secrets, and moreover, this “other” was merely an undeveloped apprentice, not worth probing into deeply.

His gaze, however, eventually fixed on the strangely shaped pistol in Angel’s palm.

“Eh? It actually has fluctuations of mysterious power,” said the man in the black robe curiously as he looked at the pistol, his eyes suddenly flashing a faint light of enlightenment. After a moment, he spoke with a hint of regret, “So it’s a Half-step Mystic, another piece that failed to reach the mystic level. What a pity.”

The man in the black robe revealed the insider information about Samsara Overture, though his tone was thick with regret. This made Isabel on the side somewhat uncomfortable.

“Honored sir, are you also an Alchemist?” Angel asked out of curiosity.

“Also an Alchemist? From your words, it seems you consider yourself one,” the man in the black robe paused, then shook his head. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I am not an Alchemist, although I do have some research into alchemy, especially concerning Mysterious Objects.”

After saying this, the man in the black robe pointed to the Princess of King Gumman who was still undergoing Transmutation, “Is her condition caused by this Half-step Mystic object?”

Angel was unsure whether he should answer or not.

After deliberating for a moment, Angel decided to respond.

The effects of Samsara Overture might be considered a fairly significant secret. But now, this secret was actually known by the core echelons of Black Castle.

If one person knows it, it can still be called a secret. When so many people are aware of it, it has essentially become semi-public.

“Yes, her condition is caused by Samsara Overture,” Angel nodded in acknowledgment.

“Samsara Overture, Samsara… Heh, this name really makes me feel uneasy,” the man in the black robe murmured to himself, then glanced at the Princess of King Gumman again, “The Chaotic Energy inside her is rapidly changing, but surprisingly, even while the Chaotic Energy is changing, it retains a relatively stable state. Such a terrifying balance would collapse with the slightest mistake. So, it is the work of Samsara Overture? Could it be that Samsara Overture can turn the undead back to souls?”

The words of the man in the black robe surprised everyone present. To deduce the true purpose of Samsara Overture just from the current state of the Princess of King Gumman? The insight of this man in the black robe was astonishing!

Since the man in the black robe had already figured out the function of Samsara Overture, Angel had no reason to keep it a secret anymore, “That’s right, the function of Samsara Overture is indeed to turn the undead back into souls.”

“Her condition, is it because she cannot be turned back into a soul by external forces, due to this piece of Samsara Overture being incomplete?” The man in the black robe had an unusual interest in Mysterious Objects, and although this was only a Half-step Mystic, it was still somewhat related to the mystic.

“Samsara Overture’s magazine contains six bullets, and all six must hit the same undead for it to truly transform,” Angel explained, pointing at the Princess of King Gumman, “And she has only been struck by two bullets.”

“I see,” the man in the black robe showed a look of sudden realization and then said, “Since you’ve already fired two bullets, do you plan to turn her into a soul?”

Angel nodded in affirmation.

“Would you mind if I observed the process? I am quite curious about this Transmutation,” the man in the black robe asked very politely.

Angel, however, did not know how to respond to this request because it was not something he could decide; Black Castle’s territory was naturally governed by the people of Black Castle. If he agreed directly, it would be an overstep.

Angel: “I am not affiliated with Black Castle, so I cannot give you an answer. I ask for your understanding.”

The man in the black robe raised an eyebrow but said nothing, instead turning to the Soul Witch who was the first to speak to him, “May I know what your wishes are?”

Isabel’s eyes held a weighing look.

While the man in the black robe was speaking to Angel, Isabel had been trying to speculate about the man’s identity and strength but couldn’t figure it out. The idea of allowing an unknown person to stay within the confines of Black Castle didn’t sit well with her. Yet this man in the black robe was undoubtedly strong; if they offended him, might it bring catastrophe upon Black Castle?

Isabel was constantly weighing the options. Even though the man in the black robe seemed very mild-mannered and polite, a person’s outward behavior does not necessarily reflect his inner thoughts.

Many wizards are elegant and courteous, but while they are gracefully exchanging pleasantries with you, even discussing poetry and scenery, in their hearts, they might already be contemplating where to start dismembering your corpse.

“If you wish to stay temporarily within the boundaries of Black Castle, you can,” Isabel weighed her words carefully, “but according to the rules of Black Castle, you must declare your identity and may not attack any person of Black Castle, including its guests.”

