Chapter 1410: Section 1411 Curiosity Killed the Cat

The voice was incredibly soft, like a gentle breeze brushing past the ear, slightly ticklish.

If Princess King Gumman were still alive, perhaps just hearing this voice would have made her swoon. It was deep and hoarse, full of charm, with an unconsciously seductive sexiness.

However, for Princess King Gumman, now turned into a Semi-Undead, the appearance of a voice by her ear at this moment, no matter how enchanting, gave her a shock.

“Fools die from babbling too much, heh,” the voice continued with its peculiarly charming uptick at the end: “Do you know why the cat dies? Because, curiosity killed it.”

Princess King Gumman’s heart chilled, and without looking back to see who was speaking, she forcibly activated “Possession by the Undead.”

No matter who was speaking, it was a threat to her, and she had to escape immediately!

But when Princess King Gumman opened her eyes again, she found she was still in the same place.

Behind her stood the undead she had been possessing, staring blankly on the spot.

Princess King Gumman looked down and saw that not only had she not left, but her Semi-Undead true form was exposed!

She glanced around and discovered that she was trapped within a strange magical barrier. And beside the barrier stood a tall figure.

“This is your Special Ability, huh?” The tall man fondled a black wand in his hand and looked at the two undead inside the barrier.

To be precise, one undead and one Semi-Undead.

“Suddenly emerging from within an undead body, yet previously showing no signs of irregularity… tsk tsk, it seems Angel guessed right after all, your so-called ability to hide is actually a type of possession ability.”

Even Isabel was deceived, thinking King Gumman had a sophisticated hiding ability, in reality, it was possession, and after possession, the original essence and the undead essence were indistinguishable, absolutely difficult to detect.

Princess King Gumman gazed spitefully at the man outside the barrier: “It’s you?! Why are you here, I clearly saw—”

“You clearly saw me engaged in combat with a Red Specter? The Red Specter is indeed formidable, but even Angel can handle so many Red Specters nimbly, do you think as a Mentor, I couldn’t handle one?” The speaker was indeed Sanders.

Angel, who heard the voices from a distance: “…”

What do you mean nimbly? Are you describing a monkey?

Sanders calmly looked at Princess King Gumman, his eyes containing the same curiosity as Angel, the Semi-Undead form of the princess was too inspiring for research.

Luckily, both Angel and Sanders belonged to the Illusion Series, so even with their research interest, they could contain themselves. If it were Isabel from the Soul Sect who was here, she might have been even more excited.

Princess King Gumman’s expression was cold: “Have you been following him all along?”

Sanders nodded very politely.

The one battling the Red Specters on the surface was Sanders’s illusion, while he had been quietly following Angel. Since he landed in the Corpse Forest, Sanders had been nearby. Hence, she witnessed everything.

“No wonder he is fearless, it turns out there’s an old hen following the chick,” Princess King Gumman mocked, her expression growing even darker: “So how did you find me?”

“Before answering your question, I need to correct a mistake of yours, Angel’s confidence doesn’t stem from my presence, but from his ability to leave here at any time,” Sanders paused, then continued: “As for how I discovered you… I actually didn’t discover you.”

Princess King Gumman abruptly looked up.

“The person who discovered you was Angel.”

Although Sanders had always been following Angel, to avoid alerting King Gumman, they did not speak. But Angel always knew of Sanders’s proximity because the Mind Ribbon was unobstructed since he fell into the Corpse Forest.

It wasn’t until recently that Angel confirmed Princess King Gumman’s location and signaled Sanders, who then appeared and made the final interception, concluding the event and settling the dust.

Sanders truly didn’t detect Princess King Gumman because her capacity for possession was almost flawless. It was Angel who found her.

Angel had encountered several odd undead along the way, all of which did not seem like typical undead, and he took notice.

It was when he utilized the ability of his right eye’s green pattern, that he spotted a flaw.

One of Angel’s abilities in his right eye is extremely similar to the Technique of Dispelling Delusion, able to see through false appearances and rapidly process visual data to identify abnormalities.

The first time Angel noticed Princess King Gumman was when he spotted irregularities in one undead, which reminded him of those odd undead before… Upon further investigation, he discovered that this undead had a double image.

It was like it was possessed.

This made Angel recall what Isabel had said about Princess King Gumman having “a sophisticated ability to conceal,” what if she wasn’t hiding at all, but possessing instead?

Once she possessed someone, no one else could detect her.

She could also observe the battlefield closely, which fitted the scenario outside the forest where she was clearing the undead.

With this in mind, Angel approached that undead and tried a verbal test.

And indeed, his test proved successful.

However, Princess King Gumman used her possession ability to flee again, turning Angel’s “test” into “Fools die from babbling too much.”

As Sanders said before, curiosity killed the cat.

Princess King Gumman escaped using her possession ability, and it would not have been easy for Angel to find her again.

But as she was preparing to flee, her curiosity took hold and she looked back at Angel, which allowed him to notice something was off with the undead. He immediately informed Sanders through the Mind Ribbon, intercepting Princess King Gumman.

