Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 470: The Information Asymmetry Between Teaching Assistants and Candidates

“After arriving at the Bobapus Archipelago, we will be required to participate in the maintenance duties for the so-called Grand Sorcery of the False World Space. After all, there will be many tourists on the Bobapus Archipelago during the joint exam. If any accident causes Transcendent power to affect ordinary people, that would be unfortunate. The resulting commotions and troubles also need you all to resolve.”

“That all sounds like trivial matters. But is such an important Sorcery of the Wizard Academy openly maintained by us?”

Listening to Big Sis Bai, I felt that these matters were somewhat troublesome, but I also had many questions.

“Do you think knowledge of this Sorcery is very precious? Many Academic Witches in the academy don’t even need to see the Sorcery’s structure and the accompanying Wizard Tools. They only need to understand its function to create a Spellbook with a similar effect. The reason for using the Wizard Academy’s Sorcery is that previous joint exams of this nature were all hosted by the Wizard Academy.”

“I see…”

I nodded.

“Then what is the Witch Academy contributing during this time?”

“We are contributing the candidates.”

Big Sis Bai said with a smile.

“Hmm?”

“Is there any contribution more important than providing high-quality candidates for the joint exam? If I had to say what else we contribute… mhm, it would be the Earth Vein Live Streaming and the screen relay authority.”

Saying this, Big Sis Bai thought for a moment and organized her words before continuing.

“Our Witch Academy possesses the most excellent methods for utilizing Earth Vein Information. It is precisely because we have this capability that there is no need for a war correspondent for live video during the joint exam. This Earth Vein real-time video broadcast technology with adjustable viewpoints is just like the live broadcast during the Dream State Exchange Competition. That also utilized the power of the Dream State’s Earth Vein.”

“That formidable?”

My eyes widened.

I hadn’t realized this often-overlooked capability of the Witch Academy was so powerful?

But… thinking about it, that makes sense.

Even I, who haven’t advanced to Transcendent status, can touch the domain of Earth Vein Energy.

It goes without saying for the Transcendent Witches.

Although I can utilize Earth Vein Information now, if I wanted to achieve this kind of large-scale, real-time video broadcasting, the Appraisal Spell of the Tree of Knowledge is certainly not capable of it now.

Perhaps I could achieve it later by developing a related ability, but definitely not now.

Indeed, the methods of Transcendent Witches are powerful.

Compared to that… doesn’t my Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell seem a little ordinary?

“Of course. But this large-scale Earth Vein video extraction requires a smooth Earth Vein environment. This requires people who have researched Earth Vein Energy to maintain it during emergencies, otherwise, the video feed in certain areas might be lost.”

Big Sis Bai nodded confidently but also pointed out the problem with this technology.

“Oh Live broadcast network Safety Officers!”

“Haha, something like that. But this is a double test of both physical capability and technique. It’s not something a general person can undertake. Generally, you can forget about it being done by a Teaching Assistant. The only things a Teaching Assistant can help with are generally some trivial matters: material drops, and being responsible for guiding and escorting eliminated students.”

“Escorting eliminated students? Right, I haven’t learned about the student elimination mechanism yet.”

“Student elimination means dying within the space of the False World Space Sorcery. The physical body will be rejected from the Sorcery effect and return to reality.”

“So, in reality, there is no risk of death in this joint exam, right?”

I asked.

It felt similar to the effect of the Primal Dream State, except this was achieved in the real world, though the freedom certainly couldn’t compare to a place like the Dream State, which can be manipulated at will.

“Yes, but this fact is currently not being revealed to the students. Furthermore, the announcement for this joint exam states that there is an extreme risk of death.”

Saying this, Big Sis Bai smiled playfully.

Even I couldn’t help but laugh.

Good, good.

So, this is how they’re playing it, huh?

“Wait! That’s not right! Since this joint exam has happened before, the Wizard Academy and other academies should know about this!”

I immediately reacted.

“That only applies to previous students. If those students can find out about this from former seniors, then that is their own capability. It falls within the scope of the rules. Moreover, the joint exam rules do not explicitly state this fact. Do you think students would risk their lives on a guess?”

“I guess you’re right…”

I nodded, feeling a little tempted.

It seemed that participating in this joint exam might not be so bad after all.

“Oh! I forgot to mention one more thing,” Big Sis Bai suddenly recalled.

