Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Mutual Destruction

Provocation, making the opponent angry, causing them to only use damaging moves for a period of time.

At this moment, the provocation left a hint in emotions and psychology.

Compared to those powerful skills, provocation-type skills can sometimes be even more formidable and insoluble.

In games, even a Caterpie and a Magikarp can harm a Divine Beast, but not in reality. The power of skills can be improved through training; a spark can unleash the might of a Fire Blast.

But this kind of rule-based skill could be termed a divine skill. After the effect of the provocation was unleashed, John felt a blaze of anger rising in his heart.

Originally, he planned to use the Door-Door Fruit’s ability to leave here, then alter the landscape so that the place would be submerged by lake water again, leading to the death of those eyeing his treasure.

Moreover, no one would know John had left alive. His confidants who knew he was an ability user would die here, allowing him to start a new life with his treasure.

But after the provocation took effect, he no longer wanted to do that. The anger in his heart told him only by facing and killing these people could he quell his rage.

Also, Arceus’s provocation wasn’t aimed solely at John, but at everyone except those belonging to the Hundred Beasts.

”Captain, what did you mean by that just now? What’s this about everyone dying here?”

This was a question from one of John’s subordinates. John’s earlier statement didn’t seem to imply he was planning to take them with him but rather to bury them here with him and take the treasure for himself.

Under the influence of ”provocation,” the crew’s anger surged, and their gaze at their captain turned hostile.

A person who wanted to hog the treasure and kill them here was no longer their captain.

In usual times, John would find a way to soothe his subordinates, but at this moment, under the effect of provocation, his violent nature was fully activated.

”What do you mean? The treasure is all mine, and you guys should just die here obediently!”

The effect of provocation differs from person to person; ordinary people would merely give up escape to begin fighting. Used properly, it can even be an adrenaline shot to spur one’s fighting spirit, which barely qualifies as a low-grade version of the Inspire Fruit.

However, for those with a dark heart, deeply hidden emotions, and a lack of self-control, provocation would push them into madness.

John was just that type of person, and now his eyes were completely red with fury.

”Door Slab Avalanche!”

There were no weaklings on Rocks’ ship because infighting on that ship was a common occurrence; weaklings wouldn’t make it past their own crew, let alone encounter other enemies.

To become an officer on Rocks’ ship, John’s strength was evident; after eating the fruit for several years, he had developed it to the point of awakening. Now the entire treasure space was influenced by his ability, allowing him to activate it without direct contact.

The Door-Door Fruit opens doors, but door slabs are part of doors too. Under his control, the rock layers overhead cracked, forming massive slabs that smashed down, initiating indiscriminate attacks.

The pirates, who had started fighting among each other due to Arceus’s ability, suffered heavy casualties under the falling boulders. The few clear-headed ones directed their focus on John.

Though they didn’t know why he had become like this, they realized that without dealing with this madman, they would all perish in this pit.

The volume of the pit under the inland lake at the center of Donut Island was also substantial. The overall shape was like an hourglass, with the lower space larger than the upper one.

The middle was separated by thick rocks; if not for the Door-Door Fruit, the only way in was through a secret passage.

But under John’s ability influence, the passage had completely collapsed. The duration of the high tide was three days, and in three days, the upper section would be filled back with lake water. By then, breaking through the rock would make survival impossible against the water’s onslaught.

Ordinary people couldn’t break through the passage in three days, but they were different. These monsters of the New World had the power to break a gap, but they had to deal with this berserk John first.

Though Silver Axe took a stab to his kidney, his strength was not much diminished. After exchanging a glance with Ochoku, the two simultaneously launched an attack on John.

At the same time, the officers from both sides also acted, and even John’s subordinates, faced with this situation, had abandoned this captain.

Countless attacks targeted John, including those from two CP0 agents, for the treasure had already appeared, and John no longer had any reason to exist.

The appearance of Kaidou also offered them a new balance. As long as John died here, John’s subordinates would likely be temporarily overlooked.

John needed only to inflict enough damage to Silver Axe or Ochoku, and Kaidou in the sky could form a new standoff with them. With a little manipulation, those pirates would all be wiped out here.

Rocks’ treasure, plus the fall of the four Great Pirates, would be an achievement beyond words for them.

Facing the siege from so many powerful figures, John quickly lost and was finally pinned to the ground by Ochoku’s giant sword, nearly splitting in two. Only then did the effects of Arceus’s provocation finally wear off.

Silver Axe was also gravely injured; compared to the intact Ochoku, John’s attacks targeted Silver Axe more. Though there were numerous attackers, there was no coordination, leading even to friendly fire.

Under provocation, another larger-scale internal conflict erupted. Now, few people were left standing.

”John, any last words?”

”Last words? Don’t you know that those who talk too much end up dying?”

Hearing this, Ochoku sensed something was amiss, but it was too late. The ground began to tremble. He hadn’t expected John, in this state, to still have the capability to use his fruit ability.

”No one’s taking my treasure. It’s mine alone! Ground Rising Gate!”

John saw the entire lake surface as a door and manipulated the terrain to descend, which meant the area that originally stood above its surroundings had become a basin, causing the surrounding seawater to begin rolling back.

Moreover, due to previous battles, this area had developed cracks, allowing the outer seawater to begin seeping in!

”You bastard!”

Ochoku ended John, but the seawater continued to seep in. Although the ability user’s death would mean the ability would lose effect, the terrain indirectly damaged would not restore.

John’s ability had already caused the terrain to collapse, killing him couldn’t stop the ongoing developments.

As they pondered their next move, John’s body underwent changes, with several exquisite treasure chests falling out from inside him.
