Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 465: Encountering Lucianne Again

“Of course, I don’t mind,” Daphne quickly said.

After all, she knew exactly how terrifying the person in front of her was.

Even though she was clearly a first-year student, the other party would soon become a Teaching Assistant.

She was a member of the Wan Shi Wu Club, and her work naturally involved serving the academy, such as accurately steering Lucianne, a Child of Destiny, to the Witch Academy.

The matter concerning Little Han was not a secret within the club, but not every member was privileged to know this information.

Serving as a Teaching Assistant generally has a time limit.

Although not explicitly stated, a Teaching Assistant who shows no ability or ambition to become a Transcendent Witch will quickly be abandoned by their supervising teacher.

Conversely, if a student shows that kind of drive, it won’t be long before they advance to a Transcendent Witch and leave the academy.

Some large clubs treat funding members to take the Teaching Assistant examination as a long-term operation that must not fail.

Therefore, Yang Yuehan’s information would soon appear on the radar of many clubs.

Her connections were also clearly visible, and the most conspicuous piece of information was… her deep relationship with a graduated senior who had returned.

Many people were curious how she, only a first-year, had managed to become acquainted with such a senior.

One must understand that a senior’s graduation means advancing to a Transcendent Witch, and returning in a manner compliant with the rules requires a very long time.

So, Bai Yu’s situation exceeded their expectations.

They had done similar things before—arranging for a senior to advance to a Transcendent Witch and return—but upon returning, it would be many years later.

Any juniors they knew would either have graduated or completed their studies.

Time wouldn’t grant them much leeway, and low-grade juniors wouldn’t have the ability to form such a relationship with a senior of that caliber.

Moreover… a witch who achieved Transcendent status was no longer the senior who once looked out for them.

They didn’t understand many complex matters, but they recognized the situation.

Things had happened, and they had no choice but to accept it and admit that the other party was highly likely to become a Teaching Assistant.

An independently established Teaching Assistant like this was someone many clubs wanted to recruit.

As for the Bakery Club she joined… sorry, no one cared about that.

“Are you working on test questions?”

At this moment, I also sat down, directly across from them.

Looking at the textbooks and even exercise questions on their desk, everything felt so familiar.

Was it the strategy of drilling exercises?

But the library did not sell exercise questions.

They must have gotten them from somewhere and came to the library, a place with a good study atmosphere, for instruction.

“Mhm, I’m helping Lucianne drill exercises. The final exam is approaching, after all. Her theoretical scores are only average. Since she enrolled late, she hasn’t quite adapted to the teaching atmosphere here yet.”

Daphne said, placing her hands on Lucianne’s shoulders.

“I see.”

I looked at the question bank, somewhat distracted.

Drilling exercises… a somewhat distant term.

But for me now, this kind of activity was far behind my current capabilities.

“Since you offered to let me call you Little Han, I’ll call you Little Han, the junior student. Lucianne naturally can’t compare to you, but… I wonder if you plan to participate in the final exam this time, Little Han?”

“It probably depends on the situation? Most likely, I won’t participate,” I said, shrugging, not committing fully.

However, the other party’s probing was too obvious.

I was suddenly curious.

Did this Senior Daphne know someone?

After all, I met quite a few seniors after the written test, and they were all members of several large clubs in the academy.

They would definitely mention me when they returned; this was unavoidable.

But at this moment.

Lucianne, who was completely on a different wavelength, had her eyes wide open.

What did she just hear?

Not participating in the final exam?

Who did she think she was?

It was understandable to skip the Monthly Exam, but the final exam too?

Just as she was about to speak, one of Senior Daphne’s hands, placed on her shoulder, pressed down, dissolving the emotions and words that were stirring within her.

And my gaze unintentionally turned toward Lucianne.

Sure enough, it was very similar to the manifestation of Destiny.

Assistance from a benefactor—it was most likely this person.

And sinking deeply into it might refer to losing control over her own actions?

To be tutored in theory solely by a senior, and a capable one at that, was truly impressive.

Furthermore, this senior’s status was not poor.

The fact that she knew about me before the news of my Teaching Assistant examination spread on the Academy Network spoke volumes.