“What else?”

“This trip to the Bobapus Archipelago is also a kind of public-funded vacation. The teachers and Teaching Assistants participating in this joint exam can enjoy a holiday there. After all, the Bobapus Archipelago is a tourist destination, and it conveniently connects with the subsequent semester break.”

“Really? Then… then are you going too, Big Sis Bai?”

I asked excitedly.

If I could travel with Big Sis Bai, it wouldn’t matter where it was!

And the Bobapus Archipelago—the name itself suggested beaches, oceans, beautiful women, and bikinis for Big Sis Bai… Cough! I felt a little surge of blood! If Big Sis Bai wore that…

“Me? I’m naturally going too.”

Being asked this, Big Sis Bai seemed to realize her responsibility.

A sharp aura flashed and vanished as if it were an illusion.

She quickly changed the subject.

“Little Han, were you just thinking about something inappropriate for children?”

“No! No!”

I quickly waved my hand, indicating I wasn’t fantasizing about Big Sis Bai wearing a bikini and cuddling with me on the beach.

“Really?”

Big Sis Bai’s hand rested on my waist, rubbing against the thin fabric of my clothes.

“Hiss Really!”

Feeling the stimulation of the fabric against the soft flesh of my waist, the pain from the ointment also kicked in, forcing me to control my body’s perception.

“Um, Big Sis Bai, if you are going too, what are you going to do? Surely… there won’t be any accidents during this joint exam, will there?”

“Mhm, there will be a few small surprises during this joint exam, and some force will be needed to deter them, to prevent the surprises from turning into shocks.”

Big Sis Bai admitted generously, then removed her hand from my waist, but not before giving a final, satisfying squeeze to the soft flesh of my waist.

“I’m really not surprised by that.”

I ignored Big Sis Bai’s teasing behavior.

I wasn’t sure if I was referring to the so-called small surprise or her taking advantage of me, but perhaps both.

She had already taken advantage of me when applying the ointment earlier…

Afterward, Big Sis Bai explained the specifics of other matters, and she immediately had me open the Academy System to submit an application.

After my Teaching Assistant status was recognized by the academy, my Academy System was also updated, automatically recognizing my status as a Teaching Assistant.

To participate and contribute to this joint inter-academy exam, an application is required.

The application needs to detail one’s abilities to determine the allocation of tasks.

After all, this assessment area involves islands, land, sea surface, seabed, reefs, and other diverse terrains, so the more people responsible, the better.

Similarly, this is also to guard against minor actions by other academies.

One should not underestimate the other parties.

This joint exam will involve almost all Children of Destiny.

I find it hard to believe the Script is not involved.

And the small surprise Big Sis Bai just revealed is likely a part of the Script’s arrangement.

It is normal for minor tricks to be played in the Contention for Destiny.

So, Big Sis Bai continuously stressed the need for me to be cautious.

If I encounter a Transcendent from another academy performing minor actions, I should immediately flee and report it.

Other Transcendent Witches will come to deal with it.

However, a Transcendent would generally not act personally, or else a single report could trigger a Transcendent War on the surface.

So, if there are any minor actions this time… they will most likely be carried out by Teaching Assistants.

Other academies also have similar roles to the Teaching Assistant, which are non-Transcendent academy management personnel, generally selected from their students, though the selection standards vary slightly among the academies.

Big Sis Bai also used the Three Great Top-tier Academies to explain this to me.

For example, the Aphrodite Academy’s World Tree Guard Team.

To become a member of this team, one must have absolute confidence in advancing to Transcendent status before completing their studies.

Joining grants more resource allocation.

The nature of this role is quite different from the Witch Academy’s Teaching Assistant.

After all, this is a role only true geniuses can join.

The Witch Academy’s Teaching Assistant role is more relaxed.

If a Teaching Assistant fails to advance to Transcendent status, their Teaching Assistant status is merely revoked, and they can still graduate normally and take their time afterward.

Then there is the Wizard Academy’s Wizard Tower Keeper, who takes orders from the Transcendent Wizard Tower Lord.

This is somewhat similar to the Witch Academy’s Teaching Assistant, helping the Tower Lord manage the Wizard Apprentices (students who can join the Wizard Tower).

Finally, there is the Holy Angel Academy’s Preaching Angel.

