Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2910 Northern Border

The skies tore down, space shuddered, and winds brewed amidst the clash of thousands of immortals on a battlefield.

A huge scarlet bird dominated the skies. However, it was translucent, and many immortals spread their hands and wings, appearing to mimic the huge formation. At the same time, the Immortal King at the head personified its glory as he commanded the entire array connected to him through invisible nodes that made the formation.

There were thousands of such nodes, and each node was occupied by the immortal soldiers, Level One Immortal Kings, to be exact.

They numbered in the thousands, simply staggering all onlookers.

But at the same time, the giant three-legged crow encased within a golden sphere opposite to them was also impressive, causing the heaven and earth to turn hot in the face of its magnificent flames.

”Thatʼs the Fierce Burning Crow Formation. It packs a huge destructive power, even more so than the Soaring Phoenix Retribution Formation.”

”So what? I learned that the Soaring Phoenix Retribution Formation symbolizes renewal, rebirth, and regeneration. It is a powerful Peak Immortal King Grade Formation that doesnʼt lack in any aspect, whether it be speed, offense, or defense, as it is capable of moving swiftly and rising above any adversity of the same level with its incredible might and resilient defense.”

”I also heard that this formation was used back to drive the Blue Luan Clan and Vermilion Bird Clan into despair.”

”Then why are they being pushed back? Isnʼt that the third division of the Fire Phoenix Clan? Their General helming the formation should have a prowess thatʼs three to four levels higher at Level Nine Immortal King Stage, allowing the formation to have a prowess at Level Two Immortal Emperor Stage, but theyʼre still appearing like theyʼre having trouble getting past them. Is there some kind of strategy involved that we donʼt know?”

”Even if there was, what could a brute like you understand?”

”Haha! Most likely, the Fire Phoenix Clan is waiting for us to join as they conserve their strength!”

”You couldnʼt be any right!”

The immortals waiting to join in on the fun excitedly spoke.

They were also here with their armies, but they had yet to form their own battle formations, still waiting for other units to arrive. Once they were here, they knew the city in front of them was bound to fall as the three powers would retreat further inside to maintain their strength or risk annihilation from being barraged from all sides.

*Booom!~*

The giant three-legged golden crowʼs burning intensity caused the skies to distort when it struck the scarlet phoenixʼs blazing flames. Their talons clashed with each other, and their wings flapped, creating ripples across space as cracks appeared everywhere, only to instantly stitch themselves back.

”Kill!”

They seemed to lock each other in place, but the Generals of both formations appeared to be eyeing the other areas carefully.

The other areas in the same region also had their own battles going on, with the forces of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, Golden Crow Clan, and the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan all defending the city against the forces of the Fire Phoenix Clan from multiple directions.

*Boom!~* *Boom!~* *Booom!~*

The other five scarlet phoenixes wildly assaulted the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan and Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clanʼs battle formations. However, despite the continuous assault, the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clanʼs formation was like a rock, not even moving back from the location.

They had their enemies locked down in place as even space encompassed and confined them, disallowing the scarlet phoenixes to move properly.

As for the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs battle formations, they were too fast.

They dodged most of the attacks and counterattacked, but the Soaring Phoenix Retribution was too powerful and regenerative for them and hence, required two divisions to handle them at once.

”Damn it! Weʼre lacking competent Generals.”

”Most of them died in the previous wars. If only General Felix had enough time to grow, then we wouldnʼt be in a passive position...”

The soldiers of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan clenched their fists. They adored their genius General Felix who obtained so many achievements on the border of their clan. He had even been promoted to the rank of General from Vice General as he had successfully entered the Late Immortal King Stage.

However, he was young and didnʼt have enough time to reach Level Nine Immortal King Stage, which disqualified him from commanding a battle formation.

Now, they could only rely on the other Generals, hoping that they would not lose to these miscreants. However, they werenʼt worried too much as they were sending two Divisions to counter one of theirs, so they mused that it wouldnʼt be a problem. But, looking at the foreign forces gathering at the edges of the battlefield, they felt their scalp turn numb.

Soon, their current forces defending this place might not be enough.

The Golden Crow Clan and the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan had only sent three divisions each. Since that was the case, their options were limited, essentially forcing them to retreat if the others started to gang up on them together with the Fire Phoenix Clan.

Never had they felt so furious on a battlefield that they were really starting to think about committing genocide on the other party like the Emperor of Death committed.

After all, wars were one thing, but to target innocents within a power was generally looked down upon. Looking at their savage attacks, they were beginning to think that they might slaughter the people who had failed to escape from this border city if they retreated, making their eyes redden and want to give their all.

”Kill!”

*Rumble!~*

The reserve forces of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan joined the battle, charging into the fray with immense speed.

As the Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs immortals flew forward, the giant jade wolf enveloping them ran swiftly, streaking like the light as it slashed with its claws.

*Puchi!~*

It ripped apart the wings of a scarlet phoenix, causing hundreds of immortals who were over the nod to split blood. However, the Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formation itself didnʼt crumble, even moving to counterattack as though not bothering about the damage.

*Rumble!~*

The heaven and earth shook as the scarlet phoenixʼs flaming talons struck the giant jade wolf, causing it to be sent flying.

However, it seemed to have taken no damage as it used the momentum to retreat. Using that very moment, the two giant jade wolves that were previously engaged with this giant scarlet phoenix displayed their prowess.

*Ripp!~*

Two claws that were thousands of meters long ripped apart the Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formation, causing the thousands of Immortal Kings within to split blood while some even outright exploded into a bloody mess.

”Wha-”

That Fire Phoenix Clanʼs General helming this Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formation appeared dumbfounded by this sudden yet swift attack by three Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs Battle Formations before he came back to himself, roaring with fury.

”Bastards! Iʼll at least take one of you down before I die!”

He screamed, igniting all his blood essence as the entire Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formation suddenly glowed brightly. Even as it was about to collapse, it seemed to glow with the brightest light it released today, burning with nirvanic phoenix flames that threatened to harm the souls of the immortals opposite to them.

However, the two giant jade wolves marking this Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formation were already ready to dodge its attack.

*Vrmmm!~*

But suddenly, the giant jade wolves were held in place by a mysterious power.

It seemed to strike their souls as it came from the distance.

Normally, this attack wouldnʼt mean anything as battle formations were mostly impervious to soul attacks since they contained the might of all souls involved within the formation. Their souls were all strictly tied up in the nodes so as to have coordination. Therefore, when receiving a pure soul attack, the prowess of the attack is generally distributed to the entire division instead of being concentrated on one particular location, as a physical attack would.

Although the battle formation would be capable of rendering physical attacksʼ damage halved for the most part, as they would redistribute the impact to all areas, soul attacks were basically useless if it wasnʼt too powerful.

However, this soul attack was strange and eluding, causing their thoughts to slow down for a single moment, which turned out to be fatal.

*Ripp!~*

A giant jade wolf in the process of dodging had its head ripped apart by the Soaring Phoenix Retribution Battle Formationʼs talons. The Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs General died in an instant, along with a few other Vice Generals who were located around the neck, leaving behind thousands of Level One Immortal Kings or above staring at the scene with shock before their eyes turned red as they screamed out loud.

”General!”

*Whoosh!~*

The other giant jade wolf took them from the scene, retreating at full speed while the Generals of the three powers screamed with fury.

”Cyan Soul Rat Clan!”

Looking at the three giant cyan rats in the distance, they were filled with fury that one of their own alliance members would not only abandon them but also target them when they were being barraged by the Fire Phoenix Clan and possibly many other forces that have yet to descend on them!