The two requirements mentioned by Isabel were basically common to all Witcher Organizations, and she had even simplified some of the rules.

The man in the black robe nodded noncommittally after listening, “That is acceptable. As I’ve said, I have no intention of becoming your enemy. I only came here to confirm certain matters, and now that they have been confirmed, I should have left. However, the effect of the Samsara Overture has piqued my curiosity.”

After speaking, the man in the black robe gently removed his hood to reveal his face… more precisely, his mask.

Underneath a mane of disheveled silver-white hair was a bronze full-face mask that thoroughly covered even the eyes. The mask’s style was quite unique, starting from the left forehead and extending to the right cheek, it was entirely composed of interconnected, moving gears.

When the man in the black robe spoke, these gears would move accordingly.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Frost. As for my background, consider me a wandering wizard, perhaps?”

A wandering wizard referred to a group of individuals without affiliation to any Witcher Organization.

Isabel frowned at this, regardless of whether the name was real, she did not hold the identity of a wandering wizard in high regard.

Frost, the man in the black robe, seeing Isabel’s expression, knew what she was thinking, “I was once a follower, a devotee of a great alchemist. Yet due to various reasons, I returned to being an independent being, so you could say I am a wandering wizard.”

Isabel did not know if Frost’s explanation was true, but his willingness to explain showed a friendly attitude.

Isabel looked deeply at Frost, “I hope you will keep your word.”

“Naturally, I am not fond of killing,” Frost said with a smile.

With Isabel’s intentions clear, having agreed to let Frost stay temporarily in Black Castle, he turned his gaze to Angel.

Angel, of course, had no objections. Since Isabel had agreed, he did not mind having Frost witness the process of undead transformation.

Frost stood to the side, leaving space for King Gumman’s daughter, signaling to Angel that he could begin.

At this time, the others still hadn’t relaxed their guard against Frost, but due to matters concerning King Gumman’s daughter, they refrained from continuing their questioning.

Angel calmed himself for a moment, temporarily discarding the influence of Frost, and refocused his attention on King Gumman’s daughter.

The previous bullet, after several minutes of transmutation, had greatly dissipated the black aura that surrounded King Gumman’s daughter. She had reverted to a semi-undead state. However, her eyes were now somewhat confused, sometimes filled with anger, sometimes vacant, sometimes bitter, and sometimes calm.

By the looks of it, she seemed very uncertain about the changes to herself.

Angel observed King Gumman’s daughter’s current condition carefully. If she had managed to retain her semi-undead state for years after being hit by a bullet initially, what about now? Could the second bullet also balance the energy within her?

Angel couldn’t help but enter a super-calculation state, paired with the emotionless state of pure thought flow that he experienced when he was pulled into a strange world by the Eye of the Sky.

In Angel’s eyes, King Gumman’s daughter was now filled with data all over.

These data were constantly changing, filled with a strange charm.

Others noticed Angel’s unusual state but were more focused on King Gumman’s daughter and Frost, and thus didn’t pay much attention to Angel.

On the contrary, Frost watched Angel with an intrigued look in his eyes.

That calm demeanor, obsessed and focused state, and the occasional flash of brilliance in his eyes were strikingly similar to the alchemist Frost once followed.

As he watched, Frost couldn’t help but sigh to himself.

Especially seeing the Samsara Overture, Frost’s heart filled with more emotion. The alchemist he followed also disappeared because of the failure to create a Mysterious Object, leaving behind the Half-step Mystic creation with him.

While Frost was lost in his reminiscence, Angel noticed an upward surge in the chaotic energy around King Gumman’s daughter, and simultaneously, the previously stable energy curve within her plummeted like a diver’s leap.

This situation could mean the spiritual body was collapsing!

A flash of enlightenment crossed Angel’s eyes. It seems one White Light Bullet was the limit for King Gumman’s daughter, allowing her to maintain her semi-undead state for a long duration, but another bullet would break that limit.

However, Angel still didn’t understand the principle and reason why a single bullet could maintain King Gumman’s daughter’s semi-undead state.

He could only wait until she transformed back from undead to a regular soul, then see if he could get the answers from her.

With that thought, Angel picked up the Samsara Overture and fired the second shot at King Gumman’s daughter.
