Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 149: The Last Day Before the Competition

(There’s a major error in Chapter 147, the 182-person battle royale ultimately decides 18 revival round spots. I’m so sorry, so sorry, the author’s math must have been taught by a P.E. teacher!)

“Not bad… hmm… feels like something’s missing…”

The senior looked at her finished product excitedly, but being extremely perfectionistic about her work, she still felt something was missing.

“Why don’t we put on the Witch Four-Piece Set and do it again! That wide-brimmed witch hat can showcase your identity as a witch very well. Quick, quick, adjust the lighting, let’s go again!”

“Huh? Again?”

In the end, I was dragged to shoot once more, and from that series of photos, the most satisfactory one was chosen, and only then was the matter settled.

It was just hard on the senior whose spell I had interrupted twice.

The backlash from mental power was no joke; even for a spell like Fireball, it could make someone uncomfortable for a long time.

Unless one frequently practiced enduring backlash, spell backlash was really deadly.

Especially in an intense battle, the gap created by a spell’s interruption and backlash was enough for a person to die many times over.

After bidding farewell to this photo studio, I also breathed a sigh of relief.

I had never been so resistant to taking photos before.

I wouldn’t take any more in the future.

And having to wear makeup, I really didn’t want to experience it a second time, even if I did look very beautiful after makeup.

I was a pursuer of the all-natural; makeup and such were all sorcery.

“Little Han, you’re done so quickly?”

Anni, who was still queuing, looked at me with envy as I came out.

“Yeah, it was a bit of a hassle. The senior in charge of the photos had too many requests.”

“Huh? Wasn’t it just a casual shoot? How could there be requests? Hmm? You even put on makeup! You clearly didn’t have any just now.”

“I was forced to. Actually, I don’t really like makeup either. Alright, see you later. I’m going to get the things I need for tomorrow.”

“Mhm, see you.”

After saying goodbye to Anni, I also prepared to get those things that belonged to me, such as my participant number tag for Class 14.

This was something that proved my identity.

Tomorrow, I would have to wear it the entire time to show I was a contestant.

Then there was registering the alchemy items, potions, and so on that would be used in the upcoming battles, to ensure that the items used on the field were not in violation of the rules.

If something that wasn’t registered was used during a match, it would be checked afterward.

If it was a violation, the result would be voided, and the opponent would advance.

Of course, when it really came to the competition, probably no one would care about these things, unless the violation was particularly obvious or someone reported it.

Only then would this registered information be useful.

As for the matter of going to the open-air arena to walk through the process, the volunteers in the arena would guide us.

Of course, we could also go with the teacher leading the group this time.

Because of the efficiency issue with the photoshoot, it was impossible to go together for unified guidance, so the teacher-led groups were in batches.

So I also prepared to go with the main group.

When I found the teacher, I saw a familiar person here, Erica, the class president of Class 13.

“Little Han, you’re here. I was wondering, you were right behind me, how come you haven’t arrived until now? And you even put on light makeup?”

“Mhm, just a little. By the way, how are we getting to the arena? Did the teacher say?”

“The teacher arranged for a bus. Once our batch is full, we’ll go directly. Let’s go, we can talk on the bus.”

Erica took my hand in a familiar manner, ready to board the bus.

Ever since I got the flying broom, I had rarely taken this bus, but taking it once in a while wasn’t bad.

When we arrived at the place, the arena was already surrounded by a large crowd of onlookers.

After all, many people had heard that it was the last day before the competition.

The contestants would naturally come here to familiarize themselves with the venue, so many people had gathered here.

And it was a rare opportunity to see the class presidents of so many classes at once.

After all, school had been in session for several days already.

Each class president would have a certain fan base of their own.

Even if they weren’t fans, as members of the same class, they would come to show support.

And even more people wanted to see the full-mark study god of this year’s batch.

Rumors about her had been spreading even before school started.

And now there were even rumors that Tan Han’s current strength was already comparable to that of senior students from previous years, and that she also possessed a powerful spell with a terrifying thousand-digit magic power consumption.

There was even a blurry video circulating on the academy network of Tan Han fighting a senior student from a previous year, though its authenticity could not be confirmed for the time being.

The world of the transcendent was just that simple.

Strength was worshipped.

Strength was the foundation of everything, and also the most direct manifestation of one’s own value.

I sat at the very back of the bus, but Tan Han was not on it.

She had probably already gone back.

As for familiarizing herself with the venue?

Perhaps she had already done so long ago.

Besides, she had a flying license and could go there by herself.

Even I could be equipped with a broom by Teacher Ji Niang.

I didn’t believe Tan Han wouldn’t have a flying broom.

Moreover, she was a rich girl; she might have even bought one herself.

“Look! Our class president! They’re here!”

“Hmm? Really?”

“I’ve been waiting here for a long time.”

“Class President Look here! I came to cheer for you”

“Minian Over here I found you!”

As the people got off the bus, it immediately sparked a lot of discussion among the crowd.

There were also acquaintances shouting their names.

As for me, I was more concerned about how much this place had changed.

It had become much more lively compared to yesterday.

It would probably be even more lively tomorrow.

I scanned the area, looking to see if there were any members of Class 14 who had come to join the fun.

It was a bit hard to recognize them in the crowd.

After all, we had only known each other for a little over a week, and I didn’t always attend classes with them, so their faces were somewhat unfamiliar.

