Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

45: Chapter 6: Two Possibilities!【 Collect and Save】_1 45: Chapter 6: Two Possibilities!【 Collect and Save】_1 Nineteen centimeters is a concept so big it surpasses a fully spread human hand by a good margin.

This millipede was immense, its fifteen pairs of legs rapidly moving unobstructed through the forest, it was practically invincible as long it didn’t encounter large predators.

It crawled through the forest, moving instantly toward a small cluster of ants on the ground, frantically chewing them up as soon as Jia Yan saw it.

“How is this possible…”

From about four to five meters above, Jia Yan watched as the millipede savagely ravaged the ground, but his heart simply could not believe it.

Regardless of the size increase, a millipede should never be able to grow to such an enormous size.

It’s simply impossible to be the product of natural evolution!

So there’s only one explanation!

This millipede must have been transformed by the ‘antimicrobial peptides’ potion stolen from the Northeast Wild Tiger, just like the man with glasses on the train had said that day!

“If a mutated millipede like this has appeared here, it means that the two assassins didn’t lie to me, the factory really is nearby!”

Jia Yan’s eyes lit up.

The appearance of this millipede provides significant validation for the seemingly uncertain existence of the so-called ‘factory’.

Jia Yan felt reassured, his determination to find the factory even more steadfast!

The millipede was still devouring ants on the ground, even going after and devouring anything edible.

It couldn’t be helped; this millipede had grown too large.

Its natural diet mainly consists of ants and other small bugs, but since it has grown so large, it can’t possibly fill up its stomach no matter how much food it consumes.

So it just keeps eating non-stop.

Although the forest is filled with various plants and animals, there might not be enough ants and other small creatures to keep this millipede fed.

Without anyone knowing, the millipede could possibly starve to death in the end.

“This millipede has mutated, but the Northeast Wild Tigers’ factory didn’t clean it up.

Based on this, I can infer two possibilities.”

“The first possibility is that although similar incidents have occurred in the past, the Northeast Wild Tigers and their people didn’t care about such things, or at least didn’t consider them a big deal.

If they catch these giant mutated creatures, they’ll destroy them, but if they don’t, then it doesn’t really matter.”

“The second possibility is that there are now too many mutated creatures in the factory for them to handle, and some have escaped.

This millipede is one of them!”

“Between the two conjectures, I think the second one is more likely.

After all, for a deeply calculating person, according to the addict’s statement on the train, they had expanded their influence nationwide.

How could they simply ignore these mutated creatures?

So, the only possibility is that the factory is now overwhelmed, unable to control all these mutated creatures!”

Jia Yan’s heart was excited.

If things were really as he thought, and the factory was currently in a state of semi-chaos due to an overwhelming number of mutations, then his chances were even greater!

However, he was hoping that the situation hadn’t become too chaotic for the Northeast Wild Tigers to handle, thus forcing them to shut down the factory…

Jia Yan decided to speed things up and head for the supposed factory!

But the forest during the day was really quite dangerous.

He finally found a thick tree with a split trunk where he could burrow himself inside.

By this time, the sun outside had already risen completely.

A few early-birds were chirping and darting through the forest.

This made Jia Yan grateful for his clear decision; with his current appearance, he could compete with bats, but when it came to birds, it was probably a close call.

Especially considering the vast quantity of birds in the daytime forest, he wouldn’t last even if there were ten of him!

“Huh?…”

Just as Jia Yan was feeling relieved, he realized that a bizarre, colorful bug was staring right at him from underneath the tree bark.

Jia Yan was startled and began to fly out of the split in the tree bark.

But the next moment, he focused his compound eyes on the bug, and identified it.

Blister beetles, also known as leather-winged beetles, have vibrant colorful shells and adult sizes ranging from one to eight centimeters.

The distinctive appearance isn’t the main point, the key is that this type of insect is a herbivore that feeds on tree leaves and tree bark—it’s not a predator at all.

Jia Yan immediately became still.

“Buddy, you won’t mind sharing a pleasant day with me, right?” He looked at the blister beetle, then retreated to a small corner as much as possible so as not to obstruct its view as the primary resident.

After all, this blister beetle he was looking at was over three centimeters long, twice as long as him.

Given its size, its strength would certainly be more than double.

These insects are skilled at boring into the bark of trees, their strength is definitely immeasurable.

If they obstructed it and it decided to drive him off, Jia Yan would have no choice but to leave.

Luckily, the blister beetle didn’t stir.

Instead, as if startled, it retreated deep into the split of the tree bark and remained still.

A mosquito and an insect faced off against each other, neither made a move.