“Little Han, you are being too modest.”

Daphne said with a smile.

She didn’t believe any of that.

It’s better to believe in what’s possible than to dismiss it.

How could she possibly assume the other party lacked confidence just because of her modesty?

Even if the other party doesn’t become a Teaching Assistant this year, with her demonstrated ability to pass the personal information review and the written test, she has plenty of opportunities to try.

If not this year, then next year, or the year after… Who can say for sure?

Then her gaze shifted to the pile of books by my side, and she proactively started a new topic.

“Little Han, are you borrowing books from the library this time?”

“Of course. I like to come here to read when I have free time. Although I can read on my phone, I still prefer the feeling of flipping through paper books in my hand,” I said with a smile.

As for the real reason, I wouldn’t say it out loud.

Even if I did, they probably wouldn’t believe it.

“Is that so? Little Han, you have such a refined hobby? What kind of books do you usually like to read?”

“Mhm, mainly Runology and Alchemy. The rest are a bit varied.”

“Oh? Such a wide range of interests?”

A flicker of surprise flashed in Daphne’s eyes, but she didn’t let herself be flustered.

At least she figured the person’s focus was on Runology and Alchemy.

Honestly, she was only somewhat familiar with Alchemy among those two.

As for Runology… wouldn’t studying that cause hair loss?

But she certainly wouldn’t say that.

“As far as I know, Runology and Alchemy are far outside the scope of the curriculum…”

“I have a Course Exemption, so I study a bit more willfully.”

“Oh, I almost forgot. Look at my memory.”

Daphne also just reacted, feeling subtly shown up.

“With Little Han’s excellent learning ability, you naturally excel at everything you study. I wonder… could you share some of your experience? Lucianne has some connection with you, so even just a small suggestion for this child would be helpful.”

“If you want me to give suggestions, I’m afraid you might not be able to accept them.”

After all, could anyone else walk the path I have walked?

No.

“It’s fine. We’re only taking it as a reference,” Daphne said with a smile.

Her tone showed she was indifferent, almost as if whatever I said next, she would praise it.

“Then I will speak. I want to say that… you should distance yourself from the things you dislike and choose a path that genuinely interests you, sticking to it. The three-year period is just a buffer for newcomers to accept the grandeur of the Transcendent world. When we took the college entrance exam, we had no reference points for choosing a Transcendent Academy, but we do now that we are in the Witch Academy. We have a maximum of three years to choose the direction for our entire life.”

“During these three years, we should be brave enough to try things. Failure and rankings are superficial. We don’t need to and shouldn’t adapt to this kind of academic life. You should have your own plan, or you will only follow the rhythm of others, and you won’t have a future.”

As I finished speaking, they all fell silent.

Daphne too.

She had only been polite, willing to accept even if I had just recommended some books.

But saying all this at once… it genuinely moved her.

She was a senior, a so-called ”person who has been through it,” so she clearly knew that what I said was largely correct.

If students adapted to the first three years of curriculum study, by the fourth year, when they chose a teacher and were free from the constraints of classes, their minds would be empty.

They would only do what the teacher told them, lacking personal ideas and initiative.

“I didn’t expect you to see things so clearly, Little Han. No wonder you achieved such success in such a short time since enrollment.”

“Oh, it’s nothing. It’s just a very shallow truth. It’s mainly a matter of mindset,” I said, waving my hand, but my gaze was on Destiny.

This was because I was observing whether my words had any influence on Lucianne’s Destiny.

Lucianne could also be considered a genius, but apparently not in test-taking.

She was now hastily cramming for the final exam, so she was clearly very concerned about her scores.

After I spoke, Lucianne’s related Destiny did undergo a slight change, but I couldn’t interpret it fully, as I lacked a reference point.

However, the words I spoke just now were truly from the heart.

Approaching the end of the semester, the library was filled with a large number of students.

They were reading or drilling exercises, having borrowed all the books that would help their class studies.

As I walked through the bookshelves earlier, I could see that certain categories of books had been completely cleared out, while other books remained untouched, neatly gathering dust on the shelves.

The library was increasingly looking like a self-study room.

The presence of books outside the curriculum was almost zero.

