Jia Yan no longer cared about what was happening on the surface.

He was soaring through the cavern!

The buzzing sound in the confined space seemed exceptionally loud.

Echoes were heard from all around.

“Where does this cavern lead?

How is it that the Northeast Wild Tiger could extract the Black Night Liquid from the boiler through just a crack?”

All of this was still a mystery to Jia Yan.

The cavern he was in was five to six meters high and seven to eight meters wide.

Jia Yan tried to keep his flight at about three meters, which was halfway up the cave, so that he had the best chance to dodge any attack from any direction!

He felt that there must be some secret at the forefront of the cavern.

Otherwise, with the Northeast Wild Tiger’s modest setup, it would not have been possible to extract the Black Night Liquid that allowed it to undergo its third mutation!

Jia Yan had a hunch.

Having undergone three mutations, he must be quite a rare specimen since every mutation had been tremendously challenging!

He even found it odd, how did creatures like centipedes manage to mutate successfully?!

Even with just one mutation, Jia Yan felt it should be hard for most creatures.

If he hadn’t undergone self-training from birth coupled with the tenacity of a human soul, he probably wouldn’t have made it through the first mutation.

How could lower intelligence creatures overcome this hurdle?

“Wait!

I overlooked a detail.

The mutated creatures I have seen are mostly arthropods like centipedes and millipedes.

These creatures are much stronger than mosquitoes!

Could that be the reason?”

Jia Yan cleared his thoughts.

He felt he was right!

Mosquitoes are Diptera insects, and most dipterous organisms are relatively weak.

So far, he has not seen any other mutated mosquitoes apart from himself.

Jia Yan was a unique one.

“Thinking carefully, I haven’t seen any mutated aerial creatures, not just those from Diptera.”

“That’s right, most flying creatures are constitutionally weaker.

Their inability to mutate can be seen as normal.

So, among birds and flying insects, even if there are plenty of accidents, am I likely the only one who has mutated three times?”

Jia Yan was confident about his uniqueness.

After all, his human soul played a significant role in surviving all three mutations.

“But what was that fiery red centipede just now?

Was it also a mutated creature?

It was more than two meters long, which is simply unexplainable.”

In terms of mutation, a regular centipede would need to mutate at least three times in order to grow to over two meters long, otherwise it wouldn’t achieve such size.

Of course, the creatures in the cavern may not explainable by mutation, they could be ancient species that evolved over time and have been surviving here!

Jia Yan continued to fly.

The more he thought about some questions, the clearer they became.

Even regarding this endless cavern, Jia Yan had some hunch!

“If it provides sustenance for such a giant centipede, the forefront of this cavern might not be as it appears now!

Creatures must also be plentiful, otherwise, it wouldn’t be able to provide the necessary food for the centipede!”

Centipedes are carnivorous creatures.

Although they occasionally eat tender leaves and algae, their favorite is still meat.

Jia Yan believes that even if the previous centipede was gigantic, it likely wouldn’t change its dietary habits, so it was probably a carnivore.

For such a massive carnivore, there must be a large food source that allows it to survive; otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible.

So, Jia Yan was sure, there must be a different sight in front of the cavern.

Even, what might unfold before his eyes could be a huge underground world of creatures!

Jia Yan’s compound eyes were filled with intense curiosity.

An unknown complex world, that’s interesting, filling his zoology-loving soul with excitement.

If he were still human, the discovery of such a giant centipede alone would create a world-shaking headline.

Of course, the current situation is even better.

Jia Yan enjoys the feeling of experiencing a secret alone!

He continued flying forward.

Just as Jia Yan flew past a formation of stalactite, under the light of the luminescent moss overhead, a metallic reflection caught his eye from a corner of the cave.

“What’s that?”

Jia Yan flew over.

“Huh?

A helmet, it looks like one a soldier would wear.”

On the ground, a severely rusted metal helmet was reflecting light in the dim ambiance.

Perhaps due to age, half of the helmet was already corroded.

“By the state of decay on this helmet, I guess it must have been here for several decades.

Could it be that humans came here before?