Jia Yan anxiously waited for day to end, but at the outer edge of the forest, in Liangshui Town, there was a new arrival!

A commercial vehicle carrying five members drove into the silent border town from the highway.

The townspeople curiously watched the unfamiliar vehicle as it pulled in.

The town rarely had tourists, and there were only a few vehicles that come and go every day.

The sudden arrival of this unknown vehicle immediately sparked people’s interest.

In a small town with not many residents, life is often like this, a small event could be a topic for the town folks to chat about.

The car door opened, and three men and two women got out one after another.

The driver was a typical Korean, dressed in traditional Korean clothing.

Among the other four, there was one man and one woman who were older, while the rest looked like they were in their early twenties.

The older man who got out of the car looked at the houses in the town, then approached a passerby with a smile on his face.

“Hello, we are wondering if there have been rumors in your village about the discovery of a giant insect?

We are students and faculty from the Life Science Department of Fudang University in Shanghai City, interested in investigating this matter.”

Not far away, a young man and woman from the car stood together.

The man was over 1.8 meters tall, neither fat nor thin, with a somewhat lean face, but he was a handsome student.

He shook his head helplessly at the young woman next to him: “This is just like Instructor Lin, last time she heard about some giant freshwater fish appearing in Ganxi, she rushed over, only to end up with no clues.

I think this is just another rumor, and yet she has also invited you, a media professional, I’m really sorry.”

The young woman responded politely with a smile.

The girl had beautiful long hair, a delicate face with light makeup, she looked pure and innocent, a kind of purity that many city girls have lost.

If Jia Yan were here, he would be surprised to find that this girl was the same one he had given a ride to on his first night back in Shanghai after being reincarnated.

As he recalled, she was being hustled by another girl, and the result was that Jia Yan had sucked the blood of that hustler, indirectly leading to the driver’s act of justice.

It was surprising that the girl, who was supposed to be in Shanghai, had traveled thousands of miles to a place close to Jia Yan.

Ye Tongyu sighed deeply.

Actually, this trip was because her media instructor was friends with Instructor Lin from the Life Science Department.

That resulted in a joint venture to investigate the rumor of a giant insect on the border of Huachao!

Instructor Lin and her male student from the Life Academy conducted an academic investigation, while Ye Tongyu and her instructor took pictures and collected information.

If there really were any news, there would be a more professional record!

Ye Tongyu’s supervisor was the older woman, named Chen, who was liked by the students for her straightforward and quick-witted manners, and was privately called Chen Kuaiyu.

“Anyway, I was just trying to avoid Ting Ting, so I accepted the invitation.

But a trek through the mountains… Can I handle it?” Ye Tongyu looked at the forest scenery outside the small town, and couldn’t help retreating.

She would never know that a small mosquito, which she had crossed paths with in Shanghai a few days ago, and who recognized her but she didn’t recognize, was right now in this large forest!

Jia Yan continued to wait.

During the daytime, life in the forest was clearly more active.

Not only were there birds, but also rabbits, mountain deers and other mammals running around in the forest!

Because Jia Yan’s body was not human, he could see more traces of animals in the forest.

With time passing, the sky gradually darkened…

“This guy is really impressive, he stands so still for such a long time.”

Jia Yan looked at the beetle below, it had been hiding in this tree bark crevice for so long, but hardly moved.

But Jia Yan didn’t have the time to play the game of who’s more still like a wooden man with it!

The sky outside was getting darker.

By the time the sun had completely set and the bird song decreased, and the signs of animals were gradually disappearing.

Jia Yan fluttered his wings!

And flew out from the crevice in the tree bark!

“Since I saw a mutated insect last night, the factory can’t be far.

No matter what, I must find it tonight!”

The black Chinese Anopheles Mosquito buzzed in the sky!

The sight of the millipede was like a shot of adrenaline to Jia Yan!

As long as the former could grow to such a terrifying size, he should surely have a chance to further mutate due to the potion!

The ability to hide from danger, which he had trained in the forest last night, was fully exerted today.

Jia Yan felt more and more at home in the forest at night!

He hid himself in a blind spot whenever he saw a bat flying from afar.

Seeing the narrow gaps between the trees, he would rather take a detour than go through them, because these gaps might have spider webs, and if he got caught again, he couldn’t be sure he would escape a second time!

Feeling at home didn’t mean being invincible, but rather being more cautious about danger.

After all, not everywhere in the forest was there a predator, and as long as Jia Yan was careful, the risk of encountering danger again for a short time would be greatly reduced!

Finally, just when Jia Yan felt that he had circled half of the range of the simple maps…

A speck of light appeared in his visual system!

That was a human structure!

To be continued.