It felt as though the function of the library had been inverted at this moment.

The academy had self-study rooms; I couldn’t believe they were all full.

But I merely sighed with emotion, without any intention of criticizing.

Subsequently, I chatted with the senior for a few more sentences, and the topic eventually drifted to the upcoming final exam.

“I heard that this year’s final exam will be very different compared to previous years.”

“Oh? What do you mean?”

I asked curiously.

Currently, the academy had not officially announced any information about the final exam, and I hadn’t intentionally looked into it, so I was naturally unaware of the details.

“Little Han, you know that in previous years, our Witch Academy’s curriculum for the first three years was generally quite monotonous. Monthly exams and even final exams generally did not include practical combat assessments. Therefore, our Witch Academy typically did not hold joint final exams with other academies.”

“Then, according to you, senior, joint inter-academy final exams are common in other academies?”

I asked.

“Mhm, that’s natural. The teaching in other academies incorporates a large amount of combat practice, while we only intersperse some practical combat technique courses. This difference arises from the different paths of power we master. I’m not saying that the Witch Academy’s approach is bad, but since the Monthly Exam already underwent a reform this semester with the addition of practical combat assessments, the likelihood of the Witch Academy aligning with other academies for a joint exam is extremely high.”

“So that’s how it is.”

I nodded.

This explanation was very reasonable.

“Then, do you have any specific details? Like the format and content of the joint inter-academy exam?”

“Are you very curious about this, junior?”

“Mhm, of course I am.”

“But I apologize, I don’t know much about it either. Since it’s a joint inter-academy exam, the content is certainly not something the Witch Academy alone can decide. However, I think it will definitely be an even more spectacular joint exam than the previous academy exchange competitions.”

“Alright.”

Seeing that she didn’t know, I didn’t press further.

Whether she genuinely didn’t know or didn’t want to say, I knew she wouldn’t tell me.

After a brief chat with her, I immediately left with the books I had picked up.

After all, I genuinely needed to prepare for the upcoming interview.

Even though Big Sis Bai said it was just a formality, I felt that a certain level of respect was still required.

Watching my retreating back, Lucianne, who had hardly said a word, couldn’t hold back anymore.

“What? Do you have many questions?”

Daphne asked gently, removing her hand from Lucianne’s shoulder.

“Yes, that’s right. I have too many questions,” Lucianne nodded.

From why Yang Yuehan could skip the final exam to Senior Daphne’s attitude toward her, these were all the things that confused her.

She couldn’t understand and couldn’t figure it out.

“Before I explain this, I need to make one thing clear to you: you must admit that the gap between people is enormous.”

“Senior, are you referring to the gap between her and me…”

“The gap between you and her is a chasm. Perhaps the negative information about Little Han has been pervasive on the Academy Network recently, but that is merely self-deception by you low-grade students. Do you remember saying that Yang Yuehan severing her Seed of Destiny was digging her own grave?”

“This… why bring that up suddenly?”

“That is the naive thinking of you low-grade students. But in the eyes of us seniors, that Little Han felt that the so-called Script and Seed of Destiny were not a unique opportunity but an obstacle to her progress. This is the difference in your respective levels.”

“How is that possible? We are both newcomers. How could she… be like that? Where does she get that confidence?”

“I don’t know where she gets her confidence, but her ability and intelligence are clear for you all to see. And what she is doing is something you cannot aspire to. No one knows what she will do next. While you are looking forward to the upcoming joint inter-academy exam to showcase yourselves, she has already completed her self-study and accumulation. It won’t be long before she becomes a Teaching Assistant of the Witch Academy!”

“Teaching… Assistant?”

Lucianne looked blank.

Clearly, she didn’t fully understand the concept.

“If she becomes a Teaching Assistant, she will completely change her student status and join the ranks of the Witch Academy faculty. Even I would have to call her ’Teacher.’ Do you understand that concept? This is not just a change in status; it is a leap in class within the Witch Academy! She will achieve faculty status in the academy without even having achieved Transcendent status. Can you imagine how terrifying that is?”

“…?”

Lucianne slowly typed out a question mark.

Were they really talking about the same person?
