Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Mistaken Identity

Listening to the voice of all things, with an enormous range of perception, using abilities to read minds, foreseeing the future, depending on one’s mastery of Observation Haki and personal strength, what one can achieve differs greatly.

Some of these abilities come from development, and some from talent.

Compared to the abilities mentioned above, Observation Haki has even more terrifying capabilities.

This kind of Observation Haki can sense the target’s psychological changes and emotional thoughts, experience others’ joys and sorrows, and even transmit one’s consciousness into the other person’s mind.

It can influence the target’s mind with its own thoughts and create strong resonance in thought, subtly brainwashing and changing the other’s values.

However, this highest level of Observation Haki is innate and cannot be improved through subsequent training. People with this highest level of Observation Haki are more rare than those with Supreme King Haki.

Besides Fishman Island’s Princess Otohime in the future, no one else possesses similar ability.

Kaidou’s Observation Haki doesn’t have so many special abilities, but the basic enhancement of perception is still very proficient.

”In that case, let’s find a place to land first.”

In Arceus’s view, although this John is full of doubts, even if he’s fake, he probably has some connection to the real John. Something useful could be extracted from him, but Kaidou did not choose this method.

He thought it was meaningless to waste time with a fake.

”No, it’s too troublesome. There’s the simplest way to know if this guy is the real John.”

As he spoke, Kaidou opened his mouth wide, and the scorching energy began to gather.

”Hot Breath!”

Scorching Dragon Flame spewed out, targeting John directly below.

If John were real, being a former officer on the Rocks Pirate Ship, this attack wouldn’t easily succeed. He would definitely have a way to counter it.

If he’s fake, unable to withstand the attack, then he deserves it. There’s a hefty price to pay for impersonating someone else.

Kaidou certainly doesn’t care about others; even his own people sometimes get caught in the crossfire, let alone those unrelated to him.

The scorching Dragon Breath swept down, and the pirates near John suffered misfortune, turned to charred remains by the flames, and no one stopped Kaidou’s actions. Queen had neither the capability nor the desire to stop it; he couldn’t care less about these people’s lives.

King and Shaina maintained an indifferent attitude. In their flight, their enemies were not just the World Government.

Navy, pirates, bounty hunters, even ordinary people could be their enemies. Their hearts, hardened by the world’s trials, became indifferent to matters unrelated to the Lunarians Race.

Arceus could stop Kaidou, but he had no reason to do so. The influence of Arceus allowed him to watch such things calmly, and not even his human heart wanted to stop Kaidou.

The situation within the Navy Base was not much better. The people of Kachira Island suffered greatly in this turmoil. Although his identity was an ally of pirates, it didn’t mean he had to degrade himself to such scum.

”What is that?!”

Kaidou’s Hot Breath caught everyone’s attention, the clouds parted, and Kaidou’s massive figure appeared in the sky. His main target had been John, but it had also claimed the lives of nearly a hundred nearby.

The still-burning bodies undoubtedly spread fear among the crowd.

Originally, they wanted to get closer to John, hoping to become familiar, but now they only wanted to leave this place of trouble.

The crowd became chaotic, but a roar calmed them down again.

”Who the hell dared to ambush me?!”

John is still alive, the flames not yet extinguished, but John’s voice echoed from the smoke.

”Yes, we have Captain John, Captain John is still alive! We still have Captain John! He’s a Great Pirate with a bounty of twenty-one billion Belly!”

”Captain John, show that monster dragon your might!”

On the Grand Line, Devil Fruit Ability Users are common, and most who mingle there know the power of Devil Fruits.

But here in the South Sea, some pirates may never have left the vicinity of their birth island in their entire lives, much less heard of the legendary Devil Fruit.

To some, Kaidou’s dragon is merely a monster, making their Captain John their dragon-slaying hero.

Some people kept fleeing, but more stopped, chanting John’s name.

John saw the attacker, Kaidou, flying in the sky, his eyes narrowing as thick sweat dripped from his forehead.

”Annoying, annoying, ants should have the awareness of ants!” Kaidou seemed provoked by the crowd’s shouts, and Supreme King Haki swept across the entire Navy Branch.

Whether those nobodies, or those whom the pirate earlier mentioned with bounties over ten million, under the baptism of Kaidou’s Supreme King Haki, collapsed like wheat, covering half of the military ground with foaming, white-eyed pirates.

Only those who never stopped fleeing were somewhat conscious, but their faces were filled with confusion and bewilderment, not knowing what was happening.

Arceus jumped off Kaidou’s flame cloud; his physique was decent, and as Kaidou released Haki, he lowered his altitude, leaving nothing but a big pit on the ground without other effects.

”Where’s the real Captain John?”

He could smell the fear on the other, which meant he couldn’t possibly be the notorious John.

Although John’s high bounty was linked to his conduct, his strength was also formidable, having been a cadre on the Rocks Pirate Ship five years ago.

The attack from Kaidou earlier was merely playful; someone who couldn’t withstand such an attack couldn’t be John. Arceus just wanted to know the connection between this John and the real John.

”What are you talking about? I am John! Just a mere ability user, don’t get too arrogant!”

To John, this talking creature was just a Zoan Fruit Ability User, and at this point, Kaidou had already transformed back into his human form and landed.

”Do you still remember me, John?”

”Kaidou! Long time no see, old friend; why show up like this...”

This ’old friend’ left Kaidou’s face completely darkened; while there indeed were friends on the Rocks Pirate Ship, his relationship with John was certainly not one of them.

This meant they had found the wrong person.
