Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: I Only Made Him Experience What I Went Through

”Lord Sacred Beast, Brother Kaidou, we’ve found out that guy’s identity. He’s this year’s Super Rookie, with a bounty of 200 million Belly, the Death Drama - Purilite.”

The simplest way to confirm a pirate’s identity is to search through the Navy’s wanted posters. There are usually booklets on warships that specifically record information on wanted individuals, all listing the bounty criminals of recent years.

This information was provided by Kaidou. When they boarded the ship, they weren’t very familiar with the Navy’s patrol ship. Just as Queen was still exploring the structure, Kaidou had already accurately mentioned the location of every compartment on the ship.

The holding room, the ammunition depot, especially the location of the kitchen, he knew it all like the back of his hand.

As for the reason, he’s been on this kind of ship several times before and was already familiar with the structure. This kind of ship was Kaidou’s favorite back in the day — ample meals and weak people. Pretend to get caught, eat your fill, and then leave, like a top-notch buffet.

That booklet was something he stumbled upon when he was previously captured, so he simply retrieved it directly.

Purilite’s abilities are not simple, and he even possesses basic Haki, unlike an average person, which is why King continuously searched through the wanted posters and eventually found the target.

At this time, Queen was steering outside, Shaina was preparing food in the ship’s kitchen, while King and Arceus were outside the holding room. When Purilite awoke, the sound of chains rattling reached their ears.

”This guy’s awake. He should know quite a lot.”

Kaidou kicked open the door of the holding room, with the last ray of sunlight on the horizon piercing into the ship’s cabin, reflecting off his bandage-covered face.

Kaidou didn’t hold back, and after that, he directly dragged him onto the ship; being disfigured was the result of his strong vitality.

”Tell me, where is John!”

Kaidou’s Wolf Fang Club struck the floor, creating a deep pit, with flying splinters even hitting King’s face.

”Kaidou, be careful not to damage the ship.”

”Don’t worry, there’s plenty of these ships out there. We can just snatch another one if need be.”

Faced with Kaidou’s interrogation, Purilite didn’t answer but instead threatened Kaidou.

”Bastards, you bastards! I’m a newcomer valued by Captain John! When Captain John comes looking, he won’t let you off! Kaidou, I know you, you’re just an intern! You can’t possibly be a match for Captain John!”

”You don’t seem to understand the situation.”

Seeing the still arrogant Purilite, Kaidou decided to let him understand his situation. Just as he was about to let him experience the touch of the Wolf Fang Club, King intervened to stop Kaidou.

”King, what are you doing?”

”Brother Kaidou, leave him to me. I have a way to make him talk.”

Somehow, from King’s eyes, Arceus sensed something was off. Following King’s request, Kaidou and Arceus left the holding room.

The sun sank into The Sea, the light of the sun faded into silence. Queen dropped the anchor and stopped the ship. This area was full of reefs, and it was easy to damage the ship at night. When he left the steering room to find something to eat, he noticed the screams coming from below the deck.

And he saw Kaidou with an amused expression on his face.

”That was the scream of that guy, right? What’s happening?”

”King is interrogating him.”

Kaidou replied nonchalantly. In his view, it was nothing substantial. After some time, the sounds continued from horrific to faint, and eventually became barely audible. King opened the door and walked out.

”Lord Sacred Beast, he’s willing to talk now. If you have any questions, you can go ahead and ask. I need to leave for a moment.” King wiped the blood off his hands and then left the cabin, heading towards the deck.

Before leaving, he gave Queen a look that carried a hint of malice.

”Wow, is King a psychopath or something? Brother Kaidou, you might want to watch out for him in the future.” Queen poked his head in to take a look and even he, who was accustomed to various experiments, could only describe Purilite as miserable.

Broken and warped arms, a charred face, stones piercing his shoulder blades, and bloodstains everywhere, these all described what happened before.

”But this kid’s methods are really something, avoiding lethal spots, leaving only dreadful but non-fatal wounds.” Human modification requires familiarity with every part, so Queen immediately understood what King had done.

”Queen, treat him. You and Kaidou go ahead and ask. I’ll come back later to see if you missed anything.”

”What are you going to do? Lord Arceus?”

Queen wasn’t a Lunarian, so he found the term ”Lord Sacred Beast” strange. In fact, Arceus had told King and Shaina they could call him by name, but they refused. Queen, however, was different; he intended to call him ’bro’ like he did Kaidou.

But doing so would have earned him dangerous looks from Shaina and King, so he opted for respectful titles like ’Lord’ or ’Mister’ with his name.

”I’m going to check on King. Something’s off with him.” Recording a statement is something anyone can do, so having Kaidou ask is more convenient since he’s more familiar with John’s information.

However, King and Shaina are his closest subordinates, and he cares more about their situation. If not for his currently incomplete strength and concerns about consumption, he could give them better abilities, but that will have to wait for the future.

On the deck, King leaned on the railing, looking into the distance, lost in thought.

”Abel, you have something on your mind.”

”I don’t, Lord Sacred Beast, you’re overthinking.”

”Your emotions are written all over your face. There’s no outsider here; bottling things up is of no benefit. Speaking out can be a relief, but if you really don’t want to talk, then let it be.”

”......” King fell silent. After a long pause, he finally spoke.

”Lord Sacred Beast, you know, I never really knew how to interrogate.”

”Then what were you doing just now?”

”I was just replicating things that the researchers did to me back in the lab.” Breaking bones to test recovery speed, draining blood to test blood regeneration rate, injecting unknown substances to test effects and resistance to poison.

Testing endurance against cold, heat, dehydration, and harsh environments — these were all things the younger King experienced in the research lab.

These were things buried in his heart, often pondered alone, but when the topic arose, he couldn’t stop talking. To King at this moment, Arceus wasn’t just a Sacred Object worshiped by the Lunarians Race, but also an elder to whom he could confide.

These sounded like complaints, and he felt it inappropriate to tell the Sacred Beast such matters. But on The Sea, he couldn’t find any other familiar elder.