It makes sense, since the Northeast Wild Tiger’s factory is connected to this place.

It would be natural for people to have come down from above.

And judging by the helmet, could it be the military?”

Jia Yan thought of the bullet holes he had seen on the three buildings at the factory site.

In that era of war, anything could have happened.

Even such a significant scientific discovery could have been lost in the river of history for some purpose.

Jia Yan continued to fly forward.

Next, scattered human items appeared one by one in Jia Yan’s eyes.

Most of these were soldiers’ belongings, highly decayed firearms, and ammunition.

Jia Yan even saw several sets of snow-white skeletons!

Eerily white, they were rather terrifying to behold.

“It seems that this wasn’t the work of a couple of soldiers, but an organized operation by a military unit,” Jia Yan observed, somewhat perplexed.

How could there be so many soldier skeletons here?

Could there be some danger he had not yet discovered?

This made him even more vigilant.

After flying forward a bit, he estimated that he had traveled more than two hundred meters inside this cave.

The ceiling of the cave was getting higher, and the space around was getting wider.

Jia Yan felt that the luminescent algae around him were gradually becoming more abundant.

Finally, after he passed a pile of rubble, the world in front of him became wide-open!

As Jia Yan had expected, a new world appeared before his eyes!

But this new world was far more expansive than he had imagined!

The height of the loft space was at least twenty or thirty meters, and the space around was so broad that Jia Yan’s sight could not reach the end!

Not far from him, several underground streams converged into a slow river.

The tops of countless moss plants, glowing like blooming flowers, were growing angrily at the top of the cave, illuminating the space as if it were daylight!

Splash!

Just as Jia Yan was stunned by his surroundings, a sudden splash of water flashed up from the water under him!

A giant fish, about fifty centimeters long, leaped out of the water and shot towards Jia Yan in mid-air.

“What?”

Jia Yan was startled, his wings flapping rapidly to move away from his original position!

The giant fish, which looked like some kind of carp, was simply enormous, easily over fifty centimeters long.

It opened its mouth and took a bite in mid-air where Jia Yan had been!

Luckily, Jia Yan had already vacated the spot.

The giant carp just splashed in the air and landed back in the water, soaking Jia Yan thoroughly.

“It can jump to a height of two meters.

This fish has very strong jumping ability!”

Jia Yan strongly felt that his current height was not enough.

Thankfully, the space above was larger, and he quickly controlled his body to fly upward.

Looking back, he realized that the cave he had emerged from was just one of many in this vast space.

There were several similar caves nearby.

“The true underground world really exists!”

Jia Yan thought back to his times as a human when he had watched countless science fiction movies and related novels and analyses about the underground world.

Those analyses had proven that the underground world could indeed exist, and that there would not be just one!

However, the scale could not possibly be as boundless as depicted in novels and science fiction movies!

This space was clearly one of these underground worlds.

“It’s huge, I estimate at least five kilometers in length and width!

Plus with the small caves connected everywhere, the total area is enormous.”

Jia Yan relied on his vision, enhanced by three mutations, to strain and perceive the glimmers of the luminescent algae in the distance.

He made a rough estimate of the size of this vast space.

Moreover, there were many plants in here.

They did not grow through photosynthesis but used water and the surrounding high concentrations of oxygen.

It seemed that this area has developed its own unique ecosystem after unknown years of evolution!

To Be Continued.

I couldn’t get my mood sorted today, so I published this chapter a little late.

Additionally, another disappointment is that there isn’t a website recommendation slot for next week!

No wonder the editor didn’t sound right when I asked about the scores this morning.

Probably they don’t think it looks good, so they didn’t give a recommendation…

I mean, the book’s collections aren’t too bad either.

After two promotions, it had increased by more than 3,000 collections, totaling over 4,200 collections.

Is it that a newbie must perform like a veteran author, rising by tens of thousands to qualify?

Authors who signed on the same period as me have recommendations for next week despite having slightly worse performance.

I guess this is because I’ve bothered the editor too much, sigh…

Anyway, thanks to ‘ Laughed, Cried, Forgot’ for your strong support and your reward of 1888 Starty Coins.