I finally saw a familiar face, but the other person didn’t look over, or was a bit far away.

I just made eye contact with them and waved to say hello.

Fortunately, Class 14 didn’t have the type of people who would go crazy and get clingy upon seeing their class president.

I felt a bit embarrassed for her watching from the back, especially in front of so many people.

But thankfully, the teacher leading the group maintained order, and since the great god Tan Han wasn’t here with us, not as many people crowded around afterward.

“Little Han”

Just as I was about to follow them inside, I was suddenly called.

The familiar voice immediately made me turn my head, and then I saw that familiar person.

“Big Sis Bai!”

I exclaimed in pleasant surprise, but immediately lowered my voice to avoid attracting too much curiosity.

But I hadn’t told Big Sis Bai about this matter.

How could Big Sis Bai meet me here?

“Little Han How is it? You didn’t expect me to be waiting for you here, did you?”

Big Sis Bai blended into the group very naturally.

After all, this was just to familiarize ourselves with the process, not the official start of the competition, so it was naturally allowed for people to follow along.

Didn’t you see many other students following in front?

“I really didn’t expect it. Big Sis Bai must have been waiting here for a long time, right?”

“Not long, I just happened to come over to take a look. I heard that the competing students would be here today for a walkthrough rehearsal, so I came to try my luck. And didn’t I just get lucky?”

Big Sis Bai said with a smile.

As for whether that was true, probably only Bai Yu herself knew.

But Bai Yu had also noticed at first glance that I seemed to be wearing makeup.

Such exquisite light makeup was indeed more beautiful than the previous bare-faced look, making Bai Yu’s heart thump wildly the first second she saw me.

“What’s wrong? Big Sis Bai, staring at me like that.”

“Ah, it’s nothing. I just think today’s Little Han is really beautiful,” Bai Yu praised sincerely.

“Did you do this makeup yourself?”

“Oh, this. It was done during the photoshoot for the contestant’s full-body picture earlier. I didn’t actually want to do it, but I couldn’t win against that senior.”

“Actually, just dressing yourself up a little will make Little Han even more beautiful,” Bai Yu couldn’t help but persuade.

After all, if she could see such a cute and exquisite Little Han every day, she would be very happy too.

Besides, a Little Han like this was very pleasing to the eye.

“No way, I don’t like the feeling of those cosmetics on my face.”

Although I said that, I still left it on.

Otherwise, I could have removed all these things with a single Cleaning Spell.

“Alright, alright If you don’t like it, then you don’t have to use it. Actually, Little Han, if you’re resistant to it, you can try products made from natural materials, the best alchemy products. I guarantee they won’t have any side effects, and they’re even good for the skin.”

“Alright… since Big Sis Bai recommends it so strongly, I’ll try it when I have money in the future.”

Continuing to chat with Big Sis Bai, the leading teacher also led us into the arena.

The arena at this moment had been fully set up.

The giant Earth Vein projection in the sky was cyclically playing information about the Newcomer Competition.

The huge central field was divided into several competition grounds and numbered.

For the convenience of explanation, each of us received a process sheet, which was even precise down to what to do at specific times, to prevent situations where people couldn’t be found.

After all, after the competition starts, if either side fails to arrive at the specified time, it would be judged as a loss.

After explaining to us the gathering time for tomorrow and the rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the Newcomer Competition, the matter was considered to be over for the time being.

The rest of the time could be freely managed, but we were also informed that the participating students had the right to have their expenses reimbursed during the competition.

As long as you used your own participant number, you could directly reimburse the expenses during the period.

Of course, there was a limit to the reimbursement.

As long as it wasn’t too outrageous, it was completely sufficient.

If you wanted to use this money to go on a crazy shopping spree, that was completely out of the question.

And the contestants also had a ticket to a spot in the open-air arena, and it was a position with an excellent view.

Unfortunately, there was only one.

You had to know that tickets for the Newcomer Competition were something you had to fight for with fast hand speed, otherwise, you wouldn’t even have a chance to be there live and could only watch the live broadcast.

But who gave me this ticket made me feel troubled.

Originally, I thought of giving it to Big Sis Bai, but Big Sis Bai had already snatched a ticket in advance.

And among the people I knew, there didn’t seem to be anyone worthy of me giving it to.

I had also thought of asking Senior Ying Shiqian and the others before, but there were two of them, and I only had one ticket.

But I still asked symbolically, only to find out that the seniors had also snatched their tickets.

It seemed the seniors’ hand speed was still fast.

Our class group chat was in an uproar, full of complaints about not getting tickets.

In the end…

I gave this ticket to Tu Xingyue, who is the vice class president of our Class 14.

How should I put it…

She was someone I wanted to have a good relationship with.

After all, she managed the class in my stead.

I also hoped she could change her impression of me.

As for whether she would accept it, well, she didn’t get a ticket, and I had sent it out and told her.

She should come, right?

After all, she was so concerned about the Newcomer Competition.

She had even deliberately confronted me before.

She must be very attentive to the competition.

Thinking about it now, it’s actually not a big deal.

As long as I do my best.

After finishing today’s troublesome matters, I also went back early to rest and recuperate.

After all, tomorrow was the official competition.

Just in case, I even set several alarms.

I didn’t even have the energy to deal with my excited roommates when I got back.

As for the research on spells…

I’m not that concerned about this little bit of time.

The first match is tomorrow.

At worst, I’ll have time after it ends.

It won’t be too late to research then.
