Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3848  The Dependable Flying Ship?

The speed of the flying ship was as much as twenty million kilometers per second.

Even then, it took an entire day for Davisʼs flying ship to arrive at the southern border town. The journey was long and exhausting.

One reason was that, other than simply traveling using the speed of the hull, they had to activate the spatial warp mechanism in the flying ship, which caused fatigue to encumber them as the spatial density affected them when passing from one point in space to another.

Due to this, ninety-nine percent of the people in the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace began to sleep longer hours. In any case, food and energy were provided to them, so they were now enjoying camp life while building makeshift shelters for temporary living.

On the other hand, Immortal Emperors werenʼt easily affected by it, but these past few days, ever since they began their journey to the Azure Tree Lower Realm, they have repeatedly used this mechanism to cut short the distance that needs to be traversed.

Otherwise, it would take them more than a month to travel from one border town to the other. Depending on the distance, it could take as much as two or three months on their current ship.

Fortunately, the spatial warp mechanism allowed them to reach the border town faster. The main route was also safe to use the spatial warp mechanism, so they arrived earlier than expected, as it took them more time—around two days to travel from one border town to another in the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm.

Now, it was thanks to Earth Dragon Lower Realm for maintaining the sky routes better than most.

Still, because they had traversed through the spatial tunnels so many times, they were a bit tired.

Nonetheless, they couldnʼt dawdle.

They now headed to a pirate town as Klade caught a person and beat him up in the forests nearby. As they thought, he happened to be a bandit since he was scouting some targets. It allowed them to know the location of the pirate town, so they went there without any hesitation.

Soon, they entered the pirate town, collected information on the Dark-Winged Tiger Lower Realm using groups, and quickly took off. Their actions were swift and concise, as they had already done it before.

They took off into space and activated the propellers.

It boosted their speed by five times. The flying ship that was traversing at twenty million kilometers per second abruptly increased its speed slowly, and within ten seconds, it reached as fast as a hundred million kilometers per second.

The use of spatial warp mechanisms was hindered due to the spaceʼs relative instability, in contrast to the realms with more stable space. If they could use the warp mechanisms, then their travel period would be significantly reduced by under an hour, but that was not possible.

Only Empyrean Grade Hulls were known to achieve such speeds and stability when traversing through space.

Nonetheless, the constant traveling using spatial warp mechanisms in realms and propellers in outside space burned High-Level Transcendent Crystals crazily. If they werenʼt rich in the trillions, they would be crying right now.

Not everyone would be able to afford their travel speed. It may have invited some suspicion in the Earth Dragon Lower Realm, but fortunately, no one came to check.

Within six hours, they reached the Dark-Winged Tiger Lower Realm. This time, they didnʼt face any kind of pirate or disaster heading their way.

At this point, there were less than six days left for the execution to take place. They still needed to pass the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm, the Lightning Kirin Lower Realm, and finally the Azure Tree Lower Realm in order to reach the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm.

Was six days really enough considering it took as much as one and a half to three days to pass a realm in their flying ship?

They crossed the Earth Dragon Lower Realm faster because the routes were safe and mostly unobstructed, the skies were clear, and the winds were favorable, but they knew they couldnʼt count on the same luck for the remaining realms. Time was running out, and they needed to find a way to accelerate their journey if they were going to make it in time for the execution.

However, everyoneʼs expression couldnʼt help but turn somber.

Just as they reached the pirate town, collected information, and left, their flying shipʼs spatial warp mechanism seemed to have broken down from overheating.

ʼTheyʼre damned…ʼ

Mingzhi shook her head.

Despite her efforts, it seemed like they werenʼt going to make it in time. The Dark-Winged Tiger Lower Realm was less secure than the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm. The Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm was even worse, as it was practically a wildland despite some power already ruling there.

Magical beasts there were more wild than the beasts in the Magical Beast Wildlands in the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm, so one wouldnʼt be able to pass easily. Bandits and assassins ran wild there.

As for the Lightning Kirin Lower Realm, it was said that there existed teleportation formations that the three major Kirin Clans used, so they could try to use that to their advantage. However, she didnʼt know if they could gain access or reach there before time.

”Let us see what we can do.”

Sophie and Bylai intervened.

As a forge master, Sophie was adept at creating artifacts and armaments, but when it came to constructs, Bylai was more knowledgeable. The two of them were in the inner hull of the ship, examining the warp mechanism and discussing possible solutions. Despite the urgency of their situation, they remained calm and focused, determined to find a way to repair the mechanism.

”Alright, letʼs do it.”

After some time and consideration, Sophie and Bylai began to work on the ship.

They found what was wrong, as two runes seemed to have been damaged, causing the warp mechanism to malfunction. Bylai suggested a way to reassemble the runes while Sophie started repairing them with her expert inscriptionist fingers.

She had obtained a Forging Table at the Empyrean Grade, and inside that was a scroll that contained more forge techniques and inscriptions. Plus, with the runes they learned from Autarch Metenoa for talismans, Sophie was able to repair the spatial warp mechanism.

”Done!”

She rejoiced and fell down on her ass as she smiled foolishly.

However, her expression quickly sank.

It had taken her five hours to repair it. That may have cost them steeply, wasting five hours since the warp mechanism could only be used every hour. Otherwise, it would die earlier.

Besides, she was angry at herself.

She shouldʼve known the ship would break down from continuous usage and inspected the interior of the ship during space travel. However, she was preoccupied with learning and improving her runic arts from what she got from Autarch Metenoa.

Because of that, five hours were wasted, which means they could have used five spatial warps in that time frame.

”Awesome, Sophie!”

However, Davis rejoiced.

”You are great. I also managed to learn what you were doing. You repaired the fourth of the six spatial transposition rune, which allows the ship to pass through the warp and land safely on the other end, and the eighth of the twelve spatial layer superimposition rune that conjoins the spatlal layers and allows the ship to slip through, allowing it to travel a vast distance, didnʼt you?”

”Yes…”

Sophie uttered. Although she was surprised that he could tell, she looked a bit taken aback as she saw Davis display a smug expression.

Had he really just given up on saving his friends? Where did all that worry he initially displayed go?

It was true that it was highly unlikely that they would arrive on time, but that didnʼt mean he couldnʼt grieve for them. She would gladly lend her shoulders for him to mourn for his friends.

Her gaze flickered with a bit of sadness, and her heart ached for him as she wondered if his Law Heart had already taken a hit.

”Davis…”

She stepped forward and embraced him, pulling his face into her bosom.

”Iʼm sorry~”

She uttered it, her eyes turning moist. She was frustrated that she couldnʼt help him.

”…”

Davis blinked.

He didnʼt know why she would suddenly pull this move and say sorry, so he used his Enigmatic Heart Laws to understand her emotions. Instantly, he could tell what was going on. Although he enjoyed the plushy feeling of her bosoms, he pulled his head back and smiled at her, patting her head.

”Donʼt worry. Even if the ceiling breaks and heaven falls, I wonʼt give up hope, nor will my Will break. Iʼm only regretful that I disturbed the two of your studies.”

”Not a problem~”

Sophie shed a few tears, shaking her head sweetly, before she fell into his embrace and hugged him firmly.

”My Emperor~ Youʼre always dependable, but donʼt hesitate to call and depend on us as well when things like this happen..”

Bylai also looked heartened to hear his confident words before she was also pulled into his embrace. He kissed both of their foreheads and lovingly held them, thanking them for being worried for him and managing to repair the flying shipʼs spatial warp mechanism without much of a fuss.

He told them not to worry and took them back into the Nine-Treasured Immortal Ordeal Palace.