After explaining, Sanders smiled faintly, “So it’s not just fools who die, curiosity can also be fatal.”

At that moment, the coldness on King Gumman’s daughter’s face seemed almost tangible. She hadn’t expected the ultimate reason to be such!

Her raging fury caused the chaotic energy within her to swell massively, and a large amount of dark mist emanated from her soul body, constantly assaulting the light barrier, trying to break through it.

However, the light barrier did not budge.

“Give up. The light barrier can block all energy, especially immune to negative energy to a high degree. With your power, it’s impossible to break through,” Sanders said.

King Gumman’s daughter stopped in her tracks; the test result was as Sanders had said—she was utterly unable to disturb the light barrier.

She glowered at Sanders, “Do you think it’s all over?”

“Isn’t it?”

“Even if I completely perish, I will not make it easy for you…” King Gumman’s daughter said, and suddenly she threw back her head, her face covered in bulging veins, and let out a piercing scream.

At first, Sanders did not realize what King Gumman’s daughter was doing, as there was no energy emanating from her. However, when the silhouette of Sanders’ figure was outlined by the backlight, he froze for a moment.

Sanders swiftly turned his head, only to see that nearly all of the undead conglomerates in the Corpse Forest were emitting intense light!

This light signified—

Self-destruction!

If it was only a few ordinary undead conglomerates, it might not be much of a concern, but included were the python undead, the perilous mountain giant undead, and even the Eye of Sessairabas that nearly took up half the space!

When this group of terrifying gigantic undead exploded, not only Black Castle, but possibly the entire Black Forest would be thoroughly annihilated!

“Angel, come here!” Sanders shouted through the Mind Ribbon.

Actually, Angel had already reached Sanders’ side without being summoned. Angel’s expression was anxious, his forehead drenched in sweat, “Mentor, what should we do now? We must leave immediately, I’ll open the portal now.”

Sanders quickly pointed at King Gumman’s daughter and instructed, “Take her and open a portal to the outside at once, notify Isabel about the situation here!”

“And you?”

“I’ll stay here. We must find a way to control the explosion of these undead,” Sanders said, then added, “The explosion of these gigantic undead will be slow, there’s still a chance to control it!”

Angel looked back at the glowing undead, indeed, normal, undead conglomerates exploded quickly, but the gigantic ones, such as the python and perilous mountain giants, took time to fully activate the chaotic energy within them.

If they could control the explosion in this period, there was still a chance.

“I told you to find Isabel because of this.” After all, he was from the Illusion Series, and Isabel from the Soul Sect might have a way.

Sanders naturally would not take risks lightly, he was capable of leaving at any moment. However, if he could control the explosion, he was willing to try, after all, beneath the Corpse Forest lay the Soul Realm full of Witches from Black Castle; if the explosion occurred, those witches wouldn’t have much chance of survival with their abilities.

Angel also thought of this; although he did not fancy Black Castle, beneath the Corpse Forest lay not only the Soul Realm but also the Ice Caves. Currently, Greya and Felicia were also inside the Ice Caves, and they too were in great danger of being affected!

With this in mind, Angel immediately nodded.

He opened the portal to the surface and hurried through with King Gumman’s daughter.

As he stepped out of the portal, Angel looked somewhat pale; he had already expended too much energy in the Corpse Forest, and opening the portal this time, especially while bringing King Gumman’s daughter with him, had almost depleted his Magical Core.

Despite feeling unwell, he had not yet lost the ability to act.

Angel quickly assessed the surroundings and found that his arrival was just above ground, not far from where Isabel was.

Angel was planning to go find Isabel, but his sudden appearance had already caught her attention.

Before Angel could act, not only Isabel, but also Isabella, Kimberly, and the other Witches all gathered around him.

They were originally curiously looking at Angel and King Gumman’s daughter behind the light barrier.

Isabella’s eyes lit up, “This is the Origin of Chaos, destroy her quickly!”

However, Angel frowned at this time; it was not the moment to deal with King Gumman’s daughter. He hurriedly said, “Let’s put aside other things for now, the most important thing is below us, the Corpse Forest is in danger!”

Angel quickly explained the situation.

“Is this true?” Isabella and Kimberly asked, their faces showing fear as they sought confirmation from Angel.

Isabel did not even seek confirmation, she disappeared on the spot, teleporting into the Underground Corpse Forest.

Isabel’s actions had proven everything.

Moreover, at this moment, King Gumman’s daughter was also sneering, “It’s useless, even if I haven’t killed everyone in Black Castle, destroying Black Castle is enough.”

Isabella glared fiercely at King Gumman’s daughter, intending to say something, but Kimberly pulled her back, “Let’s deal with her later, we need to go to the Corpse Forest now!”

This was Black Castle’s stronghold; it absolutely could not be destroyed because of this!

What’s more, there were many Apprentices beneath Black Castle. This place was the foundation of Black Castle; if it was destroyed, it wasn’t just about reputation, it could also lead to even greater chaos and turmoil!
