Chapter 50 -50: Lin Dong’s Intern

Lin Dong became an official doctor that very day!

With a high school diploma like his, being accepted as an exception, he was the first one in many years.

In the hospital, the doctor positions are divided into intern doctor, resident doctor, Hospital Leader, attending doctor, deputy director doctor, and Head Doctor.

Lin Dong skipped the intern stage and became a resident doctor directly.

Afterward, Director Qiao Bing took Lin Dong to get acquainted with the department.

She called over all the doctors and nurses in the department.

“Let me introduce to everyone, this is our new colleague, Lin Dong. He cured Mayor Fang’s disease. Welcome,” Qiao Bing said and then led the applause to welcome Lin Dong’s arrival.

Dozens of doctors and nurses in the department followed suit and clapped along.

“Welcome.”

“So young, and he actually cured Mayor Fang’s disease. Seems he’s quite skilled!”

“…”

The hospital is a place that really values strength; if your medical arts are good, you can naturally earn everyone’s respect.

After Qiao Bing finished the introduction, she assigned him to a group.

And she also gave him an intern to mentor.

“Little Tan, from now on you will follow Doctor Lin Dong,” she said to a female intern.

The female intern approached Lin Dong; she had been staring at him continually just now. Now that she was closer, she finally confirmed Lin Dong’s identity.

“It’s actually you…” Tan Ya covered her mouth, looking disbelieving.

Indeed, this Tan Ya was the intern who had earlier taken Chu Yunxiu to another department for medical treatment.

Chu Yunxiu had already taken her medicine and gone home, and she had returned to the department herself.

Unexpectedly, upon returning, Lin Dong had actually become an official doctor in their department.

Didn’t that aunty say that this guy only had a high school diploma?

This works?

A high school diploma, and he got into their Grade III Hospital!

And within a short while, he became her mentor?

Lin Dong naturally recognized her as well and thought it was quite a coincidence.

Although she was shocked inside, Tan Ya still politely bowed to Lin Dong and said, “Teacher Lin Dong, hello… I will be in your care.”

Lin Dong nodded.

Then, Qiao Bing took Lin Dong to the other sickrooms to familiarize him with the other patients.

Tan Ya and a few other interns started chatting together.

“Tan Ya, your luck is really terrible. I heard that this new doctor they just recruited is a high school graduate, the Barefoot Doctor kind from the countryside! What’s he going to teach you?” one of the accompanying interns, a student under Huang Hua, chimed in sarcastically.

Tan Ya was startled and said in a low voice, “Didn’t the director say he cured Mayor Fang? He must be very strong then!”

“He used Traditional Chinese Medicine to cure him. My teacher said he just got lucky like a blind cat finding a dead mouse. Besides, he’s from a Traditional Chinese Medicine background; how is he going to teach you Western Medicine? Are you going to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine from him now?” said Zhang Yao, the student of Huang Hua, with disdain.

Tan Ya retorted, “As long as it cures the sickness, Traditional Chinese Medicine is fine too, right? Our fundamental duty as doctors is to cure patients, isn’t it? Whatever method works is fine.”

“Are you crazy? It’s not easy to find work in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also, where does it compete with Western Medicine?” Zhang Yao shook her head, filled with disdain for Traditional Chinese Medicine following Huang Hua.

Tan Ya really wanted to argue back, but Zhang Yao had a point.

It’s indeed harder to find a job in Traditional Chinese Medicine than in Western Medicine!

Tan Ya sighed, feeling helpless about the situation.

At that moment, Doctor Thomas hurried over.

“Oh my God, that’s the overseas expert, Doctor Thomas. He’s the instructor of our Neurosurgery Head, Huang Wude, from overseas!” Zhang Yao exclaimed.

That meant he was a sort of grand-mentor to her teacher, Huang Hua.

“Hello, Doctor Thomas…” Zhang Yao greeted Doctor Thomas with her barely passable college-level English.

“Are you Tan Ya?” Doctor Thomas asked excitedly.

Zhang Yao was taken aback and shook her head.

“Then who is Tan Ya?”

Zhang Yao pointed at Tan Ya, filled with confusion.

Doctor Thomas knew Tan Ya?

Doctor Thomas looked towards Tan Ya and said excitedly, “Hello! I heard you’ve become Mr. Lin Dong’s intern?”

“Could you give me your placement?”

“I can exchange it for a student placement at Harvard Medical School!” he offered.

Whoosh~

These words stunned Tan Ya and the other interns like Zhang Yao.

An intern placement in exchange for an opportunity to study abroad at a top medical school.

Isn’t this like a pie falling from the sky?

At that moment, Zhang Yao envied Tan Ya like never before, thinking to herself that Tan Ya was incredibly lucky to have such an opportunity!!

With this exchange, it would be a direct shot to the stars.

While Tan Ya was initially shocked, after thinking it over for a while, she still shook her head and refused, “Sorry, Doctor Thomas. I’m not going to exchange it!”

Doctor Thomas felt a wave of disappointment.

As for Zhang Yao and the other interns, they looked at Tan Ya as if she were a fool.

Was she crazy? To waste such an amazing opportunity?

Did she think learning from Lin Dong was better than studying abroad at Harvard Medical School?
