Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 488: A Turn of Events Brought by a Great Fire

At this moment, the more Lucianne pushed forward, the more nervous she became.

Not long ago, they had received a resupply of materials from a resource point, obtaining quite a few alchemical items with terrifying destructive power, as well as a considerable number of potions and other things.

But the most crucial supply among them was actually the most inconspicuous... seasonings.

That’s right, water resources from the resource points could be continuously obtained, but food... After confirming that the flesh of those monsters was safe to eat, it became a stable food source.

Everyone loves an outdoor barbecue in the wild.

If there were a few individuals who were not quite accepting of eating such monsters... then they’d have to fend for themselves.

The food at the resource points wasn’t there to accommodate the pampered.

Lucianne wouldn’t coddle them.

After all, she was a former student of the Wizard Academy and had a high tolerance for many things, like the Sorcery Gu Life Worm from before.

Many of the wizards’ methods were inherently disgusting and challenged the limits of physiology and cognition, so it was no problem to call powerful wizards madmen.

Therefore, Lucianne naturally had no aversion to this meat and even found the texture and taste quite good.

A little salt made it a superb delicacy.

Because their food now came from this meat, there was another problem holding them back: how to cook it.

Not everyone had the skill for just grilling, and without seasonings, the grilled meat was equally hard to swallow.

And this batch of supplies included a large amount of seasonings, and even many other condiments like honey.

If Lucianne were to ask the Shadow of Knowledge beside her, she would know that in this resource grab, I had indeed swept up a large batch of seasonings, leaving only a symbolic amount for the other academies.

At this moment, Lucianne looked at the information on her phone.

It was impossible for her to lead a large group of people through this jungle like this; it was unrealistic.

It was more practical to split into small groups of four or five.

Before officially making contact with the Holy Angel Academy, each small group would primarily focus on freely hunting monsters to gain score points.

Finding and occupying resource points became a matter of chance.

On their journey here, they had already occupied four resource points, a number that astonished her.

But with precise coordinate guidance, Lucianne understood that it wasn’t difficult to find these resource points by following the flow.

For the score point distribution in the resource points she found, she also only chose to take the larger share.

The few who were willing to follow her even wanted to give her all the score points, but Lucianne refused.

These followers could do without, but Lucianne knew very well that she couldn’t not give.

It was a very simple principle.

At noon, after a not-so-appetizing lunch, Lucianne chose to continue forward.

Her goal was the fifth resource point.

But the more she did so, the more nervous she became.

In the communication group chat they had established, some squads had already made contact with squads from the Holy Angel Academy.

This meant that it wouldn’t be long before they would have a direct confrontation with the Holy Angel Academy.

”Start the fire. In this resource supply, I deliberately provided you with some pretty good accelerants, as well as large-area burning alchemical items.”

”Now?”

Lucianne blurted out, then immediately realized her mistake and quickly corrected herself.

”We have our work cut out for us now.”

Actually, Lucianne was just a little surprised that the other party had made such a decisive choice, especially since they had just encountered those bird-men.

”Sis, what is it? Is there another special operation? Or are you telling us to go provide support?”

Lucianne’s most loyal follower stepped forward and asked.

”Implement the forest fire plan now,” Lucianne said immediately.

”Eh? So soon? If a big fire starts, it will affect the several resource points we currently occupy!”

”So we’re setting the fire according to a plan. Everyone saw the information in the group just now. We’ve run into the bird-men, which indicates that their main force has likely landed from here as well.”

Lucianne took out a prepared map, circled a place, and began to explain, ”Those bird-men are like cockroaches. For our scattered exploration teams to run into them like this, then... this area has a high probability of already being occupied by them. Pushing forward will only lead to a head-on collision. It’s better to just burn it all down.”

”But I remember that the island next to us on this side was the Elves, right? How did we end up running into the Angels?”

”The Angels have a great innate advantage. They probably entered the main island first while we were resting last night. Logically, this area should be the Elves’ landing point. For the bird-men to penetrate this far, then with this as the radius, in the worst-case scenario, we could encounter those guys anywhere in this region.”

Lucianne also explained a bit for this.

As long as it made sense, that was enough.

