Chapter 28 -28: I’m Here to Annul the Marriage

Lin Dong stepped out and immediately hailed a cab to head for the Qiao Family.

He quickly arrived at Qiao’s Villa.

In the living room of the villa, sitting at the highest end, was none other than Elder Qiao Guoting of the Qiao Family.

Besides him, there was also a woman dressed in CEO OL attire, exuding a frosty demeanor.

This woman had skin fairer than snow, and her beauty even surpassed that of Sister Bai Jue.

Her figure was impeccably curved. Her long, beautiful legs, wrapped under the short skirt of her OL uniform, were now slanting with not a single gap between them.

This was Qiao Xue, Lin Dong’s prospective partner according to Lin Dong’s Marriage Book, and Jianghai’s number one beauty in the business world.

Qiao Xue’s mother, Chu Yunxiu, was also present and was currently scrutinizing Lin Dong with a frown.

“Lin Dong, you’ve finally arrived. A few days ago, I received a call from your master, Daoist Qingshan, saying you were coming to Jianghai,” Elder Qiao Guoting said with a chuckle while stroking his beard.

“Now that you’re here, let’s not delay any further. You can go and get the marriage certificate with Xiaoxue today.”

As soon as these words were uttered, everyone’s expression drastically changed.

Qiao Xue quickly said, “Grandpa, what era are we living in to still be doing these arranged marriages? I refuse to marry!”

She was unwilling to marry a man who was a complete stranger, even if the command came from the all-powerful Elder of the Qiao Family.

Chu Yunxiu, seated next to her, disdainfully and disapprovingly said:

“I’ve seen his profile too. Only a high school diploma, hasn’t even been to university. Always staying up in the mountains.”

“Such a loser, Elder Qiao, marrying Xiaoxue to him is simply ruining her!”

Lin Dong, who had originally come to break off the engagement, had intended to speak politely. However, he did not expect Qiao Xue’s mother to say something like this.

Directly in front of him, she called him trash.

Dissatisfied, Lin Dong said, “Aunty, this is our first meeting, right? You don’t even know me. I’m not sure on what basis you’re so hastily deeming me a loser?”

“Isn’t it obvious that you’re a loser? You haven’t even been to university. How can someone like you make a stance in the city?”

“You wouldn’t even qualify for a job as our family’s security guard. If you’re not a loser, then what are you?”

Lin Dong was speechless, “Alright, I get it. I see that’s how you judge a person.”

“However, aunty, what I wanted to say is that I’m actually here to break off the engagement!”

“Break off the engagement??!” Lin Dong’s words struck everyone with surprise.

Qiao Xue’s face turned uncertain. She, the foremost beauty and CEO in Jianghai business circles, graduated from a famous university’s Business Administration Department overseas. And yet this countryside boy, without even a university degree, was talking about breaking off the engagement?

On what ground?

If there was going to be a break-off, it should be she, Qiao Xue, to propose it!

Chu Yunxiu was also stunned, then sneered, “Kid, are you trying to make a spectacle of yourself? Intentionally trying to attract our attention, aren’t you?”

“If that’s the case, I must say you’re too naive! We’ll give you five hundred thousand, leave at once. And then announce to the public that it’s because you messed around outside, and our Xiaoxue kicked you to the curb!”

Elder Qiao Guoting glared at his daughter-in-law, Chu Yunxiu, and said sternly, “Shut your mouth, can’t you talk less?”

Hearing Elder Qiao’s reprimand, Chu Yunxiu finally closed her mouth.

As for Elder Qiao Guoting, he turned his gaze towards Lin Dong, and with a kindly expression said:

“Lin Dong, don’t worry, I’ll stand up for you. No one can break this marriage agreement.”

“Elder Qiao, I appreciate your kindness. However, I indeed came here today to break off the engagement. Qiao Xue and I didn’t know each other before, and a melon plucked is not sweet; I think it’s better for both of us to call the marriage off,” Lin Dong said.

“If you’re worried about your family’s reputation, you can announce that Qiao Xue dumped me!”

Lin Dong spoke very sincerely and earnestly, not as if joking.

Nor was he making a spectacle as Chu Yunxiu had suggested.

Seeing this, Elder Qiao sighed.

“Sigh, let it be, let it be. Since you two young people are unwilling to marry, then how can I, an old man, force you to be together…”

Elder Qiao was about to agree to destroy the marriage agreement.

But at this moment, an unexpected voice rang out.

“I disagree with breaking off the engagement!”

This voice once again caused a wave of shock.

Because the person who spoke was none other than Qiao Xue!

Lin Dong was baffled, “Miss Qiao, what do you mean by this? Earlier, the one who disagreed with this marriage was you. Now, just as you wished to break it off, why are you reluctant?”

Qiao Xue looked down at Lin Dong with a cold and haughty gaze, full of superiority.

“I’ve made up my mind to give you half a year to pursue me. If you perform well, I might consider marrying you. But if you cannot catch my eye, then it will be me kicking you to the curb.”

After hearing this, Lin Dong understood; this woman’s pride was too strong.

She wouldn’t allow others to break off an engagement with her, she would only allow herself to break it off with someone else!

Lin Dong felt somewhat displeased and turned to look at Elder Qiao.

“Elder Qiao?”

Lin Dong hoped Elder Qiao would agree to the break-off. However, Elder Qiao let out a laugh and said:

“Lin Dong, I am keen to see you win over Xiaoxue. In half a year, after you get married, hurry up and have babies. By then, our Qiao family will have four generations under one roof. Oh yes, I’ve already thought of what to name your children…”

Lin Dong sighed deeply. Breaking off an engagement was more difficult than he had thought!

Elder Qiao was even more outrageous, already deciding on the names of his and Qiao Xue’s unborn children.

As for Qiao Xue, she was even more domineering.

At this point, she took out her phone and made a call to her secretary.

“Xiao Yu, I have something to announce!”

“State that I, Qiao Xue, am engaged, and the name of my fiancé is Lin Dong!”

The secretary on the other end was completely shocked. The young gentlemen in Jianghai who were pursuing the CEO could line up all the way to the suburbs.

Among them was Young Master Huang of the Huang Family who was pursuing her. Yet now, the CEO was declaring she already had a fiancé.

A fiancé named Lin Dong?

Just who is this Lin Dong and why is he so special!?

Secretary Xiao Yu couldn’t imagine the earthquake it would cause in the Jianghai business circles once it was announced that their CEO was engaged…
