Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2940 One Among Them

Looking at the reaction of his women, Davis frowned. He turned his head to stare at Isabella, prompting her to answer.

”Yes, Claraʼs doing good. Thereʼs no need to worry.”

Isabella turned her head away as she aligned her hair over her face as though adjusting it.

Davis wasnʼt amused. He could feel the strange air in the atmosphere. However, turning to look at the expressions of others and averting gazes, he finally stopped on Evelynn.

That womanʼs gaze was as calm as a lake, not averting her gaze nor showing a hint of emotion.

He couldnʼt help but smile, knowing that this first wife of his was determined to save him even if it meant losing everything after finding where he was, but before which, she prioritized the lives of her sisters over anything else.

He had nothing but praise for keeping his other beauties safe. They were all quite impulsive when it came to him, after all. If they went somewhere in search of him and got trapped, he didnʼt know what he would do, but Evelynn was there to save him from that terrible fate.

Nonetheless, he knew his women were definitely hiding something and were determined not to let a word about it. Even his impertinent Mingzhi kept her mouth shut, appearing as indifferent as his Evelynn.

”So thatʼs how itʼs going to be. Fine. Schleya…”

Davis turned to look at the place where Schleya stood near the entrance, leaning against a wall, not really making herself comfortable here and neither including herself as one among them as she stayed away from the harem as though knowing her place.

”You tell me what happened.”

”Nothing happened.”

Schleya kept her head lowered, appearing to be nonchalant as she had her arms folded.

Her words caused the gaze of others to be startled, not really expecting her to let out the same voice as them.

”Thatʼs right. Darling, what do you think about Schleya?” Shirley winked at him.

Hearing it, Schleyaʼs heart shook, but her expression remained the same.

However, Davis turned to look elsewhere.

”Yotan, what about you?”

”Me?” Yotanʼs expression was stiff.

She had also attended the meeting for his plans for the future, and everyone knew to depend on her for the familyʼs security as she had proved herself time and time again. Her leadership in handling the Reaper Soul Legion was commendable.

”I think Schleya is extremely dependable. If sheʼs behind me, I know I can have my back to her.”

Yotan smiled as she answered. Her praise caused others to also nod their heads.

”…”

But Davis pursed his lips. Everyone was avoiding answering his question, some even trying to change the topic. Even Schleya and Yotan lied, the latter acting like she heard another question instead of trying to answer his question about Clara.

”Fine, fine. My little sister wonʼt hide anything from me, so Iʼll find out from her later on.”

”…”

Evelynn and the others inwardly grumbled. If they said nothing happened, then nothing happened!

Why was he relentlessly pursuing this matter even though he didnʼt force them to say it, making them feel bad?

However, they still kept their unity among themselves, knowing that it was for his sake.

Even Clara intended to say what had happened, but they stopped her from saying it, telling her that her brother might hate her for it, causing her to become pale. After all, no one harms his women, especially not stabbing them and destroying their dantian.

Clara knew it wasnʼt just an emotion for her brother to protect his women but his way of life as he would go to any lengths to keep them safe, so she heeded their words and decided to enter seclusion.

Evelynn and the others absolutely didnʼt want any friction between this lovely brother and sister. This was for their sake, and Ellia didnʼt mind either, instead telling them to not ever say that she was injured and lost a level of cultivation before enunciating that it was nothing as she easily recovered.

Davis saw that his people werenʼt really saying anything. Too bad that Tia wasnʼt here. Otherwise, he couldʼve bullied her into spitting out everything.

”As for what I think about Schleya, you all know of it in your hearts. I would say the same for Yotan, not to mention they seem one with you all already, so what is left for me to say?”

Davis chuckled before his gaze flickered, ”Oh, look. Itʼs time to go into seclusion.”

He grasped Zestriaʼs hand and waved them goodbye while the others saw his messaging talisman had lit up. Fiora was calling him back. Considering that he had been here for nine hours already, they didnʼt find it strange as almost four days passed in the time chamber, giving Fiora and the others enough time to comprehend annihilative property.

As for why they hadnʼt entered the time chamber to enjoy more time with Davis, it had apparently reached its limit, particularly with a few of them having reached a base prowess at the Immortal Emperor Stage, it could no longer handle them.

The Temporal Speeding Formation could only handle two or three at that level currently, according to Lereza, so they didnʼt overburden it, or else, they may cause it to collapse, causing a backlash to occur that might heavily injure them.

Nonetheless, with Davis leaving the scene, they couldnʼt help but turn to look to see Schleya and Yotanʼs expressions.

Stunned; was the very least they could describe their expressions.

”You finally get to be my sister. Isnʼt that great, Schleya?”

Mingzhi appeared by her side and teased her, causing Schleya to blush heavily before she turned away and left with two words.

”Shut up…”

Meanwhile, Yotan was still in her own world, wondering if he had said what he said. After all, he was unusually indirect in what he conveyed just now, causing her to cry out inwardly, wondering if he got back on her for not saying anything about Clara.

However, she was still anxious, wanting to make it clear but dare not to ask as it might shatter something she had suppressed long ago from pouring out.

She now found it slipping out of her grasp, trying to overwhelm her as she made an expression of longing.

========

A day passed.

Outside, the situation for the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan was getting precarious, with more and more troops surrounding their northern region mainly while also enclosing the other regions.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King was dedicated to defending his clan, going to the frontlines, as he said. His presence on the battlefield instantly bolstered the morale of the Central Primesky Allianceʼs army and made the enemy forces reconsider entering on this second day as their forces were fully yet to assemble.

The Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan also built defensive formations on the frontlines during this time, causing them to clench their teeth in anticipation of the third day. However, seeing that these two impertinent clans sent more forces to aid the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, they finally started pressuring those two clans as they gathered some of their forces near their Prefectures.

This made the Golden Crow Clan and Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan go on high alert and restrict the number of divisions they sent.

With things having come to a consensus as though invisible hands had made their moves across the chess board, the coalition that sought to hunt the Emperor of Death and the Central Primesky Alliance welcomed the third day.

”Kill!”

When the sun rose, a furious battle cry resounded as the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs divisions took to the skies.

At the same time, the heads of the captured generals of the Fire Phoenix Clan were lopped off, and the soldiers were crushed to death by a killing formation designed by the Golden Crow Clan.

”Come~”

The Starlight Jade Wolf King rose to the air, behind him hundreds of Immortal Kings supplying him their energy to fuel the battle formations whose prowess rose to Level Three Immortal Emperor Stage!