Now she just needed to ask if they would do it, and if most people agreed, then it was settled.

And unexpectedly... this matter went very smoothly.

After asking in the group, almost every small team responded positively.

Only a few of the more rational ones asked curiously if burning down the forest would be investigated by the academy.

After all, they were well aware that the Bobapus Archipelago they were in was a very famous scenic spot.

They wondered if such wanton destruction of the environment here would have an impact.

Lucianne did not respond to these objections.

Not to mention that Lucianne had long since obtained information that they were within a ”domain” of the Wizard Academy called the Grand Sorcery of the False World Space, where even death was false.

Even if it were real, they had been burning, killing, and plundering all along, and no one had said anything.

At the same time, Lucianne also contacted the free-roaming groups on the other side and sent them information about the Holy Angel Academy’s tracks to be careful.

The rest was up to them to fend for themselves.

”Come on, I will mark the areas to ignite the forest fire. You take the accelerant supplies from this resource point and go give those bird-men a surprise.”

Lucianne announced, but she did not go with them.

She needed to send this command in the group in a way that others could understand.

Don’t think that issuing commands is a simple matter.

If you don’t teach them some things in meticulous detail, you can believe that someone in the group will even ask why a tree has been burning for so long but still hasn’t caught fire.

Although the act of igniting a forest fire seemed to reignite that grand feat in the hearts of all the prospective witches, every prospective witch wanted to recreate such a miracle, using a forest fire to force a complete turnaround and suppression of many academies.

The idea was good, but they ultimately could not replicate that miracle.

This time, the Holy Angels were not the Elves who needed to guard the World Tree, and they had no reason they couldn’t leave.

A single fire alone could not threaten anyone.

Only Lucianne was the first to understand that the true purpose of this spreading wall of fire was to protect themselves.

But these Witch Academy candidates seemed to have a very enthusiastic idea about setting fire to the mountain.

That idea of stirring up trouble and looking for fun was reflected in their every choice.

As for the consequences... most people hadn’t thought about it.

After all, so many people were setting the fire together.

If they were all to be publicly criticized in the end, there would still be so many sisters to accompany them, so what was there to be afraid of?

Besides, the rules of this joint exam didn’t say that the terrain couldn’t be changed, nor did it say that you couldn’t set fire to the mountain...

Time passed quickly, and the first day of the joint exam was almost over.

In the direction where the sun was gradually setting, the evening glow dyed the sky red, while on the other side, the mountain fire reflected on the surface of the sea, as if inheriting the afterglow of the sun to continue illuminating the night sky.

The mountain fire started slowly, but once it did, it was terrifying.

The rolling mountain fire was guided by human hands, the flames illuminating the sky, and the thick smoke and flames became the main theme of the moment.

Such a man-made disaster immediately caused the surrounding monsters to flee in droves, seeking advantage and avoiding harm.

Small waves of beast tides continuously spread outwards, and Lucianne and her group, who had already learned of this news, did their best to avoid the impact of these monsters.

Lucianne led those who could use fire-type spells through the edge of the flames, guiding the spread of the fire.

And this was the first time Lucianne and her group had a direct confrontation with the candidates from the Holy Angel Academy.

The small beast tide caused by the fire also had a considerable impact on those Holy Angels.

And upon seeing that the culprits behind all this were the witches, they didn’t even feel surprised.

After all, in their impression... these witches had a prior record!

But this didn’t stop them from cursing these witches for their lack of quality, accusing them of starting a mountain fire in reality and warning them to be careful of serving a long prison sentence.

But Lucianne naturally wouldn’t be broken by these words.

Cognition determines one’s level.

When she learned that she was not in reality but in a false world, and that even if she died, she would only be eliminated without harm and returned to her own academy’s location, she no longer had anything to fear.

I was also watching this great fire.

Not just me, but also the teaching assistants from many academies.

The Preaching Angel of the Holy Angel Academy, the Mother God’s Guard of Aphrodite Academy, the Wave-riders of the Sea Race... and even the Little Beast King of the Beast Academy...

Such a commotion was indeed too fierce, and it unconsciously reminded people of the multi-school joint dream state exchange competition that took place at the Witch Academy at the beginning of the school year.