This is even more formidable.

This position also requires natural talent.

Furthermore, the Preaching Angel is responsible for the Holy Light Churches throughout the Main World, spreading the will of Holy Light.

This is why there are so many Holy Light believers and Ascetics in the Main World.

These non-Transcendent groups are also one of the main forces in this joint exam.

Big Sis Bai was clearly implying to me that while this is a clash between low-grade students, it is also a game played by older students?

This game, however, has a restriction threshold, such as the Teaching Assistant status, and Transcendent beings cannot personally enter the field.

This is a comparison of Destiny.

All the academies are attempting to expand the Contention for Destiny.

It shouldn’t be limited to newcomers or even just the low-grade section.

The older seniors and juniors, possessing powerful strength, can also become aids to the Script.

They are strong enough to make the collision between the Script and the Contention for Destiny even more intense.

But in my understanding… isn’t this like the competition of human connections in a novel’s protagonist story?

If the protagonist can’t defeat someone, calling for help is also a necessary skill.

So, in the end, I was still drawn into the whirlpool.

However, I am no longer afraid of this Script.

The leap in my level allows me to view many things without fear.

Furthermore… I am somewhat interested in the power of Destiny.

The driving force of Destiny and the Script is truly terrifying, and I am quite envious of it.

In Ninglan New City, I utilized the power of the first City Lord to control Destiny with a Transcendent Item.

I have experienced the terror of Destiny.

The perfection of the Dream Rewrite Spell, Nightmare Spell, and so on, requires the power of Destiny.

This is one of the fundamental reasons why I am envious.

If possible, I also want to borrow the power of Destiny to push my Great Tree of Knowledge forward.

After all, if the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell hadn’t had my intervention, the Academy Head would have had a backup plan to introduce it into the Script, using the propulsion of the Script to perfect it.

I merely want to do something similar to the Academy Head.

What did I do wrong?

The Script is right there.

It has drawn me in, so why shouldn’t I use it?

Therefore, I have many reasons to support my participation in this joint exam, but ultimately, the most important reason is that Big Sis Bai is also going.

I won’t refuse a holiday for two with Big Sis Bai.

It will be a perfect way to pass the semester break and make up for the regret of not having Big Sis Bai accompany me on the round-the-world trip in the Small World.

Mhm… I feel like I can start preparing the beach gear now.

What do I need?

A sun umbrella… a lounge chair… sunscreen… essential oils… a swimsuit…

It seems some strange items have been mixed in, but it doesn’t matter.

I have no shortage of money or storage space!

After completing today’s Tactile Sensation Cultivation, Big Sis Bai finally let me go.

After becoming a Teaching Assistant, the academy also assigned me a residence in a separate independent villa, but the key card to my original shared villa was not canceled, so I could still live where I was.

Before I went to see Big Sis Bai today, I heard Hong Chenyi say she was going to an impromptu class meeting and asked if I was going.

I naturally declined.

At that time, I knew with certainty that it was to discuss the joint exam.

Since I was still immersed in the thought of not having to participate, I naturally didn’t feel the need to know.

But now… I think it is necessary to find out what the students know compared to what Big Sis Bai told me.

However, as a Teaching Assistant, I naturally won’t reveal any of this information.

I just hadn’t told my dorm mates that I had become a Teaching Assistant immediately.

Now that I think about it, there is no need to hide this fact, so I might as well use this opportunity to be honest with them.

Thinking this, I opened my phone.

Immediately, countless messages popped up on my phone.

A quick glance showed that most of them were private messages asking if it was true that I had become a Teaching Assistant, and some immediately congratulated me.

The Class Group Chat was also filled with congratulations, and the Mutual Aid Group was in complete chaos.

I naturally didn’t have the time to reply to all the private messages, but I did have time to look at the dorm group chat.

Hong Chenyi was flooding the chat with shock and messages, leaving Dongli Yiren and Guan Qiuling completely bewildered.

It wasn’t until Yu Yetian explained the situation that they finally understood.

“Tsk Exposed? Did Teacher Ji Niang just casually reveal this in the class meeting…”

I rubbed my forehead, slightly annoyed that I was caught off guard.

But it was fine.

At least having the status spread would save me some trouble.

Looking at the dorm group chat, they seemed to be back.

It was a good time for me to go back and confess to them.
