Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2924 Looking Back

In the skies of the Scarlet Blood Domain, Bloodcloud Familyʼs Prefecture, a group of people were traversing the skies, seemingly hidden right under the bright, clear skies.

Davis looked into the distance. It was unknown what he was thinking, but he finally turned to look at Myria.

”Thank you. I owe you yet again.”

However, Myria furrowed her brows at him, seemingly angered.

”Couldnʼt you obediently go to the Divergent Peak while curbing your arrogance and pride?”

”Regardless of my arrogance or fears, I cannot stand by and watch someone or some power target my family.”

Davis turned to look away. Seeing him not looking at her eyes, Myria gently sighed.

She had also heard about the vile and deceiving Blood Soul Contract that had been making the news. Although the world had criticized the Fire Phoenix Clan on moral grounds, what could they do about it?

”Iʼm not talking about the destruction of the cities and the lives lost. Iʼm talking about your own life. Couldnʼt you treasure it more? Do you know how worried you made everyone that Ellia had to come begging me again?”

”…” Davisʼs gaze flickered.

Was she worried about him and using others as an excuse?

However, he furrowed his brows.

”Your words remind me. How did you negotiate with the Blazing Thunderlight Sectʼs Founder? I presume you still arenʼt strong enough to boldly enter her stronghold and talk with her on an equal footing.”

”I first sent my soul body to negotiate.”

”I see.”

Both Davis and Myriaʼs reply was bland, lacking in emotion.

Myria lied while Davis, of course, didnʼt believe she was there alone as he did see another blurry figure.

Just who was that?

”Well, donʼt worry about me. Iʼm fully aware that I committed genocide and accepted that Iʼd turned wicked. However, that doesnʼt change the fact that Iʼm still the same Davis. After all, I did it once before when dealing with the Vast Sky Emperor, so it makes no difference to me.”

”Donʼt be so arrogant.” Myriaʼs brows twitched, ”I watched it happen, and you didnʼt kill a single innocent. The heavens killed them, not stopping at anything to destroy you.”

”Even then, I led the heavens to them. I did that because those Fire Phoenix Clan bastards were running away from me, but it doesnʼt change the fact that I did it intentionally. It is still genocide. Although it is revolting, Iʼll do it again if it means my family could be safe for years to come.”

Myria frowned, ”You arenʼt such a person.”

”Since they claim me to be a source of misfortune and use all kinds of excuses to target me and my family, even the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan I chose to be allied with, Iʼll be one for them. A calamity, that is...”

”You-”

Davis abruptly turned to look at her, ”Myria, Iʼm not playing with words. When I saw my Shirley lose all feelings of trust she had for the Fire Phoenix Clan, disappointed and aghast, not to mention the control they imposed on her autonomy which naturally included Eterna, I snapped. No one tries to mistreat my family and get away with it. Iʼll hunt them down. Iʼll destroy all their nine generations and beyond for targeting my family even if it means that I die.”

”And Iʼll do the same for you if the Blazing Thunderlight Sectʼs Founder approaches you for reviving her, which makes you carry the burden of reviving an Anarchic Divergent.”

”…” Myriaʼs gaze shook.

He could tell that the Blazing Thunderlight Sectʼs Founder asked her to revive her?

Indeed, Davis did see through their so-called deal because he couldnʼt tell what the Blazing Thunderlight Sectʼs Founder would want from Myria other than her ability to revive, which was circulated back in the Aurora Cloud Gate as a rumor and spread to the world.

That was enough to counter the Blazing Thunderlight Sect Founderʼs desires, which was to gain heavenly lightning and heavenly flames from him.

”I understand but donʼt do it. Theyʼre still innocents...” There was a tone of warning behind Myriaʼs voice as she shook her head.

It was as though she would stop him, which made Davis let out a wry chuckle.

”Innocents… why are they innocents when their prosperity is tied to the growth of the Fire Phoenix Clan? Even if they are innocents, do they have the right to live while their power still goes around doing wrongs while they blissfully turn a blind eye to it? Do they still have the right to live at the expense of my familyʼs suffering?”

He smiled crazily, his fists clenching in a fury out of the unfair shield those innocents possessed before his gaze abruptly flickered. He took a deep breath to calm down his rage before he opened his eyes, his gaze serene.

”Sorry, I went too far. However, Iʼve given them a solid reason to hate me. Theyʼre no longer innocent in my eyes. If they take up arms or support the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs so-called glory that stands on top of Shirleyʼs suffering, they deserve the same treatment as the higher-ups of the Fire Phoenix Clan.”

”In that case, thatʼs fine.”

Myria turned to look away. Her heart skipped a beat before as she thought he was really going to commit genocide with his own hands for the sins committed by the higher-ups. However, if those people really did support the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs atrocities for their own greed or even skin, then she really didnʼt have any reason to stop Davis from doing what he needed to do.

”And donʼt you dare use that on her. It would lead to even more of a calamity for us than using it some heavenly genius.”

”I know. We literally cause unstable factors in fate, after all. A sudden emptiness in that unstable region and the entire line might collapse or spread, starting to form anew as it tries to repair itself, which means total havoc.”

”Good.” Myria nodded. Seems like he was starting to understand what fate really was.

”It doesnʼt change the fact that I would do it again.”

Davis responded without a change in tone, causing Myria to close her eyes and clench her fists.

Did she need to tell that he needed everyone else, including the power of the Void Dust Empress, to save him even if he could revive himself with Everlight, which only stood to harm her into a complete disability where she wouldnʼt be able to break through at all with that kind of karmic burden filling her?

”You-”

She was just about to speak as she opened her eyes when she suddenly saw him stare at her, inches closer to her face.

”Iʼm well aware that I wouldnʼt have gotten out easily without you or the other person who seems to not reveal themselves. But Iʼm also aware that my wives flipped the heaven and earth, wanting to find and save me through their own methods. As long as I hold them dear, I learned time and time again that they will not hesitate to use their life for me. It made me feel more satisfied than I could ever imagine. In the same way, I will not hesitate to use my life for you because...”

”… I am deeply in love with you, Myria.”

Davis uttered in a soft tone. His gentle gaze then turned sorrowful as a wry smile filled his face, knowing that she wouldnʼt reciprocate his love as she disappeared, shooting forward at an incredible speed that he couldnʼt hope to catch up.

”Well… Iʼll just try again…”

He lightly smiled as she didnʼt directly spit on his face with those hurtful words that she couldnʼt reciprocate. However, he was determined to know more about her past to fully court her, including the matter Celestial Transcendent informed him about, that she had killed her own father.

On the other hand, Yilla and Deathseeker looked at Davis with wide eyes full of disbelief.

He was courting his powerful mother-in-law, who can revive people? What the hell was going on?