That fire suppressed almost all the Beast Academy and Elves.

I watched the trend of destiny and found that this great fire had burned Lucianne’s destiny to the point where it held the upper hand.

A variable had also moved away from Lucianne’s direction.

This great fire forced the elves of Aphrodite Academy to recall some not-so-good memories, and it also made them change their course and seek another place earlier.

When the thick smoke from the forest fire appeared in the afternoon, the elves floating on the surface of the sea noticed that something was wrong.

Coupled with the hints from the Mother God’s Guard, they understood that if they landed according to their original plan, they would probably run into trouble there.

And this change of plan also had a trace of my influence in it.

At this moment, I looked at the changes in destiny.

Although I had already severed the Earth Vein Chains, as long as we were still in the Main World, my own influence would also stir a portion of destiny.

Sure enough, the battlefield situation is ever-changing...

It was as if those people from Aphrodite Academy didn’t know that I was no longer a student.

This great fire made them misjudge that there was someone here they couldn’t afford to provoke.

It wasn’t that they weren’t confident in defeating the other party, but that the other party, with a single move, could eliminate too many of their ordinary students.

As long as they wanted to consider the overall situation, they couldn’t let such an accident happen.

The members of the Mother God’s Guard did not refute this choice made by the Aphrodite Academy candidates.

Although they also really wanted to tell these candidates that the person they were afraid of was no longer a candidate, but thinking that that person had become a teaching assistant... the power of intervention she could exert seemed even more terrifying than that of a candidate, so the elves of the Mother God’s Guard tacitly approved of this plan.

So... they prepared to take a detour.

The sea vessels they had spent so much effort to build could not support them for long-distance voyages, so they had to make a choice.

Under the suggestion of the Mother God’s Guard, they chose to cut in from the southeast side of the main island.

Because the Mother God’s Guard had long since figured out the situation there.

There was only one group of Witch Academy candidates stationed at three resource points, suppressing the landing of the Beast Academy.

Now those Beast Academy guys were floating on the sea in a very awkward position, but they seemed to have met the Sea Race and had the intention of joining forces.

Now, with the addition of their Aphrodite Academy’s forces joining in here, how could just one group of Witch Academy members stop them?

Moreover, they were planning to launch a surprise attack at night.

Night was the best camouflage.

As long as they broke through to the main island, the three parties joining forces could instantly take over the place occupied by this group from the Witch Academy and push forward.

At this moment, on Ninglan Qiuyue’s side.

”Let go, no need to get bogged down in fighting. Replenish your water supply and abandon the resource point.”

As a voice that only Ninglan Qiuyue could hear came, this sentence instantly stunned her.

But she quickly suppressed the urge to ask questions, though the confusion on her face was self-evident.

”Sister Qiuyue, what’s wrong with you all of a sudden?”

Seeing this change in Ninglan Qiuyue’s expression, it naturally caught the attention of her followers.

”Something’s not right,” Ninglan Qiuyue said hesitantly, her phone constantly refreshing the information in the group chat, as if looking for an excuse for the current anomaly.

At this moment, the Shadow of Knowledge under my control spoke again, analyzing the current situation for Ninglan Qiuyue.

”Lucianne’s side started a mountain fire, which triggered the Forest Elves from Aphrodite. You know the situation on your side. Those Beast Academy guys have been exhausted by you, but the Sea Race has provided them with help. Their first joint effort almost caused you to lose your position. What if you add those Elves for a three-way alliance?”

”Three... hmm...”

Ninglan Qiuyue instantly realized the seriousness of the situation, but she also quickly calmed down.

”Retreat. There’s nothing to be regretful about. But even if we’re leaving, let’s leave them a little surprise. For example... a minefield. I remember you still have some unused alchemical items you brought, right?”

”Don’t think about engaging them. The forest area is the home ground of the Elf Rangers. Don’t think about fighting a guerrilla war to probe for information either. I will provide you with information. And don’t think about copying Lucianne’s mountain fire plan. This place isn’t far from the sea, and there isn’t a significant difference in elevation. The Sea Race can easily use seawater to extinguish the fire. Besides, it takes time for a mountain fire to start, and that’s enough time for them to react.”
